Title: Heroquest
Post by: Dr. Zombie on September 16, 2018, 04:01:35 PM
I decided to enter into the fantasy painting party By painting a hero from Heroquest. And well... one thing led to another and I have sort of started to paint the entire game.. And in stead of filling up the painting party thread I made this topic to show the progress.

I am painting them old school in bold colours like on the box.

The four brave heroes. I painted the Barbarian ages ago. But the three other heroes are fresh of the paintdesk.

Bostin.  8)

I painted a full set of HQ when I was about 16, a condition of borrowing it from my cousin.

Needless to say, they were shite in comparison to these.

Terrific paintjobs. The dwarf is my Favourite. Played him often in my youth. It's a amazing game, even today.

Every time I see the “best thing about Heroquest” video I wish I still had Heroquest. Just old school goodness.

Loving them. That painting party is wanting me to get out all my old stuff.
Can't wait to see how you do the rest. :)

Thanks guys.

It is amazing how easy these old boys paint up. And how much a rather simple paintjob like this really adds to these somewhat poor miniatures.

YES!!!

Anytime Anywhere. You just call.

It might be fun to bring the boys along.

Cheers

4 Chaos warriors.

The Gargoyle and the Evil Sorceror. Whilst I have been trying to stay true to the original paintjobs. I went a bit off script for the sorceror.

Like your brushwork and the Figures very much.

Interesting choice of colours for the Chaos Warriors. One for each Chaos god?  :)

Thanks.

Yes the thought was a color for each god.

Maybe give the Khorne Champion one or two collected skulls.

But anyway, i really like your way of painting. Cool stuff.

The dogma for this project is no conversions. And a limited paint palette.

That looks fantastic. I've got the heroes finished, but I think you've pushed me to finish the whole game... tho I'll have a bit more as i have 2 of the expansions... I'll have to see where I can fit in this project to the 50 others!!

Thank you for that Frede!

Your uncompromising painting style works really well with these old plastics.

I can’t wait to see more.

Today I forced Ms. Zombie and Zombie Junior to play a game.

They ran into trouble imediately. The Wizard was attacked by a Goblin that gave him two wounds. To teach him to not run around alone and ahead of everyone else who can actually fight.

They eventually found the evil gargoyle Verag and things got serious.

The Dwarf bravely rushed in to confront the Chaos warriors. But the two of them was to many and they killed him. But the Barbarian killed Verag the Gargoyle and the Elf cast a courage spell on him self and drank a might potion. And then he went to town on the remaining monsters.

That's really nice  - I really should resurrect and finish my 3d Heroquest project from 3-4 years ago.  I got all the figures painted and about half the scenery but then got sidetracked...

Hi there,

I registered after coming across this Heroquest thread.  I found a selection of my childhood Heroquest/AHQ minis earlier this year and I finally painted them after decades.

However i wanted to ask about etiquette before posting the pictures; should I start a new thread or should I add them to this thread?

Great painting by the way, I love the look of the Undead and Orcs & Goblins in particular, nice work indeed.

Welcome on board.

You can start your own thread. But you are welcome to post them here.

In fact let’s se everyone’s Heroquest minis. I showed you mine now let me see yours.  :D

If the original poster has no issues then you can post here, I rather like the idea of a Heroquest thread! Generally, however it is protocol to start your own thread as you will have control over it.

Welcome to the LAF!

Thanks for the warm welcome, it's good to be aboard!

Here are the selection of Heroquest and AHQ minis I rescued/salvaged from the AHQ box from my childhood years and finally got to paint after decades!

I do wish I had some of the orcs & goblins left over to paint but the intact minis were few and far between.
