Title: METRO 2033 Miniature Question
Post by: Dentatus on August 20, 2018, 11:06:33 PM
Tapping the LAF Hivemind and wondering if anyone has found suitable 28mm proxies for METRO 2033 Watchmen, Demons, or Librarians.

Cheap would be good as a pack of Watchmen could otherwise add up quick.

Thanks

Librarian in my opinion is pretty easy to convert as he is basically big, bald, mutated gorilla from the look of him. :)
And there are many of various gorillas miniatures on market.
Also I think that GW LOTR plastic trolls can be easily converted to Librarians with a bit of green stuff and cutting and filing of some excessive bits.

Metro 2033 Collectors edition included a couple of figures one of them being a Demon and you can still find these figures on Ebay or assorted Russian internet flea markets for a much more reasonable price.  I have this figure in my collection and can say that he fits rather well with 28mm minis.

I had no success trying to find convincingly looking watchmen minis and it would be very interesting to see if someone can suggest something fitting in this regard. :)

Also 3d models from the game are available on various sites on the net and perhaps it would be easier to find someone with a bit of 3d printing expertise and try to print them to scale adding greenstuffed details to the minis.

Thanks. I was looking at GW's LOTR Wargs for possible Watchmen. And one of those winged Crypt Horrors painted up gray might serve as a Demon.

The Troll is a great idea but I'm not adept with greenstuff, so that much of a conversion is beyond me. I'll keep looking.

If you removed the wings from a Mansions of Madness Byakhee the result wouldn't be a million miles from a Watchman although finding them in numbers probably wouldn't be that cheap either.  Just a thought, GDonk
(That's from the 2nd Edition, Suppressed Memories expansion)

Almost forgot.
Not about monsters as such but in case if you planning to build some metro terrain I think that this will be of use to you:

Achtung Cthulhu's range may have some suitable monsters for the setting.

Oh, and off topic from the monsters, but Empress Miniatures do helmets with ballistic faceplates which fit in with the aesthetic of the setting too. Modern Russian gas masks as well (though to be honest, slap a gas mask on any Cold War/ Modern Russian figure and they'd suit Metro). :)

Thanks Nimrod.

And Wyrmalla:  Heh... I've got far too many heavily armed, gas-masked Russians. So many I could be accused of collusion or annex a border state.

Picked up a set of Rackham Dirz sight hounds, plastics, off eBay to proxy Watchmen type mutants. May have to repaint them but the price was right.
