The first additions to a new army for Battlegroup Fall of the Reich...

Ernst Tiburzy – “As an ideal example for all brave soldiers, from the thirteen year old Jungvolk volunteers to the old men, was the Königsberger Volkssturm-Bataillonsführer und SA-Hauptsturmführer Ernst Tiburzy. The 34 years old, already seriously wounded East Prussian Tiburzy received the Knight’s Cross on February 10, 1945. Tiburzy was the Bataillonsführer of Volkssturm-Bataillon 25/82 in Festung Königsberg. When the Russians made an armoured assault, Tiburzy knocked out a T-34 with a Panzerfaust. When one of his platoon commanders cowardly tried to escape, Tiburzy shot the man, grabbed some new Panzerfäuste and knocked out a further four T-34’s. He then personally led his Batallion in a counter-attack on the Russian positions and held his part of the front sector.
In the Wehrmachtsbericht of February 28, 1945, it said that; “the awarding of the Knight’s Cross to SA-Hauptsturmführer Tiburzy, commander of a Königsberg Volkssturm Batallion, for the destruction of five Russian tanks”.

I knew there was a 88mm 'Famo' SPG (Sdkfz 9), but the Vomag was news to me and certainly in a league of its own. Really nice work. :)

That’s some quite amazing stuff you got there. You know you’re one of the person I blamed for my interest in 20mm WWII… ;D

Back to speed painting Soviet infantry using a triad system to speed things up. While not entirely happy with the colours on this batch, I will complete this section in these colours. I think as I have so many Russians to do, the triad method, if I can find colours that work for me will save a lot of time. All that said, I have noticed that the colours do look a lot different when used on the tabletop and seen from a distance... so that's something I have to consider.
We spend so long painting with regards oddly close up photography, we can be in danger of forgetting to aim the painting at what they will look like actually in their proper use!
-
Agree - and the balance is achieved by spending more time on command miniatures and other "centrepieces".
-
Finished speed painting the squad of AB Russians...

Not to burst your bubble, but that building is a foamcard house with photographs attatched. Not painted. Still great pieces of work, I have quite a few of those.

Amazing painting in these 20 mm!

First of all, really nice miniatures and models, as allways.
I got to ask you, what or where does the round bases comes from, are they cut MDF? I have been looking for good round bases for my recently started 20mm WWII soldiers.

I have used Renedra 20mm diameter plastic bases on my 15mm figures if that is of any help.

Durham Light Infantry Platoon
(https://images.beastsofwar.com/2019/11/15429735-20191104_221342-636.jpg)
Inspired by my recent trip to Normandy, I decided to do a new platoon for my Normandy collection to go with all the new vehicles my British are getting. Given all the graves we saw, this platoon will be based on the 8th DLI who saw plenty of action during the war.
Set up for Battlgroup Overlord I have the following...
Forward HQ
Comms Relay
Infantry Platoon with PIAT team
Vickers MG Team
Forward Artillery Observer
Sniper
Infantry Foot Patrol
Carrier Section
I've included the carrier section, as throughout their battalion history, the Carrier Platoon is mentioned over and over again, and seems to have been a highly used asset.

Very nicely done, these are great.

Great brushwork mate

Looks like the wait for the reworked moulds was worth it... very easy to build, looks great and is an excellent wargames model.
Only minor issue is the two sinkholes in the headlight, but they are easily filled and it's a non-issue frankly. Size wise, its roughly the same size as the Dragon Horch Car, a fraction longer, so sits well with other 1/72 kits.
All in all, a good release from PSC.
Want another set to do a flak buggy now! Will add some pics later with AB crew to show size.

Still working on uniform base colours for my platoon of DLI using AB 20mm figures… 70 men, and not one repeated sculpt.
Just ten left to base coat and then I can start to highlight them all.

Really enjoying this. I've always admired AB mins from afar and would love to paint some one day. Your batch painting technique gets great results and I may have to copy it.

