Bit of a rush-job this one was, trying to squeeze it in before Crimbo because a magazine needed the image for publishing deadlines. I would like to have another go at the sword, but otherwise it was a lovely model to work on. He's a big old boy, standing at about 35mm eye-height, so he'll tower regally over his subjects. I like the rather capricious look to him. This one's no nicey-nicey pixie type.

Nicely done. :)
He'd make a good Loki for OGAM...
-
Really nice, great painting on a great mini :-*
Is he available allready?

My first thought was "Loki" as well ;)

I don't know to be honest, but I know they've started advertising him.
-
Great paint job and he could be the first piece of lead this year :)
Cheers, Ross
-
As a rush job it's impressive. What did you use for the moss on the base?
-
Lovely work, as per usual, of course.

I was thinking the same, or even as a Celtic God like Nuada maybe.
Given that Cubs describes him as a 'big old boy' has sold that to me and I have gone and ordered one.
One can never have enough Gods for OGAM.
:)
He reminds me a little of Sting in Dune as well.
;)

It's my own blend of 1mm static grass (green and brown mixed) made into patches with a static electricity wand thingy. I can't really call them tufts, because they're too short for that.

Where is he from? Great Loki! 😀
-
He looks a bit like the Elf Pickle from the Kids tv show Knightmare
I might need this as a general for my Mark Copplestone Grenadier wood elves
-
Saw this fig the other day and added it to the 'To Get' list. Very nice brushwork there. You do it justice.

Grabbed it! Thanks Mate!

Terrific paint job! Very nice figure too - not the slightest hint of the tweeness that so often dogs elf-kind.
-
Fabulous -the figure and the paint.
-
Thanks guys, most kind.
Hopefully they'll restock him soon! I'm not sure they were expecting this level of interest.
-
Lovely paintwork; must admit I’m curious about this range AND the Oathmark elves
Part of me sees these as the more sinister of the two ranges though I’ve little to base that on!

Last time I looked there were a couple of Sting Kings available on ebay UK.
;)

The Lucid Eye range is probably my favourite range of miniatures I always forget about. Quite a few of like to buy but have absolutely no use for (but why wouldn't I need an Aleister Crowley?)
-
PERFECT Loki figure!
Excellent paint job, too!
-
Next for this range is Vashel Goldenhand. I wanted to keep his armour nice and dull so it looked archaic and the gold hand would stand out better.

And, given the serendipitous timing, here's the obligatory snowy shot in the back garden.

Gorgeous :-*.
Didn't know they were still around, as they've disappeared from the Warlord site...
-
Lovely brushwork.
The dark armour looks great.
:-* :-*
That snow looks pretty realistic too!
;)
-
The dark armour is very clever. The highlights in the skin and hair really add interest without making the contract between the dark and light too extreme.
-
Beautiful. You can buy them from Arcane Scenery and Models.
Great shot in the snow too. Lovely idea :)
-
Lucid Eye make some terrific miniatures. I love these elves. I'd love to know more about the background for the nordic style elves. I think their armor design is really fantastic, with enough novelty to feel fresh and rooted enough in history to feel plausible.
Cubs, any chance you could post some scale shots of the elves you've painted for Lucid Eye? I just want to know where they will fit in my collection.
-
Very nice figures beautifully painted but not too sure on the horned helmets

I ain't got 'em, sorry! But they're big fellas, designed to be heroes from legend at 35mm to the eye. Next to a 'normal' 28mm model they'd probably look like they were 7-8ft tall.
-
OK that second one is really nice I wasn't sold on the first one (though the paint job was great) but this mini is really nice.
-
You can buy them from Arcane Scenery and Models.
Thanks Captain! Seems like I missed quite a few must-haves of theirs....
-
Thank you for posting these!
Had been trying to find out whether these elves were closer to the 'heroic' GW type figures or to the 'true' 28mm ones, and not been able to get a straight answer - from what you have said, looks like they would be closer in size to the larger GW type minis?

They are big, but then the ones I've painted have been mighty inhuman hero types. I don't know if it's a case of them being in a bigger scale, or if these ones are just meant to be very tall individuals.

Just a quick update to let you know that you can get any of the 'Red Book of the Elf King' miniatures and rules, plus everything else that Lucid Eye makes from Sally 4th as well. We are Lucid Eye's official show stockists, so we keep plenty of everything in stock all the time. The next shows that we will be at are Fiasco (Leeds), Crisis (Antwerp) and Warfare (Reading).... and of course they are all available on our website too. http://sally4th.co.uk/Lucid-Eye (http://sally4th.co.uk/Lucid-Eye)
