Title: Nord's Blood Rage Saga
Post by: Nord on December 13, 2017, 12:01:38 PM
I am not a massive fan of pvc figures, but the Blood Rage game was just too tempting - vikings, trolls, giants and more! A really nice bonus was that I bought it purely for the figures, but the game is actually pretty good too. Anyway, on to the figures, which I have painted sporadically to say the least.

First one I painted was Fenris, fairly quick and with mostly just washes and a bit of drybrushing.

Then I painted a human sized figure, at the time to test out some new paints I had bought. This is Thor, and yes he is supposed to have a red beard.

And then just this week I painted up a couple of bearded figures, a wee dwarf and a not so wee storm giant. Really enjoyed painting them.

And here they all are together. The bases are inconsistent because I painted them at different times, and they are not part of any particular "force" or collection, though I will probably make them more consistent at some point.

Very nicely done. The rock in the frost giant's hands looks so real - in what order did you apply the colors to it using your glazing technique?

Superb! I love your use of greens and reds in the shading - really effective.

As kaiser said, the work on the rock is astonishing.

Thanks. I can't remember what I did exactly. The whole model was primed white and then washed blue as a foundation, then I started building from there. The rock will have been stippled for the initial textures, then glazed a little. Just some greys by the look of it, there's definitely some green glazing going on too. I mix colours on my palette and tend to just slap them on for a fairly rough but realistic effect. Sorry I can't be more specific, with individual models like this I tend to go with the flow rather than follow a rigid recipe.
