Title: Daddy's Lil Girl (Harley Quinn), 1/24th, Andrea Miniatures
Post by: Battle Brush Sigur on July 30, 2018, 01:51:30 PM
Vienna Figure Convention is coming up next weekend and I thought I should put  another new model on display for that big event.

I've had this figure lying around since around christmas 2017. Got the 1/24th and 1/32nd sized versions, both of which I actually won at a quiz. :D Crazy, isn't it. This is "Daddy's Lil Girl" by Andrea Miniatures (who are well known for making amazing large-scale figurines). The figure quite clearly is based off of the Suicide Squad film version of Harley Quinn.

It's cast in white metal, with a few fiddly parts (ammo holster on the right side and hair strands come to mind). Mold lines are to be removed; on the main torso sometimes in a bit problematic places. The legs are cast in resin, and are generally also well cast, but on the right leg there was some stuff to remove along the leg, which is really unfortunate given the very fine mesh stocking texture on the legs). The figure comes with a simple white metal base with a cracked pavement look to it.

Assembly wasn't too bad, so I quickly started painting:

I started by blocking out base colours (and in some places giving them some basic shading and highlighting) just so I know which colour goes where, what the thing will look llike overall, and to get a general feel for the figure. Hope you like her so far!

Heyhey, happy Friday.

Here's another WIP shot of the Baroness of Baseball Bats, clown lady Harley Quinn, the Deranged Damsel, Five Feet Seven of Fury:

Still unsure about how to tackle the legs exactly. For now she's wrapped up and in a box and ready for travelling to Miniatures Convention Vienna at which you'll find her and me (and others, I suppose :P ) the upcoming Saturday and Sunday. Before that I'll attend an outdoor wedding (it's 34°C here, people). Wish me luck. :D

Heyhey, peeps and peepettes!

I'm back from several things I did over the weekend, one of which was Miniatures Convention Vienna.

Nice overview of the show, the 2 painted Landsknecht busts in one of your later pictures are superb.
Kudos to the artist who did those.

@robh: Cheers, I'll see that I pass the compliments on at the next show. :D Busts are great to paint. I'm really not that great at it because I think I still lack some basics, but it's great fun.

Heyhey. Believe it or not, but I painted the Harley Quinn to such an extent that I'll call her "done enough".

Impressive indeed!  Excellent job on the stockings.

@mellis1644: Thank you!

@syrinx0: Thanks. :) Those were the main reason I had put this one on the side for a long time. The texture is actually cast onto the figure (all metal, but the legs are resin, presumably so the very fine texture of the stockings is possible). Makes painting  the legs a bit challenging though as washes or even inks/filters/whatever are impossible or very, very tricky to use.

I would be very scared to attempt painting those nylons.   However you did it, it was an excellent job!

@syrinxß: Thanks very much. They gave me a bit of a headache (way before the freehands already!).
