Absolutely gorgeous :-*
What makes are the various terror bird type creatures? I need some!
-
Love it! :-* Even in this day an age when we know more than ever about dinos, hardly anyone paints them with nice display colours like yours! Everyone else’s always seem to be dull browns or greys!
Great basing too! 8)

Beautiful work. My favourite is the patterning of the Allosaurs
-
Excellent work! THANKS for sharing the photos.

Pacarat these are yet again excellent, sorry but I 2nd the request for the manufacturers.
I came across your blog today following something else and you only have one post for cavemen, I expected more.
Cheers

They are great! Well done! :o

Thanks for all the positive responses, folks.
I have to admit they turned out better than I expected. I used alot of thin washes and filters, (more than I typically do) and some light dry brushing. These figs have a lot of very fine scales and feathering that would be easy to lose with a heavy handed paint job. I spent a lot of time contemplating color schemes - that's one of my weaknesses. I usually just grab random colors for clothing and equipment, but for these guys I wanted the schemes to "make sense" so to speak. Did a lot of googlin' for inspiration.
Basing was fun to do, part of my ~400 figure backlog that I worked through over this past holiday season.
Figures are all old Ral Partha (now Iron Wind Metals), purchased at several
Historicons from huge plastic bins filled with loose figs, and paid for by the ounce. I haven't been to the con in a couple years so don't know if the vendor is still doing that. Bought a bunch of these plus african animals and dungeon bits and bobs from the bins as well.
And yep, my blog needs some updates... :?

AWESOME brushwork and choice of colors - very like the real deal, CONGRATULATIONS ! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
These are wonderful - well done :-*
-
Nicely done! :-* I really like the colour schemes.

More additions to the menagerie. Need to add a bit of flock and static grass.

Some hairy guys.

And some semi-hairy guys. Need to add a few primitive spears to three of them.

Damn, they're all a bit nice.

Blows my socks off!

Beautiful work with a great eye for patterns

Excellent work! :-*

Excellent stuff in this thread! :-*
Where is the large sandy coloured snake on the right from?
-
Thanks guys...
Snake is a plastic mini from one of the collectible/clix lines. I can’t remember brand, but I do remember removing the original base off of it.
I’ve had it for several years, think I picked it up from a bargain bin at a con. My search-fu not working this morning- couldn’t find it on google.

Pretty sure it's a D&D Miniatures Fiendish Snake from the Wrath of Ashardalon set.
EDIT: Or maybe Blood War. Maybe both. Hard to tell from the images online. Might be the same sculpt in each set. If the base on yours is about 1" diameter it's more likely Wrath.

Definitely D&D fiendish snake - good call.

What can I say, I really like repainting the prepaint stuff. Loads of junk that's not worth it (Sturgeon's Law holds true again) but also so many hidden gems that tend to get overlooked. :)

Yes, he still does that at all three cons (Cold Wars, Fall-In, and Historicon).

They have done some direct mail order too, for bits. I was either missing stuff, had incorrect parts or needed more. Plan to do some more digging at the con this July.

Conversions are always easier with plastics, agreed. Speaking of head swaps:

Very cool. Those first two are just... creepy. ;)
