I have the 28mm figure of this guy together with his dog as he directed the beach landings of D-Day. Can anyone tell me whether he wore Army or Navy Battledress?

Well if you want the Kenneth More version, it's army. Actually RN battledress is just army BD with RN rank and appointment badges isn't it?

I thought there was a Navy Blue version just as the RAF & RAAF had "teal blue" versions. Those I know because I wore them in Air Training Corps for several years. That included the detachable collars for at least the first year in ATC.

Teal blue?
When I was in ATC it was an ink blue furry scratchy baggy battledress :'(

Technically Teal Blue, in practice darker and yes, scratchy.
TT, what flight? I was 14 Flight as a cadet.

Never heard of it referred to as 'teal blue' at least not in relation to the RAF. Maybe you mean the powder blue public service look adopted by Ronnie RAAF in the 1970s?
At any rate RN Commandos, the matelots that provided the beach parties were definitely in khaki in 1944.

RN Commandos were a very different lot to the Beach Controllers of which Captain Maud was one, in fact may have been the top controller of one particular beach. All I'm asking is what colour uniform was he wearing, Army khaki or RN Navy Blue?

Well, er, no, actually. RN Commandos, in addition to clearing obstacles etc provided the working parties that worked under the direction of the Beach Masters.
I'm not talking about the bootnecks but matelots whose role was maintaining the flow of traffic onto and off the beach. The commando part of it related to their training to get the early parts of that job done. Beach Masters and Principal Beach Masters were part of their organisational structure.

Yes both Mauds are based on the film - the real dog was not a British Bulldog. His dog Winnie was actually a GERMAN Shepard lol
@ Pete - I was in No 702 Squadron – Cannington for about 3 or 4 years finished as a Flt Sgt before they could remove half my brain and make me an officer ;D

Thanks, Swiss Mick, that is just what I wanted.
TT, wasn't in long enough as I joined late, was 15 when I started. Did 18 months Reserve after being age de-mobbed from ATC, then Nashos intervened and I never went back after the Green Machine put me off military for ever.
