Title: Apache land - more apache conversions 21/02/2022

Hello all

The start of a new project.
Apaches to fight against the mexicans around 1830´s.
After search a bit for their look and weapons i decided to convert some for this period since the existing miniatures are mainly 1860´s forward.

I start with a foundry one not converted and a foundry swashbuclers marroon converted with some green stuff.
As always, comments and ideas are welcome.

This is really really nice  :-* Great work!

I always wanted to sculpt Apache from that period, even before I started doing the plain indians  ;) Now I want to again  :D

Apaches sculped by you ? They would be most welcome. ;)
I always liked apaches above all other tribes. I will also try to convert some females and children as well. Lets see how this project goes. :)

I´ve started this some time ago and today i finished covering the walls with plasto.
After all, my mexicans need a place to defend so that my apaches have a place to attack... :D

False advertising!  False advertising!  I came here looking for 'land', where the heck is the land?   lol

If you'd been kicked out of your homeland by the Comanche, the truly ferocious natives of North America, then been accosted by Spanish and then Mexicans and treated beneath contempt and have a price on the head of every man, woman, and child of your people, you might be a bit peeved yourself.  And then along come those giant white creatures to add insult to injury.  No fun being Apache.  And then it's either hot as hell, cold as ice, or the thunder gods are dancing to a raucous tune.  And then your kid drowns in a flash flood in the arroyo.

Oh, yeah, nice work on the figures.   :D

Its a much more manageable size than mine, I got carried away with it lol

That looks really good, not come across Blotz before but that’s an excellent basis for a Presidio.  I may need to invest  :)

Nick yours its fully scratchbuilt and thats the beauty on it.
I had to find out a base for it or else i would spend a lot of time building it.
This way all i had to do was transform the bits i wanted and cover the walls.
Now to paint it after buying a brown spray as basecoat.
I will also add a corrall on the side with the door. It gives more detail on it. :)

I may get some arab buildings and do the same as the presidio for a small vilage.

First one is a foundry plains indian on a Warlord comanche horse.
Second one is a Northstar african mounted leader again with a Warlord comanche horse.
I hope you like them as much as i liked converting both. :)

I am quite taken with the earlier Apache period,

I've had a few of Rui's painted figures in the past, the piccys don't do justice to the standard of his painting, it's top notch...
the Apache Chief looks a cracking figure, well done matey.

Thats what happens when we have a crap camera and no feeling for pictures. lol

That one was half painted many years ago and i repainted it. It looks better now. :D
I may convert 1 or 2 more Renegade acw figures to do more Alabama Red Rovers in that uniform.

3 texans and a mexican.
There are 2 foundry texans that i did some small conversions. The guy with the hat i add a hand with musket and the uniformed one i cutted one pistol and glued a knife.
The 3rd texan is a Artizan figure

I think those Darkest Africa tribesmen turned Apaches are a triumph. I would never have thought of converting them, they are so convincing. :)

Well, when i started i had my doubts but they turned out ok.
I just need 4or 5 more dismounted, 2or 3 civilians plus 2or 3 mounted and i have the band finished.
I will take some photos of the diferent groups tomorrow.

The deserters i used are from Renegade miniatures. They blend Well with yours. I wish i could get my hands on a few more in skirmish positions. :)

These conversions are great and prove that the market requires more options when it comes to Apache miniatures. These also be great against Mexicans such as with the Apache Mexican wars, see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache%E2%80%93Mexico_Wars

When it comes to Mexicans many miniatures seem to be available but perhaps a lack in who they can fight against including Federals for Mexican Revolution.

At any rate keep 'em coming enjoying seeing your collection develop...
