Title: Russian Uniforms
Post by: Mr.J on May 24, 2009, 06:14:54 PM
Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone out there knows when the Russian army started wearing quilted/padded jackets?
I've been looking online but I haven't turned anything at all up so I thought I would put it out there as if anyone knows it'll be one of you guys.
The period I'm most interested in at the moment is the end of WWI but I have a feeling that they weren't introduced until much much later.
Any help/info would be great, thanks.

The padded winter uniforms were designed in response to the Winter War against the Finns in 1939-40.   They were first ordered to be issued to troops in August 1941, but because of disruptions in production due to the German invasion, they weren't that common until 42-43 and later.

Nope, they would definitely wear greatcoats in that period.