They are a joy to paint, very enjoyable unlike many figures. They almost paint themselves!

Working on some highlights on the DLI...

I was told Front Rank were so good they painted themselves. I put them away for 10 years and however much I checked on them they still haven't. ::) Should I ask for my money back?
-
Great collection - because of those pictures I bought some of those AB figures. They are indeed quite nice to paint. Need some adjustingt to the scale, after mostly painting 28mm. Also surprisingly difficult to find buildings in the scale. Can't be that hard as 1/72 is a well known/used scale for modeling. Most likely I use the wrong search terms.

Lots of buildings.
Hovels and Lancer do 20mm resin ranges of buildings, as do Sentry Models and a few others.
Airfix do a few in 1/76 and model railways can be a source too.
I use resin, model railway and card buildings;

Yup, brilliant. There's not much that makes me want to repaint my stuff, but seeing the great use of shade and light on these 20mm dudes, I feel some 8th Army fellas of mine may be headed for a return to the desk.

These look really good, what paint do you use for the British uniforms?

Bit more done... ambulance has seen better days but I wanted a real worn out look as it's to be one on the long retreat...
Esci M3 with resin upgrade, in Protective K based on one seen in Belgrade that looked to have been repainted in Soviet paint over the usual Lendlease Olive Drab.
Not entirely happy at the moment with it, but more to do. Needs to look worn out and knackered after a long retreat and use.
-
Maybe fade out the roof and hood more because of the sun and rain?
-
Needs more damage (wing mirror missing, cracked window, dents etc.)
and baggage. Units that are retreating carry absolutely everything with them. e.g. bags & boxes on every conceivable place, such as on the wings
& roof. If the roof items cover the red cross logo, then a white sheet tied
over the top with a (hastily) painted red cross on it. Maybe a (slightly) wounded figure draped over one wheel arch.
-
First an urban objective marker...

Beautiful stuff. I always had a soft spot for the AirFix T34, which, like yours,
came with two turrets (76mm & 85mm). Two tank possibilities for two shillings
& six pence (twelve & a half pence now). Bargain for one on school-boy pocket money.
Your numbers look very nice & neat. transfers? If yes what type & from whom may I ask?

The yellow is used to produce the sun faded patches on the hatches and upper surfaces.

Now all the infantry are done... for the time being...
Onto some support for my SS kameraden. They are going to be my real last ditch types, so will be in need of a bunch of tat!
First up is some heavy Anti Tank capability. I've already done a Pak40, so something else was needed, and an 88 seemed so passe...
(https://scontent.fdub3-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/fr/cp0/e15/q65/93188369_1529186990579010_2299265352699215872_o.jpg?_nc_cat=105&_nc_sid=110474&_nc_ohc=a68lOWVglY4AX_-DIou&_nc_ht=scontent.fdub3-1.fna&_nc_tp=14&oh=17b388b4a833ebe8cf80845a6d110006&oe=5EC04373)
So something beute it is... a Soviet 85mm AA gun. These were not that uncommon a sight in the West during late 44 and early 45, and many appeared in defences and emplacements. Having one in a more offensive role is a little more exotic, but not unheard of. Some may be aware of my penchant for the war in Holland and the Low Countries during this period and one of these guns was used, and still is, at Overloon. So it seemed to fit the bill of late war make-do perfectly.
Next is a little run about. No self respecting Waffen SS officer can be expected to walk to war, so all my German forces get a little car to drive around in. Again, I wanted something a little different... it was going to be a Tatra but in the end this Fiat looked too cute not to use...
(https://scontent.fdub3-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/fr/cp0/e15/q65/93088135_1529187033912339_2864775295607504896_o.jpg?_nc_cat=105&_nc_sid=110474&_nc_ohc=YLXDBXAuKDkAX9iKGL0&_nc_ht=scontent.fdub3-1.fna&_nc_tp=14&oh=3ce0263e78db27c513d01a3748478836&oe=5EBD1E93)
Then we start moving on to some more heavy support... this time a Panzer IV Ausf. H with zimmerit. This will be a proper banged up old campaigner, and will at some point be joined by two new Ausf. J fresh from the factory. But this one will be a bit of a mobile scrapheap. So far been working on the hull...

