No, I am not going to scratch build an entire board for the Sierra Madre - though I have considered it.
I find that threads get unwieldy after about 20 pages, so I tend to restart new threads rather than stretch out the old. For those who want to look at my prior post-apocalyptic creations, look here:

But for today, we are going to show off our Dinogas Station, which is better on the inside than the outside, but will be the centerpiece of the next game I run...well, sort of. I am actually going to end with two sort of 'showpieces'. I will likely go back and hit some other spots on this later - like where after I took the photo, I saw that I forgot the inside of the bloody door.

And then the person most likely to live here, and my latest post-apo lady.
And her newest robot - which, I tried to make it look like Austin Powers, so he could be the Mojobot...

And the first reply will be more of my own stuff!
I decided to make myself a new board, so I recycled one of the old ones that was plain and decided to smash a hole in the middle, and make a radioactive pit, Fallout style, with glowing green and everything.
First stage:
Second Stage: I added lights, because why not?
And then I poured a good green layer of resin over it.
And then a layer of faintly yellow over the top to try and give it a good depth.
And it is really hard to photograph lights...I never realized HOW hard.

Very nice stuff.
-
Lovely, just lovely!
I am a huge fan of lighting up terrain (even if I don't do it myself) and your radioactive pool is ace!
-
Love it Neil.
Now, back to painting your Medievals,
or are you done. ;)
-
I had to get this made for Ambuscade next weekend, and I'll go back Teutonic Knights after that.
;)
-
Love that lit sludge pool. Brilliant.
-
Love that lit sludge pool. Brilliant.
Thanks - I have played with lighting off and on for a few years, and every once in a while, I consider trying to find streetlights that light up without wires, and trying to do a night-time adventure with the ghouls drybrushed with glow in the dark paint...

My latest post-apocalyptic game featured a little fellow that I had following around a Vault Dweller. She calls him "Boy".

And here he is with his girl, and one of the poor ladies they rescued in the game.
Made from a Hill Giant Chieftain from Pathfinder with a little bit of baggage, and a Brahmin I had lying about.
-
Nice! I've got that same fella on my desk right now, planning to use him for my Mutant Cannibals. I love the conversion work you've done, all those extra bits add a lot of character
-
Thanks! I did one before that I just repainted without any conversions and had as part of my Hillbilly faction, but I think this looks niftier.
He was actually the winner along with his Vault Dweller in the survival horror game I ran yesterday.

Wow, AMAZING table! Great, utterly great!
-
'Boy' is just awesome. Love the collection of stuff on his back and the controlling hand on the Brahmin.

Wickid kool man. Loving him.
What did you do with the item you cut out of his right hand?
Grimm
-
Ooh, lovely! Do the lights pulse, or are they at the same brightness all the time? They're amazing either way.

Oh, the bundle of logs went in the bits box.

Solid - no pulse. Unfortunately, they seem to draw enough power from a nine volt, that it overheats in about an hour. :?
-
So glad to see you doing Fallout stuff again! Looking good as usual!

:o It's not supposed to do that, I'm guessing?

It feels good to slap a little paint on post-apo stuff - it will always be one of the 2 constants in my minis gaming: Pirates & post-apoc.
:o It's not supposed to do that, I'm guessing?
No, in theory, a nine volt should power them for about 20 hours. I suspect I may have caused a short when I buried them in liquid resin. (shrug) Oh well.
-
Awesome scenery and minis, there must be some major time put into making all that lot. Brilliant idea on the glowing waste pit! 'Boy' looks amazing too, his expression is perfect for a dogsbody to a survivor.
-
Awesome scenery and minis, there must be some major time put into making all that lot.
Well, I have been doing Fallout inspired conversions and paintjobs since 2010 with Fallout 3, so, yeah...
-
Love the scenery!!!!
-
Awesome thread. Love the glow in the dark pool.
That Pack Mutant is awesome. I also like the use of the Satuesque mini as Vaulties as well. Great idea!
-
Thanks. I am in the middle of finishing some medievals and WW2 Italians, some Batman minatures, and then I will be back to my lovely post-apoc!
-
Holy....well, it isn't as long as it looks, because I accidentally added my last update to my second thread.
So, as I am also on another fine post-apoc forum, they head gentleman there runs what he calls the Warlord's Challenge, wherein we have a theme and we drop a build into it, showing off what we did, and hopefully provoking others to get creative.
2018 is the year of the comestibles/beverages vendor, and I decided to go for a Fallout-styled booze vendor. We started with:
And after some rum inspired research, started a still.
And then we added the rest of the still inside, with a nice place to sit.
Gave it a place to do business - decided he would block up the door and leave the broken window for access.
And then added lockers, sacks of grain, and a bed to the inside.
And then started adding little bits of flair.
And then started adding color to it.
And this became what my lovely wife refers to as my "infamous one day builds", as I have a tendency to follow an idea until it is done, come hell or high water.
And now we have a booze vendor. Now to go paint up Mick. And I think I will trim the translucent base back a bit.

