I hope I've got all numbers correctly, if you see any mistakes please let me know.
Thanks and have fun!

Hey hey! I got the leader board picture. That's all I ever wanted. Doesn't much matter what happens now. :)

Rightfully deserved as well.

It fits perfectly

Anything wrong, please let me know. Thanks.

Awu
You're storming this year and have got yourself on the leader board picture - brilliantly done
-
Go Dylan! :D
-
Heahahah. Thanks Khartoum.
But this is luck of the draw of the first rounds.
:)
I expect us to meet in the middle as Swiss system will now pitch me against real leaders:>
But the leadorboard is mine this week :P
-
Go Dylan! :D
Thanks, H, for that touching bit of support. I'm very pleased I have had one week at the top, but I can't see it lasting. The damn Swiss thing (bloody Swiss, they should mind their own business like when there's a war) is bound to put me up against someone too good to beat now. I have a sneaking suspicion who it will be, Fate loves a good joke and no good deed goes unpunished.
Oh, Keith, you recall we agreed you could have those figures on condition you promised to paint them badly, yeah? ;)

I have faithhin you. Surely you are no stranger to fighting dirty?

Varnish disaster is keeping Round 4 particularly exciting for me at the moment. Can't hep feeling there's a lesson about timing there somewhere.
Whoever I'm up against might be competing against some very shiny toy soldiers ;-)
Based on the brilliant entries so far I reckon there's still everything to play for.
-
Nooooooo! That's one of the most frustrating and dispiriting things that can befall us in this stupid hobby. I hope you can get it sorted, Keith. Nobody wants to see that happen to a fellow LPLer.

Shiny toy soldiers have their place. I am sure the will be awesome, regardless.

The Leaderboard after Round 3:

Shouldn't the new team bonus points kick in for Round 3?
In rounds 3 through 9, any new (i.e. unpublished, cf. 3 above) team will receive 10 points the first time it participates.
Not wanting to appear greedy for more points, but more points are always nice, and I think most everybody qualifies for them. :)
-
Hey, leaderboard pic. Achievement unlocked :D
Yes, new points bonus for round 3 I think.

Yes, true, all but one qualify for new team points. And I noted them down into that spreadsheet, but it will not show them. I'm going to check it and will do a new leaderboard once ready ...
-
Plynkes seems to have the forces of Darkness aiding him.....don't believe me? Check out how many votes are in his favour! :D

Done. Correct points shown.
-
Wow, only a 3-vote differential between Keith and Plynkes. Still quite a race!

Hope that everything is correct ...
-
Thank you for choosing my Carlists as leader board pic Michael!
-
It's well-deserved, Jan. That is one of my favourite LPL scenes in a long time.
I really like it when everything comes together and actually makes a scene where it looks like something is happening. I mean, sometimes all we can manage is five figures standing in a line and that's fine, but it is great when something more comes out of it.

The Leaderboard after Round 5:

Any mistakes, just let me know ...
-
Just so you know: I am on team Plynkes, and we are KILLING you! ;)

The views and opinions expressed in the above post are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official stance of the Plynkes Corporation.

:D
-
lol lol
-
LOL
I am in the best spot imaginable taking into consideration that I dont have compulsory round thematic miniatures :)
But WOW.. If I had extra round points I would be just after Goliard and before Dr, Black Crane and Pulper.. That would be silly o_o
Bravo Me :P
-
And the last Leaderboard after round 6 before the knock-out stages:
-
For the observant amongst you; Pulper finished 6th in the league stage, but was unable to field a team for the knock-out. He has graciously agreed that Hu Rhu will take his place in the final eight.
-
Ive got 13 place I wanted to wrestle from Khartoum2 :)
Congratulations to finalist.
Pity that compulsory round eliminated Pulper, but it was harsh one to be honest - to specific IMHO.
Said that good luck Hu Ru.
-
10th, I'll take that! I think I'm rather (read very!) fortunate to be in 10th and only a few points off the knockout zone though - but a good job I didn't sneak up there as there are plenty better than me who deserved it and I didn't have a team photographed anyway lol
That middle of the field race though, very close!
-
I was happy with 9th and not having to field another team. :D but I was asked to make up the numbers for the knock out round. A pity too since Pulpers painting deserved to be in the final 8. :'(
One thing I noticed about the leader board is that the bonus rounds were the difference for being in the finals and not. That is something that we might have to review next year.
-
You nailed me this year Awu, well done
Next year hope to have more time to prepare properly but as always it been a great blast.
-
One thing I noticed about the leader board is that the bonus rounds were the difference for being in the finals and not. That is something that we might have to review next year.
The bonus rounds have always been one of the essentials of the LPL and are clearly defined within the rules. Yes, they are important if you would like to compete in the upper half. If for example Blashemia Blackwood would have got the 60 bonus points, he/she would now have reached the top three!

And that's my point. Bonus points greatly alter the final results and some of the better painters lose out.
As for the 'thats the way we always do things' line, things change. Take for example the elimination rounds this year. Never been done before. Also a few years ago the competition changed the way photographs were allowed to be composed.
I am not saying that we should throw out bonus rounds entirely but the overall method of awarding points should reward better painters not the average painters, like me. 8)

When creating the LPL it has never been the Prof's ambition that the better painters should be rewarded more than the average ones. The opposite is true: everybody should have the chance to participate and everybody should have the chance to reach the top places. There are plenty of painting competitions around the internet where only first class painters would have a chance. So painting along the bonus theme rounds can indeed help the average painter to climb up the Leaderboard. There are other factors as well, of course.

Quarter finals are over, here are the results:
So the Semi finals will see
Keith against Lt Hazel / Plynkes against Dr Mathias
Tomorrow their fantastic creations will be revealed ... :o
-
Well Keith it is you and me again...I am quite frightened I have to admit.
-
Man, I wish they'd kept the full league format for one more year! Just my sodding luck. lol
-
Wow, feeling the heat in this company! See you on the field Lt :)
-

Well I'm rooting for you, your entire output this season was exemplary and in my humble opinion you deserve the crown this year. I don't even have an idea for Round 9, so no hard feelings here if I get knocked out ;)
-
Well, win or lose we're all of us locked in for one more because there's a third-place play-off. No getting out of it now. ;)
(That is presuming Paul has my entry. My email kept bouncing yesterday.)
-
It's a mouth-watering prospect. Not just four brilliant painters, but four ace visual storytellers too. Good luck chaps :)
-
On that note did anyone get a response from Paul? I entered quite late yesterday but didn’t hear back. Fingers crossed it arrived.
-
He's been incommunicado quite a bit for the last 24 hours or so. It was something work-related, so couldn't really be helped. He PMed me but said he couldn't access the email from where he was, so didn't know if my entry had arrived. He said he would extend the deadline if it turned out it hadn't, which was jolly nice of him. That PM was sent some time during the small hours of this morning. Haven't heard anything since.
-
I don't even have an idea for Round 9
I have made a start on mine. Nine new figures, eight pieces of scenery (the usual Plynkes strategy of filling the frame with stuff so people don't look too closely at the painting on any individual figure - believe me, it works! ;)).
Have I bitten off more than I can chew? I think so! Gonna be some late nights and early mornings this week. :)
-
Really beautiful work by all the participants. The scenery alone has been outstanding.
