Title: German Revolutionary Unrest
Post by: Brigade Hoelz on November 19, 2017, 03:53:24 PM
After a few years I am back to LAF. And I will start with some pics from my German Revolutionary Unrest minis. Next there will be some closer looks of the Red Army. But I still need to take some more pictures and write some more lines.

Anyway first some history for those how don't know the topic (not too much in this forum I would guess): In the time between the Novemberrevolution 1918 until the end of 1923 there were several fights between the political Left and Right. Famous are the Spartakus Uprising in Berlin 1919 as well as the defeat of the council-republics in Bremen, Braunschweig and Munich, the generalstrike and armed actions against the Kapp-Putsch 1920, with it’s aftermath the Ruhr uprising, the Mitteldeutsche Aufstand (Central German Uprising) 1921 and the Hamburg Uprising in 1923. Also there were lots of fighting from Rightwing Groups at the Polish and Russian borders and coups.

For the refight on the tabletop I build up some revolutionary workers and as opponent some Freikorps. There are also some Sailor, but no picture at the moment.

So here are my Red army

And there Opponents

Splendid! Well done on not overly well covered topic. Do you plan on using the Tsuba Miniatures too?

The Freikorps are - like Driscoles said - Great War Miniatures with a Copplestone standardbearer conversion.

The Red Army are from different manufactures and most are conversions: the majority are made from Copplestone Russian Partisans. Some are German Askarai (I think from Coppelstone, but not sure anymore) and a few are Spanish Civil War from Northstar as well as Great War Miniatures WWI Germans.

I have done most of them about six-seven years ago, but now have them finished and can post the pictures. The sailors will follow  - hopefully - next week.

For rules I think I will use some homemade with "went that day well" or "price of glory" as inspiration.

But here are some more pics of the Red Army with more details. Maybe I have posted some here at the forum years ago...

By the way... Have you seen the Freikorps free download on the Triumph and Tragedy wargame Website. You can probably use it for Price of Glory although I think the T&T rules are better  :)

Finally I managed to shot some sailors... But as I have to use autocorrect these are not as good as they could be. But anyway you get an impression. They are made from Copplestone Russian Sailors with some minor conversions.

These are all fantastic.  Must have been horrible times back then. I find this period of history more interesting than than the theoretical VBCW scenario.

An interesting time period.
Well painted figures.
A good set of rules.
Would be lots of fun to play.
Look forward to following what you do next.

Thanx folks.

I will post post some pics of houses I have made. But as it is "that time of the year" I am suffering from too much to do and a mild winterdepression. So please be patient.

That looks very productive, will be interested to see what you do with the buildings as I’ve got this period in my pending tray.

Nice job!

I have some of those Copplestone sailors, too.  You did a great job on them!

Thanks folks! I appreciate your comments -esp. the nice ones ;)

Anyway. I have managed to take some pictures of the two miniers houses I have done years ago:

And with some 28mm minis to get the scale

The are made from plaster an plastic sheet (the roof). I had taken a mould from a master made of foamsheet. The doors and windows where casted in resin after making masters with plasticcard.

For those who are interested some WIP-pics are on my blog https://brigadehoelz.wordpress.com/2018/01/14/german-miners-houses/ (https://brigadehoelz.wordpress.com/2018/01/14/german-miners-houses/). But nothing really good, as I am did not made many pics of the process.