Lovely work as always! I love how many extra gubbins you put into everything, it really makes it feel lived in.
-
Very cool!
-
Brilliant it looks awesome! :-*
-
Lovely work as always! I love how many extra gubbins you put into everything, it really makes it feel lived in.
Thanks - I don't put in as many as some people ( we're looking at you, clanmac, quit trying to duck), but I like to have some interest.
I can definitely put down a full sized town now, with one hell of a bazaar. I keep trying to justify how a town would have that much going on, and the only thing I can come up with is either clean water sources or majorly protected farmlands/pastures/etc.
-
Nice work.
-
The truly frightening part is about 3 years ago I went on a three month binge ordering nothing but parts lots of plasticville buildings of ebay. After about 3 months, I had spent about $150, and ended up with 27 different 'complete' buildings, and a big bag of leftovers. I had to mix and match some of them, but so what?
And I have only painted maybe 6-7 of them. I still have another cafe, several rail-related building, a park pond...all sorts of stuff. And I had forgotten they were in the garage until I was looking for a building for this project.
:o o_o
-
And with the 4th being a day off, we spent the morning doing yard work and the afternoon doing, well, this.
Here are some tables and chairs, mounted on clear basing, so I can use them anywhere.
I felt Mick's needed a Mick, and here he is.
With his trained crow (or is it a raven), he runs the place. He claims his name is actually Nick, but the painter screwed up.
His wife insists he was the one who painted it, and he just can't spell in American runes.
They have two daughters, a redhead and a raven.
Family photo!
I also painted some little beasties, that I am going to claim are reborn genetically modified t-rexes, because, why not? And Mick can send them after you with a wave of his hand.
And because I have an idea for a game lurking inside my skull, I also went looking for captive models for the group. I found the two girls, and not been successful for the parents yet.

So I have a couple of resin truck a friend gave me, that were his "test casts", and I just cut the back off one and made me another brahmin wagon.

I think with the amount of 'merchanty' terrain I have, a few wagons would be good scatter, both empty and full.
-
Brilliant stuff. Liking Mick (or is it Nick?) and his family. Great brahmin wagon too, nothing says fallout like a brahmin caravan.
-
Nice Brahmin cart.
-
Nice
-
Cool
-
What a plethora of inventiveness!!! :o I have just come back to the forum after a long time away from the hobby and seeing this. Absolutely fantastically and creatively executed ideas, I wish I had a morsel of your eye for detail.
Keep up the good job :)
-
Why, thank you sir. I am just trying to keep up with clanmac, Anpu, and DELTADOG. They keep putting out stuff I wish I had thought of, so I have to keep trying to come up with new and cooler stuff too.
:D lol
-
I think we all inspire each other. :)
-
I have gone through some of your older posts to get some inspiration for my own upcoming Fallout Wasteland Warfare project. Much has been found, especially loved your little batrep with the Supermutants, the Ghouls, Talon Company and the Villagers :). Ghouls have always been my favourites in the game :D.
-
I do love me some Fallout - I am somewhat of a creeper for Fallout related materials. I have even been known to craft my own cooking recipes based off the game's description of the food item.
I think we all inspire each other. :)
You're probably right, but isn't that grand? I will get back to some more post-apoc stuff as soon as I finish painting the mighty Nagash.
-
Resurrection! Okay, so I have been caught up in Pulp era stuff for my favorite game system (Pulp Alley FTW!), and a bit of video gaming, because, well, I was given Fallout 76 as a present.
Those who have played have probably run across those giant screaming mutant bats we call Scorchbeasts. When I was going through unpainted stuff I had in my collection, I found one. It was a Terrorgheist in Warhammer, but not he's a Scorchbeast. Simple paint job - the photos seem to have washed out most of the green underlying all of the gray. :'(
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/37/1352-130119184057-371251191.jpeg)
And the size is definitely scaled correctly.
-
Nice..
-
Lovely paint job! Wouldn't want to run into him on a dark night, that's for sure.
-
Really nice mini and paintjob!
-
Thanks. My next step was to finish an Assaultron (Brother Vinni style).
I am splitting time between Pulp Era and Post-Apoc right now.
-
Love the green on the armour, very smooth!
-
Nice liking the Assaultron.
-
Love the Scorched Beast idea! I may have to steal that for my TNT collection.... Now what to count it as?
I love your threads Sinewgrab, keep up the great work!!
-
IT'S ALIVE!
So, I'm back in the post-apoc world! Finished up a Pulp Alley pulp era Perilous Island Campaign, and am moving on to start a Vice Alley campaign set in post-apocalyptic Portland, so I have been adding some new stuff to my collection.
I made a few more of my patented building inserts.
And I finished up a radio station for my town.
And I picked up a 3D printed building from an Etsy dealer, and I am very happy with it.
And I hung some corpses inside to advertise...
And I built a random piece of industrial humbug from excess crap from my garage.
-
Nice.
The room inserts are a great idea.
-
Very cool, that industrial humbug is huge!
-
Love it. Radio station looks great and I always love to see a bit of Rusty Rail stuff.
-

