I've suddenly found myself nearly five weeks ahead of schedule on a grown up commission ( the rarest of things a series of changes that made my job easier :D)
So I thought I'd use some of this spare time to do a piece of cereal packet shenanigans .
Trouble is I've absolutely no real need for anything ::). (already have a double tutorial on WW1 80% done )
Which is where you fine fellows come in...
Is there anything you'd like to see in a shortcut/zero budget Tales from the Tin Shed thread?
I've included a few pictures of previous builds for those of you who aren't familiar with the sort of nonsense.

A golem or a VSF automaton should a golem be too organic or 'alive'.

Chinese Warlord era armoured train :-)

Keith has the right idea! lol

Ditto the armoured train. :D

Ink,
Fun idea, I'm not convinced it's something that'll translate into a usable tutorial. That said I knock up a small idea for a golem( in cereal packet card ;D ) and popped a thread on the Pulp board.
What is the fascination with armoured trains?
I've pretty much covered the methods for building an engine in previous tutorials.
However I had planned on expanding the ski train. So it's not that much of a stretch to build an armoured carriage or two.
I did throw the whole idea out to one and all. So in fairness if no comes up with a more popular idea,or if more likely couldn't give a fig.( Closing date 24/06 seems sporting) Then your on.
The catch being I'd need some pictures of the real thing. Otherwise It's a tad trickier than I'd care for.

How about some buildings? You haven't done any of those in a while? (well, there was the Roman one)
I don't mean a simple box though. Maybe some bit of industrial jiggery-pokery... not sure what though.
Alternatively, you could do a tradesman's wagon... ;)

A modular medieval castle.
Seperate walls and towers so you can change your castle setup from game to game.
I'll leave the exact period up to you :)

+1 for building(s)
May I humbly suggest something 'Generic' (useful for several wars) such as-
'Crumbly' (falling apart) adobe style trading post/tavern.
Could be used for:-WW1 east Africa; Darkest Africa; Wild West; Mexican Revolution;
Modern drug cartels; Zombies; Back of beyond etc. etc.
With detachable signage (held on with tiny blobs of Blue Tack) any of the above would be
possible.

How about something slightly different to what we're used to seeing on gaming tables- something inspired by futuristic pre fab houses and buildings of the 50s to 70s?
Scenerywise some look like they could be used as modular space (or underwater) habs like Maneval's Bulle Six Coques. Suuronen's Futuro may even double up as space craft- so mobile condensed living in outer space.

Bulle Six Coques (https://www.inexhibit.com/case-studies/the-bubble-house-by-jean-benjamin-maneval-1963/#8220Maison_Bulle8221_8211_the_history_of_the_Bubble_House_by_Jean-Benjamin_Maneval_8211_1963), includes some plans when you scroll down a bit

You could probably do a small balloon craft or semi-fantasy airship.
I keep working on one that is using one of the larger, plastic easter eggs as the basis for the balloon. The ship is where I keep having trouble in getting things to look right because I keep dropping the ones I've worked on which messes the entire thing up and forces a lot more work...

Munindk,
Made over a dozen castles ;) here's a few note/sketches from one of my note books . I'm not sure there's a need for a castle thread as there's nothing to castles. They're just pretty rectangles and cylinder. However if your after making one your more than welcome to pick my rather addled brains.
Sotf.
Pretty much the same goes for airships and balloons. What I will do is pop some pictures on the VSF board of one of mine, which may help as it sounds as if its you tasking order is amiss not your building.
Ink ,
those building are a doddle. Ones nothing more than five 'cubes', the other is two spoked wheels and an edging strip. Depending on the size you could use a saucepan or tin of household paint as a former.
Has,
You could pick up a cheap mdf blank adobe building and pretty up for around a tenner.
Fram,
For a split second I thought your post started with Ford.

If anyone could make a perfect sphere out of cereal packet, I daresay you could. lol

A downsized variation on the Notre Dame Cathedral, sir. A remarkable challenge and a useful model that immediately identifies the location - and fits into a large block of history, too. And if 28 mm is too big for such a beast, try 15 mm (or even 1:120 scale which will work with 15 mm). Just think of replicating all those flying buttresses. Such a thing would impress us all to the nth degree raised to the nth power.

Knowing Mark, we'll all have a giggle about this, only for him to have it done by the end of the day... ::) :D

Absolutely no chance.
(The Mrs used some very short words :o )
But.....
An English Gothic church( she definitely never said anything about a church)
That I could do.It would have all the same challenges.
-
Very short words: a, it, oh, is, as, to, up, etc. lol
Tell her she's responsible for making a grown man cry - and not you, neither! lol

Do you realise how many cornflakes he’d have to eat to make that! :o
Seriously though, we really need to find something challenging for him! Something with compound curves and hundreds of detail...... ???

not in the loop for this, but what beautiful models and illustrations...

Bloggard,
Being on LAF is in the loop
;)
So feel free to join the rambling musings of those who aren't allowed out on their own. ;D

Okay Gents time is as they "Uuup"
So you came up with.
Armoured Train,
Castle,
Some sort of buildings, be it industrial or decaying.
Oss n cart,
Retro chic 50's-60's buildings,
Gothic Church (Yes church, because negative waves are way more scary when you have to sleep next their source.)
Airship/ Balloon.
Golem,(sort of done its really nothing more than tubes and solid rolls of card and a few cuts with a sharp knife.)
So here's the game plan.
I'm going to make them all.
With the odd tweak here and there, to fit my actual needs. Otherwise I'm stuck with builds I have no use for,and no one's ever willing to pay money for if it from recycled card. New card not an issue . But recycled and they think its a con or it shouldn't cost as much as a' real model'.
Mark.
