Title: Best places to buy minis in the UK
Post by: JNorton on March 18, 2018, 08:07:26 AM
Hi,

I'm pretty new to this forum so forgive me if my search fu is poor :)

Im getting back into mini painting, no particular games line, just good looking figures with dynamic posed, think GW heroes, Wild West Exodus, especially the legendary ones, Wryd (so far), anyway apart from eBay and Amazon the best places appear to be:

Goblin Games
Element Games
Wayland

Are there any real gems I've missed?

Cheers

https://www.darksphere.co.uk (https://www.darksphere.co.uk) seems to be the go-to discounter of choice for the members of my club.

North Star, our kind host here, also carry a massive range of goodies.

Thanks, I'll add Dark Sphere to the list :)

When I was thinking of getting back into painting (only a few weeks ago) I did trot down to Warhammer World as I'm only 30 or some miles away, but on reflection I should have looked at the exhibition and then bought online, I could have easily saved £20, but you live and learn.

For slightly more obscure minis try figures4sale and mighty lancers games.

I'd also recommend buying from the manufacturer  (at least in the UK) - there are two pinned threads in the fantasy section for example that list makers.

Thank you, I'd not noticed that.

Edit: Was it the "Sources for cheap 28mm fantasy minis" thread?
Sadly looks like it was abandoned in 2013, but still, only nine pages to go through.

I do use element a lot (always had good service) or places like troll trader through their ebay shop. Northstar also get a lot of my custom especially for historical.

Buying direct from the manufacturer is always good.

My taste in fantasy stuff runs to old school type stuff so Forlorn Hope, Ral Partha Europe, Black tree designs and Midlam miniatures tend to be my.go to places.

There's also Firestorm Games, they seem to stock a few things the other go-to shops don't such as Arena Rex, apparently.

Thanks again all, I had at some point bumped into Firestorm, but they need to sort their menus, luckily the search works well :D

Theo, sorry Sir Theo ;) I knew I'd seen Troll Trader somewhere - I got my AP Washes from them, I guess thats the problem with eBay, unless you end up going back time and again they're just another name, sad really as they're real people with real businesses.

I second (or possibly third or more) this suggestion.

If you live close to London you can visit their shop (if you are buying a big box the RRP savings will pay for your travel card). Nearest tube station is Lambeth North. Oh, and there are strange mosaics under the viaduct.

I’ve been there I think. Quite a cool shop if it’s the right one.