I've tried alot of ways to do zimmerit, both miliput and green stuff and then resin and paper zimmerit sheets. But I have to say it's hard to beat the look of the brass etch. It takes a bit of work but I hope the result will be worth it.
I have just plopped the front hull panel in place for the photo as I cant fix it in place till the upper and lower hulls are joined once the tracks are done, but it gives a nice idea of what the hull will look like...

The 85mm is a Zveda kit... its 1/72 and bigger than it looks in that pic to be honest, but I know what you mean. Looks small in that picture.
The Fiat is an OOP Alby model and the PanzernIV is by Revell with some added details..
Just the stowage to add to this little fella...

Your figures and models are beautifully painted and an inspiration. Are you using them for Rapid Fire rules? I have been away from 20mm for some time and not familiar with the Battlegroup books from RF.
Keep sharing as this is great reading during the lockdown.

Cracking job :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

I’ve got tonnes of Renedra bases. I like the look of the thicker base height. I use pennies for 20mm so that would be more consistent in base height.
The pin wash really makes the details pop for the shadows.
Technical questions:
What do you use for pin washes and the applicator used? (They are very precise.)
Do you seal the paint first with a matte varnish?

I use either thin acrylic paint, enamel wash, or on these a mix of GW contrast paint and thinner. Each has different positives and negatives, so it's a choice you make. All application is by brush.
I usually seal before weathering with either satin or matt varnish.

Thank you! I have tried the Tamiya panel line washes, nuln oil, very fine tip markers, etc but your recommendation of GW Contrast Paints is one I’ve never tried (yet!).
I agree wholeheartedly about each having positives and negatives.

Silly idea of trying to make the brass etch for the Revell late Panther Ausf A fit on the Dragon early Panther Ausf A.
It doesnt.
Much chopping of brass and swearing involved, but the hull is done...

Splod,
I just like making life hard.
Had it lying around and thought I'd be clever.
Well, I used some swear words, and made some new ones... but its built.
Wont be that stupid again, but it looks the part. Some small stowage items next, but not much.

Where are the tracks from and what are they made of?
The tracks are just the usual vinyl ones that Dragon use.

Brilliant job V,and I must admit to doing something similar with a Hawker Typhoon kit, much swearing and converting resulted :)

Nice start.

I'm back... been working on a big batch of... Yes... German stuff!
First a Guderian Duck - Jagdpanzer IV /70 'Lang'... with a stencil sprayed crap attempt at some sort of Hinterhalt/disc/Ambush whateveritis camo scheme, that didnt quite work...but it's a learning curve, and it's good enough to game.

Cracking job :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
What decision is needed with a gun? surely they have 88 mm Ammo?
They do have 88 ammo... but then I need to decide if they will get an 88 or the Beute M39 85mm Soviet AA gun I have done in German colours...
-
Just curious.. the Stug is "yellow for Stalingrad"...am I missing something?
I'd always assumed that it was always grey till 1943, though I have read something about different schemes for Southern Russia in 1942...
-
Possibly stuff orginally earmarked for the Afrika Korps in sand camo that was diverted to the eastern front?
-
A beute gun, the Soviet M1939 52-k 85mm AA gun was captured and used in large numbers by the Germans.
In the last months of the war, many used in AA positions on the Westwall came into use as AT guns. Many guns were also relined so that they could use German 88mm ammunition.
This gun is a relined 8.5cm M39r now using 8.8cm flak ammunition and crewed by a Waffen SS unit...