Isn't his stuff just spectacular for our purposes? I've spent a few pennies on his stuff.
-
And I turned a fairly innocuous pond from Plasticville into a tarberry bog. Got the last pour just a touch darker than I wanted, but it'll do.

Some really nice terrain pieces!
-
Brilliant work!
-
Ha, I have that same plasticville pond in a raw/broken state. Good to know it can be rescued. lol
-
great thread :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Ha, I have that same plasticville pond in a raw/broken state. Good to know it can be rescued. lol
Yeah, I just wish I had only put two drops of green into the mix instead of four, because it is darker than I wanted. There are actually snakes in the bottom, but you cannot see them, even with the light almost against the resin. Still, I can totally see survivors making a park pond into a tarberry bog. The leaves are actually findings my wife had in her jewelry making stuff she can no longer do due to her hands having been affected by a stroke, so I painted them green, and plan on using them up. And tiny red beads make good berries.

Shame about the snakes, the result is still pretty great!
-
I can't read "snakes in a pond" without hearing Samuel Jackson's voice lol
Cool terrain piece. Definitely a nice change of pace from the normal post apoc stuff.
-
I like to add pieces that reflect the attempts to keep going - like the Ghoul-run Tarberry bog in a swimming pool from Fallout 4, or the settlement on an overpass for protection in Fallout 3.
-
And, hey, since I did a post-apoc Scooby Gang for the LPL this last time, I realized I wasn't entirely happy with an old converted ambulance as a Mystery Machine, and since there was one available from Armorcast...

Um, what? I feel like I am missing something here.

Very nice stuff here. Just refund this topic. Love the scooby doo gang and both of their rides. Hope to see your chainsaw plot point soon!

I plan to start this weekend - I am laying out the plans for it, as this will require some work instead of just winging it like my usual.
-
And here is the build for the chainsaw plot point. Well, more of a small building.

-
Wonderful work -really great build and paint project.

Again... wonderful beautiful work here. :-*
-
That will be a great plot point. A perfect implementation of the commercial!
-
Eh c.
Um, what? I feel like I am missing something here.
Not as much as I am.
Let's go with Excellent.
-
Great bunch of figures and terrain. Brilliant work.
-
Thanks! Good to see you over here in the LAF!
-
Love the idea of a small diorama for a plot point.
Consider the idea well & truly nicked.
-
Some more figures are getting painted...

The Mutant Hounds are from Wasteland Warfare - wayyyy too big based on scale in game, but they'll do.
And a glowing Deathclaw! I have no idea where he came from - I must have ordered him at some point from some smaller company, but I don't know who.

So, some work is getting done even if I am still out there working in spite of everyone else I know being on quarantine.
I realized I needed a graveyard to go with my wall of chainsaws, for the darned kids to hide in. Super simple, mainly just leftovers from the old GW zombie sprues.

And a few more filler vignettes for inside buildings.

Your Deathclaw is a "Wasteland Monster" from Warhansa. Good little collection of not-Fallout stuff there: http://warhansa.com/index.php/katalog/sci_fi1435327910.html (http://warhansa.com/index.php/katalog/sci_fi1435327910.html)

Great work. Love it.

Great work. Love it.
From you, that's big. There's a reason I squee'd like a schoolgirl when Captain Blood invoked your name when complimenting the build.
-
Hmm, I wonder what that one skeleton was doing when they died? ;)
Seriously though, that's a great build you did there.
-
That's fantastic. All the details just tell a story. Great work!
-
That's an amazing build! Those bodies must have been great fertiliser for the irradiated vines!
-
Incredible thread! You have an excellent eye Sinewgrab. Such imagination and skill. Respect!
-
That is a really fantastic table.
-
Thank you - there's years of crazy built into that. If you get bored, look at the first post in this thread to get links to the first two threads, and everything on that table should be there, including some of the hows.

Love that greenhouse, got a great Wastelands 2 vibe.

So, we got ourselves a 3D printed dropship, that I am going to use as a Vertibird.

