I have a plan. It's something to support my new range (and only new range) for 2018. It's not innovative or clever, just a piece of scenery with a little narrative for the theme. I'm definitely not looking to win anything or even improve on my previous best of fourth place (twice, I think).
-
My current thinking is to build a small rural Japanese graveyard suitable for use in games of Ronin. The 'ill advised' element will come in the form of a samurai at the entrance to the cemetery and the Supernatural presence that will be visible inside. He would be ill advised to enter.
Edit: I've called it a bochi but I'm not really sure that's the correct term. Please feel free to correct me!

Massively late in starting due to other things, but the general build is underway.
-
Ooh, I'm a big Ronin player so keen to see where this goes - nothing looks better on a wargames table than Japanese scenery.
-
Thank you. I've been tempted by a Sengoku skirmish setting for a while so this will be my new range for the year. I'm intending on keeping it at less than 50 figures and perhaps a small village.
-
Looks very promising :)
cheers

Looking good so far, mate.
Nice etching of the foam, much better for your sanity than ikkal bikkal individual bricks, I reckon.

lol lol
I said that about Strange Aeons.....
-
Thanks again. I'm hopeful that I'll maintain it as a low mini count excursion, primarily based on the fact that I think I may look to expand an existing collection this year too.

Dude! Fantastic looking stonework on your base, and glad to see another Japanese themed entry :)
-
You may have started slightly late-ish, but you've already more work in it than I have in mine, and it looks good already 8) 8) 8)

Great start mate! 8)

Never a patch on your stuff mate, but I appreciate the comments!

Looking good so far. ;D

Thank you good sir.
A bit more tonight; front and rear shots. I'll probably sand the edge of the base to take the squareness off. I shouldn't have put the clay over the top yet as I've ordered some of those lovely Oshiro Model Terrain grave markers to cover some of the allowed purchases.

In the post ;)

Excellent, thank you.

Very nice work so far.

Thanks. A little bit more last night building a torii. It's currently being held together with clothes pegs while the glue dries, so no worthwhile pictures. I still need to add the gakuzuka when the pegs are out of the way.

Looking good so far, mate.
:-*
I have no idea what comes next with all these Japanese words (and I am too lazy to look them up) but I look forward to updates very much.
Oh, Yes!

It's just the bit in the middle between the nuki and the shimagi. ;D

Torii in place. Its supposed to be quite a rural looking one, nothing too ornate. A few other bits and pieces were done too.

Well, I pretty much got the build finished but I'm going to be pushing it to the for painting and flocking by Saturday given work, diy and stuff. I'll definitely finish it as I think it'll be a useful piece of terrain. Undercoated model below. I wasn't going to make some of the memorials myself but as I'm likely to miss the deadline I'll probably use mostly bought ones.
I'm trying to attach a photo but I keep encountering an error.
-
An image upload problem is ongoing, but is being tackled; BUT due to this issue I decided to extend the deadline by a week - remember that the final image posted here should not have anything beyond the undercoat.

Success; photo of undercoated model. The memorials are to be painted separately so are not yet fixed in place.

Looks great mate 8)

Fantastic mate! :-* I can almost imagine you’re final shot already!
-
Nicely done mate! I like the variation in size and shape of the memorials :)
-
Thanks guys. I'm not sure I'll get it painted in time but I'll definitely finish it as it'll be a useful bit of terrain.
-
That looks cracking, mate.
:-*
With the added bonus of being pretty useful in a few genres too.

Thanks mate. I have a few more place mats so I might extend it.

I fully intend on painting this once I've finished painting the living room and dining room so would it be possible to move this to the Far East board please?
Thank you
