Hello all
Usually i dont place here anything but i check your threads from time to time.
IŽm a big fan of Star Wars and am starting a 15mm project and probably a 28mm too.
I transformed a Crooked Dice figure into a SW rebel pilot as my first band of rebels.
Hope you like it. It was a fun to do it and its growing into some crazy ideas to expand. :)
As i would need more projects... :?
Cheers
Rui
-
Nice conversion.
-
That's very effective!
Now; orange him up! :D
-
Waiting for some brush job, indeed!!!! :-*
-
Thank you for the kind comments. :)
IŽm not a good painter though. :?
Lets see how it ends.
-
Nicely done!
-
Great conversion, Riu :)
-
Great Job ;)!! waiting to see what is coming next...
-
Nice green stuff work Rui!
-
Great work
-
Thanks guys. :)
On the painting table. ;)
-
I concur - really nice work.
Look forward to seeing him painted up.
-
And here it is, painted. :)
Also my next one. No transformation.
Maybe the start of a small rebel band. :D
-
Excellent conversion!
-
Nice conversions.
-
Really nice conversion, might have to steal that idea!
-
Cracking stuff Rui 8) 8) 8) 8)
-
Looks great, must restart my Star Wars project at some point
-
great job, are you using 7TV's Star Wars mod - great set of skirmish rules
-
Thank you for the kind comments. :)
Psullie so far iŽm just gathering figures but probably i will be using Flying Lead from Ganesha.
This will be a long project as well as in 15mm too.
-
Here is the second rebel.
This time a woman.
No conversion. Just how it is. :)
-
And both painted side by side.
-
And the 3rd rebel.
A sullustan fighter.
Sorry for the crap photos but my camera wont do better than this. :?
Again a crooked dice figure and the rest is GS.
Some minor corrections after dry and thats it.
-
Oooh, I like him. Good job on the face, it really looks the part! Can't wait to see him painted.
-
Nice green stuff work, and I also a nice change from the usual big-headed Sullustan with stocky legs, narrow shoulders, and rotund belly! :D
-
Nice conversion/sculpting.
That figure is useful for weapon swaps (such as the Hasslefree V.E.R.A.).
http://ultravanillasmurf.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/experimental-weapon.html (http://ultravanillasmurf.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/experimental-weapon.html)
-
That's some more sweet greenstuffing - keep up the good work.
-
Thanks all. :)
Sir Dryden he will be painted soon (as real life allows). :D
Dinohunterpoa, i think not all Sullustans would look the same. Some would be tall, others thin, others short and fat, etc. Thats the reason i made him this way. ;)
Ultravanillasmurf, thanks and indeed this miniature looks great with other weapons like yours. ;)
Nice blog by the way.
Genghis, here is the next and last for a while.
This time a TwiŽlek female fighter for my crew/unit. Again a Crooked Dice figure with GS.
Painting soon.
Comments and ideas are welcome. :)
-
Really nice, and spot on again. I've tried converting a human figure to a twi lek before, it wasn't a success...I've saved a copy of your pics for future reference because I just might give it another try!
-
Very nicely done!
-
You are on fire with these Rui! :o
The Twi'lek is (so far) my favourite, painted or not! :)
-
Thank you Sir Dryden. :)
Its not dificult to do it. Leave the head extensions for the last.
Use just two rolls of GS, drill 2 holes on the head, put a small pin in each one as the base for the GS rolls, press them on the pins and then bend them to the proper position.
Push the Excess of the GS on the head and shape them as extensions.
Last but not east use two small balls of GS for the hears and shape them to the proper size.
Hope this helps a bit. :)
-
Uti long smile, thanks. :)
Antti, hope you like them. Its a great fun to do them. :)
-
That Twi'lek is very good, nice gs work mate.
-
Thanks for the tips Ruma, much appreciated.
-
Thanks Steve. :)
Sir Dryden, i hope it helps. Feel free to ask something and i will try my best to help. :)
-
Great Conversions rumacara :-*, thanks to share your technique!!! ;)
-
as said before, good Sullustan but better Twilek!
Great work!
-
Thanks Orc and Agis. :)
Agis, your thread is certainly my inspiration. ;)
I may do another Sullustan this time shorter and fat. ;)
-
Dinohunterpoa, i think not all Sullustans would look the same. Some would be tall, others thin, others short and fat, etc. Thats the reason i made him this way. ;)
EXACTLY! Very well done!
This time a TwiŽlek female fighter for my crew/unit. Again a Crooked Dice figure with GS.
Painting soon.
Comments and ideas are welcome. :)
LOVELY!!! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
Ok, we all have a soft spot for female Twi'leks... be them exotic dancers, dashing pilots or scantily dressed Force users... :D

So true... ;)
-
Great work again. This is a good little project
-
more great stuff Rui 8) 8) 8) 8)
-
I don't recall that Twi'lek scene from any of the films?
-
Elk, I think that's from Last Jedi. I'm not sure though. I spent half of the movie with my eyes closed, slowly shaking my head, whispering "What the fuuuu**"...

