Title: Scratching the Fallout itch (Furniture and some vague building plans)
Post by: Legionnaire on July 23, 2018, 04:37:08 PM
I've been away from the hobby a long while, but recently got my mojo back again. Looking forward to receiving my Fallout Wasteland Warfare stuff, and got enough inspiration today to try to make some thematic scenery, my first go.

The ads are simply sourced from the internet, made into the right size and cut out, then stuck to the board with Blu Tack. Simple. The minis are from Fantasy Flight Games Fallout the board game. Definitely like the Ghoul sculpt the best  lol.

The Nuka Cola ad came out a little smaller than the others, but I didn't like the grey border on it anyways.

Where did the billboards themselves come from - they look familiar, but I am having a brain fart?

The billboards are from TT Combat  :).

THAT'S where I have seen them.  Thank you!

Today I received a 'trial' kit from Battlesystems, a furniture kit that costed me £4. For the small sum I am quite happy how they turned out (thick pre-printed and pre-coloured card that you just fold at the seams, no instructions necessary). All items ready to be put onto the table in literally minutes and you can disassemble them afterwards for easy storage. They are shown with the Ghoul (my favourite mini) from the Fallout Board Game for scale.

While I am waiting for my pre-ordered Fallout Wasteland Warfare stuff, I played around with an idea to make an old house into the 'base' for my survivors (ordered starter box, settlement deck and some other bits as I probably will be playing it mostly solo). TT Combat's Two storey Suburban House became my choice, it's on its way here as we speak :). https://ttcombat.com/products/two-story-suburban-house-a

I have also ordered some 0.5mm thick greyboard cardstock, aiming to attempt my first ever try to make some partitions in the house to serve as rooms (there's no internal detailing in the kit).

I have also ordered some more Battlesystems terrain, the Casino/ Lounge Kit, https://shop.battlesystems.co.uk/diner--casino-47-p.asp, as I am planning on making one of my old Sarissa CityBlock's MDF buildings into a cafe'/ diner.

Looks like a good start - sometimes quick and simple is best.  If you like interiors, you might want to take a look at 4ground's stuff, as they have interiors.

With limited available spare time between work, parental duties, training etc, quick and simple is a concept that really works in my favour. Plus the painting mojo waxes and wanes. I had my Mantic TWD collection sitting on the shelf for over 5 months before I could be bothered to put any paint on them. Now I have 4 survivors and about 25 Walkers left.

But I admit, I am pretty psyched about the Fallout Wasteland Warfare stuff  lol

I digress, 4Ground I have looked at as well. My (somewhat limited) experience is that the kits don't go as nicely together as other manufacturers MDF kits (I've had to sandpaper and adjust the bits I have bought to fit properly), they are nice and pre-painted but more pricey than others. I've also scoured the interweb for some dolls houses 1/48 scale furniture.

I had good success with the one kit I got from them, but while more expensive, prepainted and with an interior explains that.

Also, look into railroading stuff at O and S scale.  Works well enough with 28mm figs.
