Title: Hoping to illustrate all known Dwarf Miniatures
Post by: Stunties on May 17, 2009, 10:42:20 PM
Hi to Everyone,
Greetings: The Dwarves of the Lead Mountains bid you welcome!

At.......  www.stunties.com (ftp://www.stunties.com)

We are seriously trying to illustrate examples of all Dwarves made
for gaming/roleplaying, from the earliest, up to the present day.

To try and give as much information as we can, to help collectors
and players, in their search for Dwarves.

Some Gnomes and Halflings are here too.

There are trade pages, for anyone interested.

A page where unidentified Dwarves can be scrutinized (but gently
please, There has already been one identified as "Kneehigh Smith of
25 Midget Lane, Lilliput ----not very kind at all!)

All Dwarves displayed reside at Stunties, and if anyone should need
an alternate view, or other info,  we could help.

We would be very grateful for any help in locating other Dwarves,
hiding out there in obscurity, and will buy or trade in order to
secure them.

For example; is there anyone with unknown Dwarves in their
collection ? As these strays could be of great interest to us, and
could serve to throw some light on forgotten brands of long ago.
Please tell us about them.

Could you help with letting us know who the sculptor was ? when they
were made ? if there are more ? etc, or if you have pics or an advert for
some not covered....... please help.

Finally enjoy.......... Boki Gromdal

A side devoted to dwarfs is a good idea, but what are stunties? ;)
Title: Re: Hoping to illustrate all known Dwarf Miniatures

A good question ?    The term 'stunties' was and is used by some gamers/collectors as a derogatory name for Dwarves...... mostly by officiado's of green skinned, foul smelling, genetically challenged uglies....  or  '*^&$**!^&*'s  as they are known to our lads.  :o)
We (the Dwarves at Stunties) however feel that it's basically true, we are smaller, there is no getting away from the fact, so we have embraced the name,
and have adopted it as an term for all the vertically challenged races. So now, when the greenies sneer 'stunties'  we laugh in their faces, pick up our axes and
show them, small as we are, that we are a seriously big problem for them.......    Boki

Well, there are far too many lanky gits around like Elves, Numenoreans etc, so a site purely for Dwarf minis is a great idea  :D

Good explanation. Btw, count me in if you're talking about 'we'. I'm a dwarf at heart and always will be.

I tried to locate the special edition Thorgrim Branadim (spelling???) from the first Warhammer Boexed edition. However over 50% of the pictures are only white blanks for me... Is it under Citadel miniatures?

Nice site (even if they are all midgets).
When I was a child (in what my son refers to as the time of horses and carts) I had a host of these guys http://www.stunties.com/wiki/index.php/Minifigs_-_Mythical_Earth

We Dwarves of the Lead mountains, still only have horses and carts (small ones)  and the odd steam tank of course, but perhaps in the dim memory of your illustrious Dwarven past,  would you perhaps remember with the M10 - 2 mounted hobbits set. What it consisted of in total ?   have you still got any, or pics perhaps ?    I have 2 hobbits riders who rode in, sharing the same horse, but have yet to confirm their identity ?
So over to you,  please...........  oh, and a bit less of the M word in future, the lads are scribbling away in a big book if that means anything to you ??
               lol  Boki

Post by: Mad Carew Snr on May 18, 2009, 08:06:15 PM
Sorry about the M word! Being over 6 foot I tend to look down alot!

I don't think I had the mounted hobbits - I certainly had the ones on foot. The ME range by Minifigs was awesome in the mid 70s - it looks really dated now.
Title: Re: Hoping to illustrate all known Dwarf Miniatures
Post by: Stunties on May 18, 2009, 08:39:14 PM

Dated, yes, yet all the older models have a place in the history of gaming figures, (and we Dwarves go back aways too ......)
but joking aside, anything you can help with, would be appreciated, and if you run across any dwarves that are looking for a new home, a heads up would be very welcome....    ;) Boki  (and give my love to the auld sod - Leitrim in my case )
Title: Re: Hoping to illustrate all known Dwarf Miniatures
Post by: Mad Carew Snr on May 18, 2009, 08:44:18 PM
Well they're all back in the old country - Bristol in my case - but next time I'm there I'll see if I can't find them. I had a few of Minifigs next fantasy range with Dwarves too - can't remember what the range was called - you've probably got it on your site.

Co. Leitrim - well if its anything like Kildare is right now, its soft with a capital S.
To non-Irish readers that means freaking wet.