There is a Vertibird on thingiverse, not sure what scale
-
Ooohh, now that IS cool.
-
There is a Vertibird on thingiverse, not sure what scale
Well, I did not print it - I do not own a 3D printer, but I went crazy with my birthday money on Etsy earlier this month, and this was one of the items for $40.
:D
-
You've done some fantastic pieces of terrain. Very inspirational.
-
SO, lately I have been on a kick of trying to either finish or somehow revisit old projects that have been hanging over my head for, well, years.
I invested heavily in the original GW Lord of the Rings game, and then found I hated the rules. The Balrog model languished on my shelf as I sold most everything else to people who were more interested in playing. The Balrog taunted me. I tried 3 times to paint him to look like the movie, and stripped him because he wasn't working. Now, he's gets to be a Deathclaw.
I pulled the wings off, and made him an Albino.
-
Also along these lines, tonight I finished this big girl. I had a Reaper Bones Dracolich that I had never gotten painted before the campaign I got him for ended, so I revised him into a her. I found a head at a 3D printer, got them to size it up for me, and a Dracolich became a Scorchbeast Queen.
In progress shot:
And I finished her tonight.

I'm happy with how she came out. Right scale too.
-
Genius conversions mate!
-
That turned out great. Your Scorchbeast will certainly dominate any table she is on!
-
This has been a really fun read. Your skills are amazing and thanks for sharing, the greenhouse is my favourite.
-
I know where the little deathclaw came from, he'd make a good child sized one compared to the Modiphius version
http://warhansa.com/index.php/katalog/wateland_monster.html
-
And some more Deathclaw action. I always liked the Chameleon version in 4, so I went for that color scheme.
The Modiphius figures are kind of hit or miss in the PVC. Feels like detail was lost. I have some resins coming (I indulged in the Mirelurk Queen preorder) and we'll see how they are. The resin humans I got (Piper and Cait!) seem to hold better detail than the PVC.
-
My son has bought me the Survivor in X-01 armour and the armoured Dogmeat; the detail is heads and shoulders about the plastic stuff I've seen.
-
Good to know. I was disappointed in Cait and Piper - the faces are very soft features.
-
And a big post of stuff - I've been painting (less involved stuff than my greenhouse, though - not everything need to be a showpiece, because I use a lot of this for more than one genre) terrain and few figs here and there.
I have found that I really like 3d printed terrain when it is done well.
A bombed chateau - that I think looks perfect for my Scooby Gang to investigate.

A pair of building I picked up when someone was getting out of Fallout Wasteland Warfare - I had to repaint them, as they were...not great...and they weren't put together well, but they'll do as long as I put enough fluff around them.

And I have been experimenting with Clanmac's slat technique, but I find that it is not as easy to use with 3d prints, and the paint runs along the tiny little lines between layers, and the salt sticks above them. All in all, a decent first try. I also poured resin into the one tank to be water, and tried a technique I had seen where you paint several layers of color to simulate fish between pours.

And finally, a set of security fences to add yet another layer of barrier to moving around in the wasteland.

Wow, that 3d printer is earning its money right now. Lovely stuff. The chateau is superb.

Amen to that.

I like the chateau.
The fish look great.

Wow wow wow

Dang! I really need to get a 3D printer......

And a small bat creature to use for a small scorchbeast.

Looks the part! Great work as usual mate.

Very nice.
What is the model?

It's a resin 3D print I snagged off an eBay seller. Called it a Bloodhunter Dire Bat.

Oh my, it has been a few months since I posted in this thread.
Well, new stuff is here!
We had a weekend recently that I ended up iced in here in the Northwest of the US, and I finally buckled down and finished up my Mirelurk Horde. I purchased the deal from Moephidius, and since I received that, I also have gotten a 3D resin printer as a Christmas present, so I printed some of my own Mirelurks - from the 3D models you see in the loading screens for Fallout 4. I also added a couple of other models that felt like Mirelurks to me.
I was aiming for a similar color scheme to an Eastern Atlantic Blue Crab - it appealed to me, and I tried get that mix of blue, green, yellow, and red.
This is the original pair of Mirelurks from the deal.

Loving it all mate, especially the Mirelurks.
-
Love the mirelurk colour scheme. Love the models and want to get some more so I'm going to have to copy that.
-
I started with a base coat of green brown with the airbrush, then went to bright blue where it shows in pictures on the crabs, red on the claws, and then drybrushed the entire beast with a pale yellow.
I'm happy with it - there are plenty who can paint better, but I am not disappointed.
-
Pretty sure chainsaws hanging from chains will be among my next project for the Cannibal camp. Cool optic. (http://)
Found a familiar face from Hasslefree known as Abercrombie. Gave him a back pack dirty bomb and a dead man's switch. Second in command for the Cannibal faction after Maw Maw.

If you want some printed for you, PM me. I might be able to hook you up, since I do have the resin printer, and yer a man after me own heart.

Ooh, I feel like that survivor's going to need more than one powersuit to survive such lovely lurks! Great paint jobs on those.
