Picked up a couple of shadespire sets to paint up. A bit different to what I usually work on but were an enjoyable challenge and came out looking okay.

The miniatures leave me cold I really don't like the way AOS stuff looks.... but the paint job is freaking amazing out of interest what do you usually work on?
-
Same feeling than Diablo John. I really don't like the way AOS stuff looks.... but the paint job is really great. Bowing to you sir !

Quoting for truth!
Echoing the others, I am not keen on the 'dwarfs' but the orcs are nice models, as are what I've seen of the other Shadespire sets.
Really though, too modest, they are beyond any standard I will ever achieve :)

Fantastic painting!
I quite like the quality of the Shadespire models.
-
Love the paintwork, hate the models. Really wonderful work though!

Lovely! That yellow on the Orks is astounding! :-* Are you going to do the Undead team?

That's why I tend towards more vivid colours.

Yes, I'm intending to paint all of the teams or whatever they are called. These were tests to get a feel for the models and come up with a suitable approach. I've done so many single characters that I was a little concerned I'd struggle painting a group but it went better than expected. If things go to plan (not a guarantee given how this year has been) I'll be doing tutorials too.

Stunning brushwork!
:-* :-*
I have been following your Supers for a good while now and it is good to see you taking your style into another genre. I have been eyeing up those weird Dwarves for a while now and you are not helping my resistance with pictures like that....

Grand show, I have some of those orcs - er, orruks - lying around. Love your take on the colours for their armour.
-
I've repainted my orcs, improving the colours and adding more detailing.

How did you do them?

How did you do them?
For the colour I used a dark turquoise mixed with my base skin colour. I started by painting lines, some parallel around the arms and some along the arm following the curve. I then filled in the lines using a mix of triangles, lines and hashes. If you look close enough it's a bit of a mess but at this scale it's unlikely you'd see much detail any way. What's important is to give the impression of a tattoo and add detail to the model.
-
OT, can i asked you how you painted the bases? the stones and the stains and esle? :)
-
I'm shouting all kind of insults to my screen. But don't worry, it's just pure envy :D
Sir, I love your work.
-
good grief ... the tatoos ... o_o :-*
-

For the stones I applied a basecoat of dark grey (german grey vmc), followed lighter greys using a kind of stippling motion, with each colour applied to a smaller area. I used quite thick paint for this. The skulls I went with a typical beige basecoat, brown wash, bone highlight. The dust/earth was added by loading up a flat brush with brown pigment and tipping this onto selected parts of the base. This was then fixed into place using pigment fixer.

Their tat artist has done some awesome ink!!
-
The red on the beards is just astounding! :o
-
The blending here is insane; on the orc armor and the dwarven beards.
It looks almost airbrushed it's so good. And the tattoos? Wow.
Amazing, bravo!
