Title: Skirmishes in The Expanse setting - rules?
Post by: Ninefingers on October 07, 2018, 09:39:34 PM
I've gotten some figures together to do a bit of skirmishing in The Expanse setting - OPA/Settlers vs private corperate security, that sort of thing.
I'm a bit stumped on rules though. I've got Rogue Stars but that seems to be a bit too much like maths homework, so I'm looking for something which will give good, fast-paced game for multiple players and is easily teachable.
Any suggestions?

I've just tried googling 'FFOL:Galactic Heroes' and don't seem to get any hits for any rulesets. Do you have a link?

Baron Von J on LAF is the author. Fair number of game reports on LAF but here’s a taster

I haven’t played them myself yet but I was a backer of the Kickstarter. They are from the Fistful of Lead (Old West) family, which I have had countless hours of fun with.  I’ve got the Horse and Musket variant and have also played test games of the Gothic Horror version. I have no reason to doubt that the sci fi version will provide the same amount of fun.

According to Jaye, it won't be openly available until all the Kickstarter backers have gotten their copies.  I've played the original FFOL often with my western figures, and it is a lot of fun.  I am looking forward to the SF version.

Inquisimunda/old school Necromunda might work.  The rules are readily suitable for de-40Kifying for other settings and will handle 6-12 a side without any problems.  The only significant change I'd suggest to the rules is to change the IGOUGO turn order to individual figure activation drawn from a bag.

The rules can all be found in the Yaktribe vault: https://yaktribe.games/community/vault/ (https://yaktribe.games/community/vault/)

I use 5150 Star Marine since it includes zero-G combat and ship boarding action rules.
