Title: Pulp Alley Burning Desert Battle Report
Post by: Bessy on December 27, 2017, 02:16:38 AM
Here is my first battle report for Pulp Alley, I played Phantom Ace against the servants of Apophis and Dave played the Servants of Apophis.

The intrepid Heroes setting up ready to battle it out!

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0932_zpscpyskrhd.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0932_zpscpyskrhd.jpg.html)
The evil servants of Apophis ready to strike back.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0933_zpsdqbamshf.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0933_zpsdqbamshf.jpg.html)
Gauge doesn't hesitate to make her way to the Strange Statue, could this be it? Could this be the entrance to the tomb of Apophis?

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0935_zpsfduy84t6.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0935_zpsfduy84t6.jpg.html)
Rutherford goes left, intent on searching the abandonded camp site for clues. Phantom Ace charges right down the middle of the table.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0936_zpstzjty2dz.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0936_zpstzjty2dz.jpg.html)
But wait... is that a menacing shadow lurking behind those bushes. The Risen Priest sidles up to the buxom run away slave, maybe she has more to offer than meets the eye.

Those dratted unseen perils, luckily Gauge has her Electro-goggles and is able to reduce the number of successes by 2, easy peasy!

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0939_zpsfvbfyroe.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0939_zpsfvbfyroe.jpg.html)
Score one for the Good Guys!

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0940_zpsyebqilsf.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0940_zpsyebqilsf.jpg.html)
Rutherford isn't having quite as good of luck. He is in quite a precarious position.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0941_zpsxpxerdnz.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0941_zpsxpxerdnz.jpg.html)
With pure determination Rutherford passes his Horror check, and knocks back the dreaded beast.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0942_zpsovb3fcks.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0942_zpsovb3fcks.jpg.html)
But wait there's more! A second sneaky critter comes galloping forward, Rutherford fails his horror check, but in the face of danger he stands Steadfast and strong.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0943_zps1k0a97nn.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0943_zps1k0a97nn.jpg.html)
Rutherford is knocked to the ground by the double dog dealing lizard of the desert.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0944_zps0hxpwwwl.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0944_zps0hxpwwwl.jpg.html)
"Hey girl, you ever seen a Risen Priest before?" The slime ball makes a wild stab at getting the bosomy slave to return with him to his tent.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0945_zpspwru5akl.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0945_zpspwru5akl.jpg.html)
Incredible, he succeeds! There's no accounting for taste.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0946_zpskcw8aaqd.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0946_zpskcw8aaqd.jpg.html)
The Abominations sneeeeak around using their ultra secret double special (for this scenario only rule), and shadow move to try and sneak up on an occupied Gauge as she continues to investigate the strange statue and the secrets it holds.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0948_zpsfcrzsnwu.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0948_zpsfcrzsnwu.jpg.html)
Rutherford gets back up and breaks away from the clawing clutches of his enemy.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0949_zpsgdpqqvmk.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0949_zpsgdpqqvmk.jpg.html)
But he is overpowered.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0953_zps0l0njcik.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0953_zps0l0njcik.jpg.html)
A moment of silence for our fallen comrade.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0951_zpsaqqzkwal.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0951_zpsaqqzkwal.jpg.html)
These two Abominations think they can take down the great and super awesome Gauge, only time will tell.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0952_zpsgv7qcjdm.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0952_zpsgv7qcjdm.jpg.html)
The end of turn two, poor Rutherford is down, Phantom Ace has powered his way up the hights cliff, hot on the heels of Mad Aziz.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0954_zpsqgwmw3cp.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0954_zpsqgwmw3cp.jpg.html)
Parley starts the third turn.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0956_zpsnvc3ho5n.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0956_zpsnvc3ho5n.jpg.html)
Phantom Ace doesn't hesitate to make his move, and he gets Mad Aziz, and turns ready for the fight he knows is sure to follow him up the cliff.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0961_zpsqwmh1lgi.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0961_zpsqwmh1lgi.jpg.html)
How many servants of Apophis does it take to snag the interesting tid bit left behind at the campsite? Two apparently.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0962_zpsrocrbbpc.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0962_zpsrocrbbpc.jpg.html)
Gauge has cunningly evaded the abominations, and is all set to go through that extremely interesting chest of tools that was abandoned, as Phantom Aces stands tall waiting two guns at the ready to take down any who appose him.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0964_zpsof5cggvp.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0964_zpsof5cggvp.jpg.html)
Gauge drools over the treasure trove that is now at her finger tips after her three successes.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0966_zpsmy9hnr03.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0966_zpsmy9hnr03.jpg.html)
A sneak attack tries to take her down, but the girl is just too tough. Her injury is just a scratch, you should see the other guy!

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0968_zpssvojmdlt.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0968_zpssvojmdlt.jpg.html)
Ace takes a hit but he keeps his feet, ready for another chance to take down this weasel of a Risen Priest.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0969_zpselyksolv.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0969_zpselyksolv.jpg.html)
What's that I smell? The Priest's pets are clammoring up the cliff, ready to help take down Phantom Ace!!

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0970_zpso5mwvzmo.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0970_zpso5mwvzmo.jpg.html)
Gauge isn't worried, this is THE Phantom Ace after all.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0971_zpshlebw38d.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0971_zpshlebw38d.jpg.html)
In a burst of fury and rage, Phantom Ace tosses the lot Lizard over the side of the cliff! No body messes with him.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0973_zpshpxxhvfi.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0973_zpshpxxhvfi.jpg.html)
Even bloody and bruised, Ace manages to stand victorious dodging and scrapping his way out of the fight. And so ends the final turn.

(http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o665/pulpalley/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0977_zpssbfrfbl4.jpg) (http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/pulpalley/media/AAR/12-17%20Burning%20Desert/IMG_0977_zpssbfrfbl4.jpg.html)

And so we end it here, the good guys socking it to the baddies one more time. Phantom Ace has Mad Aziz and is ready to track down Apophis. Hope you enjoyed my blathering, I had a super awesome time playing Pulp Alley, and can't wait to play more. And a big thanks to Dave for playing with me, its always fun.

I like your Mahdist conversions, they might look good in an Egyptian IHMN army.

What a fantastic report.  A great read, and Dave’s terrain is looking super as usual. I hope there will be many more to come.

It is nice to see you step out from behind the camera and do a report. Maybe next time make Garrett or Dave run the camera? This just makes the anticipation of getting my Pulp Alley order even harder to handle. I want those minis!. LOL

Great write up with great pictures to show the action!

And like everyone else I'm hugely envious of the Pulp Alley terrain you play on!

I like the contours on the main boards and particularly like the texture. Is it wallpaper based?

Well done - This is certainly one of the most entertaining Pulp Alley game reports I have read. Nice sense of humour and the events were all perfectly clear to me.

I do find with PA that because there is so much happening at the same time the game reports seem a little confusing, you have sorted order out of chaos, I very much enjoyed the read.

There's nothing more to say about Dave's scenery and figures, they are lovely, but you've presented the game in the best possible light.

I very much enjoyed it. Please do more.

The texture is a patio/deck restoration goop. It is called "Restore, Liquid Armor Resurfacer".

I brush it on with a paintbrush. It is intended to be walked on, so it holds up to gaming really well.  ;)

Thanks Dave. I can’t imagine a patio covered in that, but the boards look great!
