I picked up some Runewars Latari a while back, I'm rather fond of the FFG take on wood elves but never liked the board-gamey rules. Some of my fellow Infinity players wanted something light and quick for later in the gamenights and Kings of War: Vanguard is looking to fit that bill, great excuse to put some paint on those Latari models. The 2H swordsmen were converted into spearmen with some GW Glade Guard arms and swapped a couple weapons on the heroes. Got it all primed and ready for paint

Got some colors blocked in tonight, hopefully get the spearmen blocked out tomorrow and ready for oil washes. Was hoping to get a little further along, but they're getting there

Nearly there, oil wash wiped away, shields applied. Ready for basing and final highlights

Nicely done 8)

oil wash has worked well. will have to look into that again.

Thanks. definitely give oil washes a go, they're awesome. Just get some dark brown and black oil paint and some odorless mineral spirits. Go for the artist grade paint, don't skimp out on the student grade stuff. Mix nice thin slurry of oil paint and ODM and slather it all over the model (usually best to give it a satin or gloss varnish first), then let the ODM evaporate off for a bit and you can go back with a cloth or cotton bud and wipe it all away, it'll stay in the crevices and leave the raised areas the original color. It's like doing a basecoat then regular wash then carefully reapplying that basecoat paint, but it's a fraction of the time and effort.
Did a fewhighlights on the skin tonight, now I'm just waiting for the basing paste to dry so I can finish them off
