A side project while I think about what’s next for The Village (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=110880.0), I banged off a Dodge Tanake and the first of ten Senegalese Tirailleurs. Perry Miniatures.
When the rest are painted I’ll do a nice photo shoot ...

Nice work on the truck and infantry.

Thanks Helen; more pics later!

Really nice work.
Always great to see something out of the norm.
Thanks for posting... look forward to more.

Leads me to wonder of that cab in its unarmoured version would fit some of the other bodies/chassis to make a 30 cwt truck? Was that a John Hart original?

I believe it’s a John Hart, so maybe would also be useful for LRDG Fords.

Thanks!
I did these in two days, so I have a bit of fez burnout lol
But I’ll be returning to this project for sure. I enjoyed painting them!

Does anyone have a picture of the Dodge Tanake in it's component parts?
-
Very nice, grant, but they are giving me bad ideas :D

It consists of:
Frame with rear wheels and armoured rear area
Cab with doors
Front armour windshield
Rear door/armour
Front wheels
Gun post
Cannon
3x crew + driver
Two LMG
-
Thanks Grant.
So the cab and front wheels on a WLG 15 cwt Bedford would make a nice civvy Dodge, methinks. Just have to persuade Perrys to let me have those parts and WLG to let me have the other parts? Mission impossible! lol

Yeah - once you start something like this o_o

Hi all, Michael has the flat bed for the Dodge (which then carries a French 75) which he hasn’t yet put into production. If enough of you ask him, maybe he will!
John.

As in Michael of the Perry family?
Lou, was that vehicle in mainland/metropolitan service as well?
-
1500 of those vehicles were in service in metropolitan territories ( mostly after Dunkirk ) even if the most common US model was the GMC ACK 353 who was ordered as a substitute to the various Dragons Portés vehicles ...
but back to the Tanake, an "armoured" carrier was built too , latter used by commonwealth troops as ambulance

Cracking work all round. 👍

Very nice Grant. That is one bashed up vehicle :)
I enjoyed painting my one a lot - although I didn’t distress it at all.
It’s a great model (so thank you Molecatcher John :))

I went a bit heavy on the stippling chip effect, I blame the sponge I was using lol

Wait, what? How can these be acquired?!? Or who do I contact where to request they go into production?!?
I've just started work on a Free French force. Trimmed up a squad of Askari's Marines and some Legionnaires this week. Awaiting a shipment from Perry. Was waiting to get the Perry 75mm in hand before deciding on a course of kitbashing Minairon's 1.5 ton Chevy to make the back bed big enough to portée the 75mm, I understand the basic kit is too small as is.
-
Brilliant!
Well done on that truck! :-*

Considering none of the Tanake's survived the fighting at Bir Hakeim, I suspect they were all pretty beat up along the way.
Nice work!

Well that's good to know.
Not terribly useful information, but still good to know.... ~,^
And curious Cat's still want to know where those lovely 1.5 ton flat bed trucks can be had!
-
seem's that the Perry's have the master of the dodge truck ...

Thanks for the tip. Just sent them a query to see if they're likely to produce it before I have to kitbash some Minairons trucks. Also asked if they might be making the quad Hotchkiss HMG AA gun for the FFL Marines before I start kitbashing that too.
If other folks send them queries, maybe we can start a movement!

i was tempted to make the quad HMG with a minairon truck and a shapeway quad HMG , but the price ...
the type 93 Japanese HMG were french hotchkiss produced under licence ...
and the shapeway ones are stunning models ... i ordered some for my Leclerc column
( but shapeway postage is a killer )

Lovely piece!
I have a pack of the Japanese Type 93 guns from TAG, was leaning towards kitbashing the AA mount from Rubicon's upcoming Quadvierling (Q3-4 release likely). Will go poke at Shapeways. US shipping isn't so bad.
**edit**
Quad mount Type 93 is now in my cart at Shapeways, awaiting next fiscal month's gaming budget!
