That, sir, is one of the nicest looking games I've ever seen.  Well done.

Question, though, what is the inspiration behind the green coated troops on the British side using the wheeled mantlets as firing cover?  I've never read of mantles being used in the AWI so would love to know if there is a historical basis or is this a bit of gamers latitude?  Okay either way.

@FifteensAway,

I assume that these are meant to be Hesse-Cassel jaeger; there is evidence from Ewald's "Diary of the American War", that his parent unit possessed at least two of these weapons which were designed to give longer-range hitting power.  Two of them are known to have been part of Ewald's force at Van Derring's Mill on the west flank (Anglo-German left) of the Germantown battlefield.

The mantlets could either be wheeled, as with the "wall gun" (essentially a large musket), or simple boards used to protect artillery crew operating "amusettes" (1-2 pounders).  I would add the former to any jaeger group numbering two or more companies, or any legionary force (primarily Queen's Rangers) with "very light" artillery, and count them as cover, along the same type as a low wall.

The figures themselves are Perry AWI pack 123, see here:-
