Title: Having a look at Super Mission Force.
Post by: Legionnaire on November 15, 2017, 11:40:01 AM
From what I've seen so far, I am well impressed! I have to concur, the older I get, the more I like simplicity and I think SMF hit that sweet spot  lol. I have only looked at the fast-play document so far, but will definitely buy the printed copy from Lulu when payday comes around.

I had a go at creating one of my favourite heroes, The Shadow, which took about 5 minutes. I might've missed some rule but think I made a good 5 minute job of it  lol.

THE SHADOW (Mastermind)

Exploration
High Society

Health 6
Psyche 6
Move 6"

Melee: Attack 4 Defense 4
Ranged: Attack 5 (1) Defense 4
Mind: Attack: - Defense 5

Invisibility (Minor) Cloaking men's minds
Power Blast (Minor) Twin .45's
Iron Will (Minor)
Sidekick (Minor) Margo Lane and the others.

I swapped the Enhance (Major) power for two minor ones.

This looks pretty good, and your mini is, of course, spot on!

So glad you're digging it!

Thank you very much Scott! I downloaded the PDF (couldn't wait   :D). I have skimmed the rules and I think it's probable to create ANY superhero (established or off the top of your head) in minutes! I like the fact that unless you have an enhancement ALL heroes/ villains start off at 4D in all Stats. The powers are simplistic (most add +1D or +2D to fitting situations) BUT they would probably work very well in-game and seems to catch the flavour of the superhero genre bang on!

I really think the Subplot is a cool mechanic and tightens up the storytelling aspect, as to the reasons why and how this particular scenario came about. Very nicely tied in with the Backgrounds.

I have been away from the mini scene for a while (life in general), but this has given my mojo back to start creating a SMF board for Christmas. My 8-year old daughter might even enjoy it, as she's into X-Men and Justice League :). The BIG bonus here is that the rules are not too complicated.

All in all, FANTASTIC work Scott and team  :).
