During my visit of Lucca Comics & Games 2017, I tried two demos of the skirmish game "Palaeo Diet" done by Ganesha Games.
I liked it and bought the rulebook and some copplestone casting cavemen.
Palaeo Diet: Eat or be Eaten is a stand-alone set of gaming rules for recreating prehistoric animal hunts on your table top.
Designed with solo and multiplayer games in mind, players take on the role of the hunting party while an integral response mechanism means that beasts react in different ways in different situations.
I'm painting 6 hunters, here the first two: Grug (male) and Hugga (female)
I was not sure about the paint scheme of these cavemen, then I get ispired by "The Croods" from the Dreamworks Animation.

Neat 8) 8) 8)
-
Absolutely cracking! :D
-
Nice! :D
-
Welcome aboard !
Great paint work
-
Thanks :)
Eep and her mate Guy join the family of cavemen hunters.
-
The last two cavemen are ready, now the family is complete. But I could consider to include the grandmather Gran too, if I find the right miniature. Here Sandy and her brother Thunk and a picture of the cave family.

Nice paintjobs, flesh tones in particular. As for a "grandmother" mini: Sycorax the Witch by Steve Saleh, sold by Gorgon Miniatures (LINK (https://gorgon-studios.myshopify.com/collections/characters/products/sycorax-the-witch)), could fit the bill.
-
Ah, that's her, she sprang to mind straight way but I couldn't think of the maker.

I was thinking about the Reaper Miniatures Caveman Pack too:

The witch is available in UK/Europe too?
-
Such nicely painted cavies! :-*
-
You have made a really good job of these figures, do you have the animals already painted for the game or are they the next post?
If so I'm looking forward to seeing them.

I' ve yet two regular lions, two regular hyenas, a panther and a dire wolf to paint (or repaint).
However I'm painting a big plastic T-Rex that I will like to use as an Apex Predator with bulk 6 (usually the bulk is 3 for these aggressive predators in Palaeo Diet).
I like the idea of using dinosaur in Palaeo Diet, I'm planning to buy some prehistoric mammals too.
-
I don't have the rules yet - they are on my Christmas list ;D but I thought dinosaurs would work as well and I have some painted for some strange reason, probably because they were from a pound shop and were fun to paint.
Looking forward to seeing more and hopefully you will post your games here as I enjoy the ones you do on the pulp board.
Cheers

Yes, from Gorgon Studios. :D No European distributor though.
I like the idea of using dinosaur in Palaeo Diet
Just a reminder not to go too far astray with this [on the Ancients board where this thread was started]. Copplestone's cavemen and "The Croods" are stretching historicity already. If you must use dinosaurs, your project would rather qualify for Pulp or Fantasy adventures. Your call. :)
[EDIT] Thread moved as requested.

That is a moderator speech ! :D
Nice idea indeed.....to follow here or in the Pulp forum if you take that way ;)

Yes, the Copplestone Castings cavemen are yet pulp figures, I included here the post because I've seen the other palaeo diet topic.
Surely I wasn't planning to do some historically accurate cavemen ;) If the moderator want he could include my topic in the pulp forum.
-
As an alternative apex predator for Palaeo Diet, I painted a plastic toy T-Rex with the "Momma Dino" paint scheme from the cartoon "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs".
I've included a picture of the original pre-painted plastic Toy too.
-
a very good result !
-
So Spartan w cartoon armor and Minotaurs/Centaurs/Gods are Historical, but dinos and cavemen are Pulp?
-
Great job I do be amazed how well people can make toys look with a paint job :)
-
Really nice effect. Cavemen, girls in fur bikinis, donosaurs, giant spiders, giant turtles, Pterodactylsall fit in my idea of a paleo-diet games. As you may guess I'm influenced by the documentaries "1,000,000 Years BC" and "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth".
They are true aren'y they?

Of course they are true, who could invent Raquel.

Shame about the move because there are a couple of nice thread about Palaeo Diet on the Old things board, but I'm pleased it's here rather than fantasy because I rarely go there and would have missed the continuing story.
Nice job with the Dino although apart from the mouth area the toy as originally painted is not too bad from this photo.

At the end of the day it is the moderator's call to move it, but I do tend to agree with you that the internal logic is ... questionable.
This is a great wee project (and exceptionally painted too), and it would have been nice to keep it with the other PDEE posts in the Ancients room.
-
Really nice little project!
It couldn't feel much more pulpy that that; the only missing bit is a mad scientist with his time travelling machine, but I'm confident you're working on it. That said, to me, many Ancients Hollywood-inspired projects might be equally at home in the Pulp section. I personally don't mind, as I enjoy it when people are stretching the boundaries of predefined genres.
-
I Could use these miniatures with Pulp Alley too. ;)
In fact these guys could be fine for a "Lost World" background.
I yet played several pulp alley games with my 193X leagues.

Nice to see another prehistoric project!!! great paintjobs !!

They are part of or based on ancient history/mythology. Dinosaurs are not.
If in doubt, take a look at the guidelines included on a few sub-boards (here's (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=63122.0) the ancients version) or just ask us mods, preferably before posting. ;)

I painted another dinosaur for my palaeo diet games.
This time a styracosaurus that could be a fine giant grazer (with bulk 6).
I painted it ispired by the paint scheme of "ice age: dawn of the dinosaurs" triceratops.
-
Another dinosaur I painted for my pulp alley or palaeo diet games: a Stegosaurus
-
A really big dinosaur for my palaeo diet or pulp alley games: Rudy
-
More Cavemen for my palaeo diet or pulp alley games.
I was ispired by the main characters of the old japanese cartoon "Ryu the primitive boy".
Here Ryu, Ran and her little brother Don.

Vagabond, I've just posted something about mamooths models that you may find interesting:

;)
BTW: it sucks that the "Palaeo Diet" threads are scattered around the forum! :-X
-
"Nice snack those three", said the T-Rex... lol
I was considering to buy and repaint a cheap Schleich T-Rex as "Tirano" (or Shirano in the originale version) the main antagonist from the japanese cartoon ;)
