Just finished a batch of Villagers and 3 Moke taxis for The Prisoner.
Featured are No. 2, No. 1 (with kitty), No. 6, No. 69 (a Pigeon Guard Games Big T with Austin Powers head swap, wondering how he got so fat, not very groovy baby), various populace, and some minions.
Finally a Salute 2017 Vote for No. 6 standard bearer.
Except for the standard and two Big T conversions, the rest are Crooked Dice.
The Mini Mokes are James Bond diecasts with decals by Simon Pain - who also made the standard.
Hopefully the attachment is ok.
Village buildings are up next!

I’ll work on some group shots. That didn’t turn out so well.

Please do!! One of my all time favourite T.V. shows and would love to see what you have done there in more detail. :)

It's not so bad when you embiggen the image by clicking on it, but please don't be dissuaded from adding more pics. Neat project and toys btw!
:)

Nice work Grant!
Can't wait to see more.

Very nice project. I've never watched The Prisoner, but through this forum, I've come to at least understand the premise of the show.
I must certainly applaud your work on the Mokes; being a huge UFO fan, I've been wanting to create two S.H.A.D.O. Jeeps for ages, and those were actually based on the Moke (with the addition of a second rear axle and properly futuristic bodywork).
There is no vehicle that comes close to that shape, so I've been contemplating getting me two of those Mokes myself, to mimic Gerry Anderson's studio crew and convert the Mokes into the 'Jeeps'.
But I've found them difficult to come by, and expensive to boot. So kudo's to you for doing up not 1 but 3 no less! 8)

Very interesting.
Are you going to build Portmeirion in 28mm?
-
Portmeirion is a great place. Cant wait to see it in miniature!
-
Thanks all!
Working on setting up a mini-mini photo shoot for the figs in the meantime - yes, I am doing Portmeiron :D
Pigeon Guard Games models - http://pigeonguardgames.com
The Gloriette, the pond needs water effects still.
Two Infomats
Phone booth for th Moke Taxi service
And the Control Centre
Be seeing you!
By the way, the Mokes are James Bond diecasts marked Live or Let Die maybe? https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/James-Bond-24-Mini-Moke-Live-Let-Die-Universal-Hobbies-Excellent-Boxed/232857816859?epid=1648095040&hash=item3637684f1b%3Ag%3AeWsAAOSwaqtbSLNn&_nkw=james+bond+mini+moke&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=p2380057.m4084.l1313.TR1.TRC0.A0.H0.Xjames+bond+mini.TRS0 They are cheap, under $15 if I recall. So totally doable for three!

Very nice again; the paintjobs appear spot on and that Pidgeonguard range seems like the perfect place to start. 8)
The village was also made up of half timbered houses with immaculate gardens, right? And wasn't there some sort of huge pingpong ball of doom? (like I said; I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to this show)
Thanks for the info on the Mokes; I looked at them several years ago, and then they were at least GBP30,- a piece, with mint in box ones going for nearly GBP200,-!
Now they're still around the same by the looks of it, but there are exceptions, as you mentioned. Must be another range having been released since then?
Another option, which I hadn't picked up on back then, is getting some beat up Dinky Toy army versions. They're pretty cheap; I've seen a few yesterday for as little as GBP5,- And since I'll be 'operating' on them pretty heavily, it would be a shame to cut up a pristine version anyway.
So if anything, your thread has now put me on the trail of an affordable option after all :D
Now for Foster's car... ::)

@Daethor: You mean "Rover"?

Beautiful job on the scenery.

I haven't the faintest to be honest... lol
All I went on here is a faint recollection of seeing some guy lying on the ground, being squashed by a white sphere of 3m or so in diameter. It most likely was a miniature I saw here on LAF too...

I always thought they were one of the most imaginative aspects of The Prisoner. When someone tried to escape, a white balloon would be generated (somewhere underwater out in the bay, you never saw exactly where or how) and it would float up to the surface and then race across the water to land. Then through a mixture of bouncing and skidding along sideways, it would hunt down the errant villager at speed. Once it got near them, there would be a weird guttural howl, everyone else would freeze in place (even the fountains would stop) as the wobbly white balloon would hone in on its victim. When it caught them it would squish them helplessly to the floor and you'd see their face pushing against the surface of the thing, before they were rendered unconscious. As soon as its job was done, the balloon would rapidly go skidding off again (who knows where) and all the people would start moving again. None of this was ever explained, which I thought was brilliant!