What am I doing wrong. When I go to your site and try to look at the squat pages it come up saying You need to log in to edit pages.
Can you go to the site just to look.
In years gone by (20 years +) my first ever WFB army was Dwarfs, bough 5000pts worth in one mail order go.
Still have some in my current Dwarf army.
I also have a large squat army that has not seen the light of day for many a year. Since the nasty evil empire took them out of the game.
Think you site is a great idea.
How can I see it?

Svennn
I take you mean the squats.
I have a bundle
2 squads of Trikes + two Hvy weapon trikes
6 exo suits
exo suit on a trike
Trike with side car for the living ansestor.
Hearthguard on trikes
Hearth guard on foot
Living ansestor on foot
and a fair number of normal squats both the older single piece castings and the ones with the plastic arms
No idea how much it is worth.
But for sentimental value I have hung on to them for all these years. Keep meaning to repaint the old painted ones and paint the unpainted ones. One day!

Sorry, yes I did mean Squats.

There are a couple I remember that I would love to paint again but they are way out of my price range now. Do some completed auction searches on evilbay and then start thinking of all the new shiny toys you could buy.

I sold mine a good while ago and was well chuffed - they go for more now.

I can get on the site, but most of the pages I've looked at appear to be blank. I'm assuming that's because there aren't many pics about of the older dwarves? Until someone supplies them, they an list the catalogue numbers, but no images.

Or it could be busted. I dunno.  ???

I took it from the earlier comments that they are awaiting pictures. If not I do have every Citadel Dwarf upto the time I left GW ('89/'90). There are a few on there that came from me as I have had contact with them before but it sort of fell by the wayside.

Hi Everyone,

We seem to have got off to a bad start, with a lot of people unable to connect to the site.
As a final resort just google 'Stunties',  We usually head the list ?

Also use this link to the site......www.stunties.com (http://www.stunties.com)

Stunties is an ongoing project,  There are a lot more pics to be uploaded,
yet there are many spaces, where a figure is not yet available to us.

If you are looking for a particular figure, then we may have a pic or other info
we can send to you, if it is not available on the site. Please send a private email.

These are some of the completed Manufacturers, or as far as we can go at this time.
(unless you know of more figures out there ?? )

Acropolis, Admins, Apocalypse, Armada, Asgard, Assassin, Black Baron, Black Hat,
Black Scorpion, Black Tower, Blue Ice, Broadsword, Bronze Age, Caesar, Celtos,
Chariot, Chronicle, Colin Dixon, Conquest, Crusader, Dark Horse, Dark Sphere,
Dark Sword, Dixon, Dragon, Dragonblood, Eastern Front Studios, Ebob, Enigma (Spain)
Essex, Excaliber, Faithful, Fantization, Fenryll, FG, Foundry, Game Figures, Garrison,
Goodman, Grenadier, Ground Zero, Hackmaster, Heartbreaker, Heritage, Hinchliffe,
Holistic, Illyad, Imrie, Inquisition, Lance & Laser, Magnificent Egos, Mars Ultor,
Masquerade, MaxMini, Metal Magic, Minos, Mithril, Modelers, Mongoose, Monument,
Nordic, Olleys, Outcast, Pegasus, Prince August, Ptolus, Rafm, Scibor, Shadowforge,
SHQ, Simtac, Splintered Light, Superior, The Dark Eye, Thunderbolt, Tin Soldier,
Trent, TSR,  Twisted Tales, Victoria, Warp World, Warrior, WotC,

The rest of the pages, are in construction,  many with some pics and details of others.

Anyone, who know of any other manufacturers, we have overlooked, please speak up ?
all info. adverts, catalogue page scans, articles, and pics, would be very well received

Thanks very much for any offer of pics to post on the site, but we are only posting
pics of 'Stunties' Dwarves.

We have thought about this a great deal, having had so many kind
offers of help. Yet the concensus is; if we post only our
own figures, then you can be sure that this is a current pic of an
existing figure. Other specific pics can be taken, for research
by collectors, if needed, and would give them the confidence to know
that examples still exist in rarer cases.
It means, We should be able to answer most questions asked, of any
figure posted, that further examination of that figure
could give. --- Hope you understand, we also thank anyone who has
offered similar help.

Thanks for your interest and support.

Hey Boki this little fellow (Dwarf with an inferiority complex) was on the lead pile from about 1980 until last year, when he left for caverns new. Can't remember who made him; Citadel? Ral Partha? Any ideas...?

I'm only doing Fantasy (with a capital F) at 6mm scale now (due to cost and storage constraints) - all my other insanity is being done at 20mm, not very fashionable but I like it!
