Title: Trumpter Salute 2018 - Vancouver, BC, Canada - Mar 16/17/18 2018
Post by: Wirelizard on February 19, 2018, 08:38:37 PM
Who else is going to be at Trumpeter Salute 2018 in less than (!) a month?

I'm going to be running a pair of Pulp Alley games, both set in the same nasty (fishy?) isolated English hamlet, the first during the English Civil War and the second a few centuries later after WW1, with some modifications to the table to "update" things slightly between games.

I have a whole heap of scenery to finish and panic may or may not be starting to set in...

Ok, ok, where have you posted the photos?
It’s late, it’s snowing, I’m cold and have to get up early for work.
No pressure  :D

I'll get my photos organized sometime this week and posted here and to my blog - Brian

Great to meet some of the new up-Island Pulp Alley players, as well most of the usual suspects from the Mainland!

I have posted my photos to an Imgur album, Trumpeter's Salute (https://imgur.com/a/54Xrp). Throughout the day as I have time I will add descriptions. I admit my pictures don't really do the tables justice. I wanted to get mid game pictures but it was hard as there would be 6-8 people around even some of the smaller tables and it seemed rude to ask them to stop having fun so I could indulge myself ::)  :D. Here are a few:

An awesome looking AQTMF game:

Classic Battletech:

Axles and Alloys, an apocalyptic road rage game based on the Full Thrust rules, IIRC:

28mm SCW using the Bolt Action rules:

The Empire Strikes Back! Stormtroopers have to clear the rebels from the trenches:

Excellent, many thanks - a lot of nice looking games :-*

Are most of the attendees from the Vancouver area?

Quick question - on one of your photos on the trumpeter web site the label say “.... it was a pick up game” what is that ?

Please excuse my ignorance if obvious o_o

Yes, the vast majority. There was 8 of us from Vancouver Island that I was aware of and at least one fellow from Washington State.

By "pick up game" I meant it wasn't a planned game. Either there was a cancellation or a spare table so someone organised a game. There was one guy who booked tables at three different time slots and didn't show up for any of them ::)

Many thanks again for explaining things

If you ever see a grey haired English man looking lost and bewildered at one of your club nights - then I will have finally co ordinated my life, my retirement and my holidays  o_o

Nice photo of my game there!

I discovered that eight players each running a full ten point league is really too many bodies and too many figures, but on the other hand it made for good complicated mayhem and nobody was able to skulk around and win by default while everyone else beat each other up!

Also, this might be the prettiest table I've ever fielded... but I might also be biased!  lol

You might be biased but you should certainly be proud. :D

Your table did indeed look awesome!  All in all I thought it was a bit thin this year:/

Apparently tickets sales were about the same as previous years (per one of the Trumpeter officers I chatted with in passing) but the selection of games did seem a bit thinner than previous years.

Having never been to a wargames convention before, I was impressed by the variety of rules people were using. By "a bit thinner" do you mean the variety of time periods/rules/games systems or the quality/quantity of eye candy?
