I have a friend that has lost his Mojo for Wargames and I want to help him get it back. He loves Star Wars but doesn't doesn't like the length of time it takes to play Legion.
any suggestions for a SW game with less than 15 figures? I was thinking IHMN or Pulp Alley but I am not sure.

Fistful of Lead: Galactic Heroes should be available shortly. If it is anywhere near as fun as FFoL, it will be perfect for Star Wars

Pulp Alley is my go-to for star wars gaming, it's perfect for it as-is with no modification. You can download the preview rules which is actually the full ruleset without the character cration to give it a look.

This! Perfect game for all the random fun and weirdness in Star Wars

I've successfully used Frostgrave for Star Wars. A lot of the spells can be reimagined as Force powers.
I documented the rule changes we made here https://nozzawargaming.blogspot.com/2018/08/using-frostgrave-for-star-wars.html (https://nozzawargaming.blogspot.com/2018/08/using-frostgrave-for-star-wars.html).

Star Breach is great and free which is always a bonus, there's a more than a few warbands that are great for use as various Star Wars forces from different ages, https://www.starbreach.com/.
-
There is always 7tar Wars:

Though there are cards involved but only as part of the turn countdown (it is a game in three acts).

Other opinions are available.

A second for FFoL - Galactic Heroes.
We play a lot of FFoL and usually have six figures a side and even at our slow, leisurely pace we get a game done in a few hours :)
-
Another vote from me for 7TV the Star Wars programme guide is a great addition to the game and I use my Imperial Assault figures for it

I’m working on a Star Wars Project, with FFOL: Galactic Heroes in mind
-
I'm glad this came up, as I'm looking for a good set of rules for just the same purpose: small games with no more than 10 on a side, and often less than half that. (Though in my case things will be in 54mm!) Is there a tentative release date for Galactic Heroes? That might be perfect.
-
Should be released later this month but I'll let the good Baron imprt some more info on that (it's his after all :) ).
-
Galactic Heroes would be out end of the month. uses are in final edit. Adding pics/illustrations, etc.
Here's some sample games:

It's really a toolbox. You can use whatever you want. Build it your way. I'll have a few suggestions for different Sci-Fi locales.
For instance, should you give Stormtroopers the Armor trait? Doesn't seem to be very effective in the movies. But you can field them however you like.
Gives can be a small as 1 v 1, or up to 8 players. I regularly run 6-8 player games that are over in 2 1/2 hours.

I use FUBAR... its free, the rules are one page and the system is already set up for Star Wars (Galactic Civil War and Clone Wars). Have a look:

FFoL Galactic Heroes looks like a hit too...
-
Isn't FUBAR really for larger skirmishes and battles?
Great news on Galactic Heroes! J, will you be making a card deck for it like you did for FFoL?

The Combat Patrol Star Wars supplement is pretty good as well.

I can't say I've found that but I'm no expert. I've used it in both small scale single squad skirmishes and larger scale battles... both in 54mm like your planning and in 28mm. The cards available bring special skills into play for characters and vehicles... which I like... and it isn't heavy with pre-planning and equipment selection. This works for me and who I game with since we are always crunched for time.... but like I said that's just my opinion.
That said, I am definitely going to have to try out some of the other options suggested in this thread.

There was a kickstarter earlier in the year and there was a deck in a similar vein to the Old West one.
-
Have you considered Imperial Assault? It has a skirmish game within it. I have played it a few times. It is pretty good.
-
I wonder how much faster than Legion your friend wants to play?
I've played a few games now, and even the first two, basically being familiarizing games, were both done in well under an hour. It's a pretty quick game I'd say; especially movement of units is very simple, where just the unit leader is measured and the rest is placed within a certain range.
But obviously, YMMV ;)
As an aside; before the current blooming of Star Wars miniature games by FFG, I had originally planned to port the Infinity rules to a Star Wars setting. Which would be just about the opposite of what your friend is after! lol

Oh, those look very nice. I have a weakness for custom card sets... :D
-
Baron, too late to get in on the KS stuff? Sent a PM in hopes! :)
-
Galactic Heroes sounds very interesting. I'll be watching Wiley Games for its release!
-
I really like AE: Bounty. Only a few miniatures, between 4 - 20. Easy to pick up rules and it can easily cater for Star Wars as far as I recall.

I also have used Pulp Alley for small SF games. Works great!