Elk, I think that's from Last Jedi. I'm not sure though. I spent half of the movie with my eyes closed, slowly shaking my head, whispering "What the fuuuu**"...
It might have had more relevance to the plot (yes, such as it was) than most of the rest of the Last Jedi.
-
Thanks David and Keith. :)
-
Excellent work, Rui!
:-* :-*
I am tempted to have a go myself....
:D
-
Thanks Paul.
It will be a slow project but with a future.
Contrary to some others of mine... lol
-
Oh, I had missed these! Wow, this is a lovely work! :o
-
Thank you Suber. :)
-
Technician painted.
Crooked dice figure with just some pockets sculped.

More of the twiŽlek and the sullustan.
-
The 3 newly painted and the 5 figures so far.
-
These are great Rui, well done. Any more planned?
-
Thanks James. :)
Yes i have more planned.
Another sullustan this time a technician, 2 or 3 rebel naval troopers or more, a few more armed and equiped with several items (probably 1 or 2 more non humans), more technicians and other non-armed figures as well as the imperials.
Just waiting for some stuff from Ainsty Castings and 3 more figures from other sorce and i can start more conversions.
Lets see where this project takes me. ;)
-
Looking good. What figure is the Technician? (I've just had a quick skim through the Crooked Dice store & couldn't readily find her.)
-
Genghis, there you have it:
http://www.crooked-dice.co.uk/wp/product/daredevils/
You have to pick one of the 3 (Charlie Dare) or the 3 pack.
-
Nice stuff Rui 8) 8) 8)

Nicely done, Rui.

-
And some painting done.
Rebel general, technician and fighter.

-
Very nice conversions again.
-
Thank you Ultravanillasmurf. :)
-
Great stuff, mate.
:-*
Are you converting the whole Rebel Alliance?
;D ;)
-
Thanks Paul. :)
Well, my rebel force is almost 100 % converted figures so yes. ;D :D
All i need is a R2D2 type droid or something similar. :)
Then to the imperials and scenario. :D
-
Imperial pilot converted.
Sorry for the crap pictures.
This one will only be properly seen when painted. :?
I may try to sculp the helmet and put on the floor.
-
Nice job.
-
Excellent
-
Very good indeed :)
-
It totally looks the deal. Cracking job.
-
Thank you gentlemen.
Already on the painting table. :)
More to come soon.
-
Some more figures to the collection.
This time WOTC ones with a light painting job on them.
Just a matt varnish and they are ready.
Imperial pilot, rebel pilot and a alien technician.
-
A long time i dont update this thread so its time to do it.
IŽve started scratchbuilding a troop transport some days ago so here are the first pics.
As iŽm going on i will place the progress.
-
It doesnt look much now but as it progresses it will take shape.
Opinions and tips are welcome. :)
-
Looks good to me mate :)
Are you going to add cushions to the seats? Also, what sort of exterior shape are you going for?
-
nice start
-
Excellent stuff Rui ;D
-
Are you going to add cushions to the seats? Also, what sort of exterior shape are you going for?
Probably no cushions on the seats. I dont want to detail much of the interior for only part of it will be visible and i can always put some extras on the back entrance like supplies being loaded/unloaded.
The exterior shape will be tricky to me. The transport has straight lines so i think it will be hard to disguise that to an acceptable shape. IŽve started the front/cockpit and the engines and soon i will post some photos.
Malamute, Tomrommel1 and Oshiro, thank you. :)
-
Just discovered this thread...only two years late.. ;D
Some lovely conversions on some familiar-looking figures
8)
-
Thank you AKULA. :)
Some progress.
Front/Cockpit started.
Engines started
Small side winds/engine supports started
Opinions and tips are welcome. :)
-
And general look and size of the transport.
-
Some updates.
Starting to add details outside and interior almost ready.
-
Wow!
-
Some updates.
More stuff glued outside and taking its final shape before adding more details.
2 rebel figures converted.
-
That's really coming together great mate 8)
-
Thanks James. :)
Thanks Ultravanillasmurf. :)
-
I love scratchbuilds - doubly so when it's SW related!
-
That's ace! Loving this thread :-*
-
Thanks Maddoc. :)
Thanks Nick. :)
A few more bits and pieces.
Engines glued and starting some details.
I need to get a lot more bits and pieces to decorate the transport. :?
-
looking good but shouldn't the engines be a bit bigger? looks a bit weak propulsion system for such a big ship. Who wants to be a sitting duck in a planetary assault ;)
-
Clever use of cable covers (dont know the correct english term) :)
Is that a statuesque minatures head on that fleet trooper? If so, what size?
I've a similar conversion in mind :)
-
Thank you Tomrommel1 and Munindk. :)

Its what i had in hand. Maybe i replace them someday. For the time being they stay this way.

I bought the heads set some time ago but i think they have 2 sizes so go for the bigger wich i think is heroic size heads.
-
It's got a nice x-wing vibe to it 8)
-
Thanks James. It does. ;)
-
Love how that ship is coming together :-*