See; I knew I connected the dots correctly!
I just Wikipedia'd The Prisoner and realized there are a great many references to it in popculture.
For instance, I distinctly remember either an Iron Maiden song and/or a nineties Hardcore House song (what can I say; my musical tastes have always been... diverse ::) ); it could be either or both, that most likely had a sample from the series: 'I'm not a number, I'm a free man!'
And thanks; now I'm going to have to find a way to watch the series... lol
-
Theres a DVD boxed set, or no doubt you'll find it online somewhere.

I get it; it's another quote! lol
+++EDIT+++ Aaand, I nabbed the 50th anniversary DVD Box off Ebay for a very small amount... ;) And my apologies to Grant for taking this thread Prisoner... :D
-
Very cool.
I watched a lot of the TV show back when I was in High School.
Need to check out DVDs of the show.
-
I watched it when Channel Four showed it in the 'eighties.
Very strange, not that I think that it affected me in the least.
References turn up in many places, Babylon 5 for instance.

What a wonderful project.
Lovely brushwork and use of colour.

Portmeirion was more post-modern stucco 'Baroque Italian'; just what you need for the Aber Iâ ('Ice Estuary') in Gwynedd. lol

Very optimistically thought of as Mediterranean... :o

I visited Portmeirion with the family as a kid and was struck by how weird it was. I found an enormous dead jellyfish washed up on the beach. That was years before I first saw 'The Prisoner' and looking back it did look like a deflated sphere! :o

I think I’m going to just use some ping pong balls - but that’s an awesome mini!

Fab project. Look forward to more pics!

You can stay in Portmeirion village. Its apparently even wierder when all the tourists leave. Something I must do!

Just received the first casting of a new resin Moke today that has been designed by Steve McGuire.
It will hopefully be in the Crooked Dice website in a couple of months, maybe sooner.

I’m going to just go and hit my hand with a hammer until the pain is numbed lol
-
In all seriousness, when’s the Moke due? And have you contacted Si for a decals package?

Neat. By Colours or Warfare?

You can indeed stay in Portmeirion, as we did in March. Our room was behind "The Dome" and overlooked Number 6's courtyard, where the gift shop is housed. The whole Village in fact consists of guest accommodation.
As it was out of season it was quiet, so no crowds getting in the way of my photos. And yes, it IS even weirder at night. The bust of Patrick McGoohan was in a little alcove, lit up in the dark.
We didn't go there particularly because of the TV series, though I remembered watching it as a 10 year old, but it has provoked my interest since and Ive been watching bits on You Tube.
It would be quite a challenge turning this into a logical game, but if the miniatures are nice, that's an end in itself.

The GURPS source book might be useful.

Thanks - I’ve actually got a copy!

Of course you can use the same set for (28mm) Doctor Who.
-
Added a great find today, a 1/35 scale Tamiya Triceratops that will go with my Danger 5 force (not shown yet, but painted). The Nazi Dino-Soldiers episode was one of my favourites. Just need two MG34s and some string and this guy is ready to fight!
-
Nice.
-
DVD set received, and I've watched the first episode (Arrival). Very weird, and sometimes disturbing but also intriguing.
And I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking up ways to get out of that dreadful place (my god; the big band o_o ). I must have seen a dozen ways already, so it'll be interesting to see if number 6 thinks up at least some of the same ones... :D
And dino riding nazi's? Man, you are bad news for my spare time! lol It sounds like Kung Fury meets Iron Sky II, so it'll be a must watch now... ;D
-
You HAVE to watch Danger 5 - but only season 1. Season 2 is pretty bad.
You’ll be drawn to all kinds of weird and wonderful modelling ideas - and above all, KILL HITLER! :`

I agree, series one is weirdly fascinating. The miniature work is suitably period (imagine Matt Irving on a budget - but no hair dryers).

The A.V.Club did a retrospective review with discussion on each episode, it's a pretty good companion to seeing the series for the first time if they're still up.

I think the first batch of episodes are quite good, but somewhere it drifts. S
Still proceeding with my Village, Danger 5, Archer, Scooby Doo, and McKenzie Brothers mashup. Take off, you hosers!

Get those MG34's on that beast! ;D