Its an Alby resin cast. Sadly they seem long OOP now, a huge shame as they were exceptional models.
-
Apparently you can still order directly, according to the following link... I could be mistaken, but think the posts are from this year?:
https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/missinglynx/alby-citro-n-u23-t322213.html
Well, I think that it's easier to find the Alby Kits today than 20 years ago....
You can find his production on Ebay (direct sales) just by writing in the "search area" something like "1/72 Alby"....
All the items sold by "Minimili" or by "Kitenstock" (which are the two "alias" for Alain Laffargue...) are sold directly by Alby.
Of course, all his items are not on Ebay, but you can also "contact the saler" to ask him if the item you want is available, now, soon or unfortunatly never again...
as you can too send him an E-mail....
the main problem is that he really doesn't like paypal ( too much indelicate buyers I suppose...) and so, you have to make a bank transfer....
-
Really amazing work as usual! :-* 8) :-*
Is that a PSC Horch model (first model on the right)? Mine are somewhere in a metal drawer, but did you notice a small “hole” on the floor of the model? Or did I make an error assembling the kit?
Also, was the “elongated truck carrying the 88” (I forget the exact domination, sorry) produced in “large” quantities?
Anyhow, genuinely nice models and figures as usual. I like looking at the stuff you put out on LAF.
Cheers! 8)

The Steyr is the PSC one... and the ambulance is a conversion of one. Dont remember a hole in the floor... where abouts as I have another waiting to be painted so will check.
The Selbstfahrlafette auf Fahrgestell VOMAG 7 OR 660 mit 8,8cm Flak had around 24 ordered but I think only 20 built, though some got the ballistic director fitted rather than the gun or a command fit-out. Later in the war they were refitted with the gunshields to add better crew protection.

Really nice figures and amazing painting as usual! :-* 8) :-*
Is that a new product that PSC will bring out?
Also, it’s a little off topic but do you have Britannia figures in your 20mm collection and if so, do you like them, and do they mix well with other manufacturers?
Cheers!

Yes... PSC are due to release these as a 'plastic' version of the ones Adler sell in metal.
Good few moons ago all my collection was pretty much all Britannia. For a while I used to paint some of the adverts for Dave Howitt to go in Wargames Illustrated. However once you start adding other makes, few sit well with Britannia, so after Dave died and the business was sold, I ended up selling off a few bits to fund some home repairs and, as the quality of the Britannia castings had dropped at the time I replaced them with AB.
That led to a general sell off of everything and a complete restart of 20mm. In fact I'd say in the last 15 years I've probably sold off almost everything two or three times over as painting has improved!
So... although I do love Britannia, for me they only work among themselves.

The gallery above and the preceding pictures are very lovely! :D
I always like to come back to this thread and have a look at them when I don't feel up to painting stuff.

I use the AK Britidh uniform set.
They will appear light under two 160w daylight lamps. But I paint for the tabletop, so under normal light conditions they look alot different.

I thought that maybe the case just checking to make sure I was painting mine right?

I thought that maybe the case just checking to make sure I was painting mine right?
Thanks
Could probably, and should probably, be a bit darker. I just find they don't 'pop' so much on the tabletop then and with WW2, its all so bloody drab you need something to stand out! lol

Great job on all of them, but I particularly like the despatch rider. A great sculpt and the paint job brings it alive.

Excellent as always V, helping to inspire me to crack on with my 15mm KSLI (my grandfathers regiment) I think my battle dress is a bit darker (using the coat D’Arms triptych) but still acceptable. Are you managing to get any games in recently or are you just tackling your painting queue? Are you doing the DLI due to the actions they were in through Normandy or is it due to familial links like mine? (Sorry you may have said on this thread but I’ve been distracted by the glorious pictures). Sadly I didn’t get to meet him (and I don’t think my efforts do him justice) but it’s nice to have that link.

Both my grandfathers served in the Royal West Kents, one in the BEF in 1940 and invalided out after Dunkirk. The other in late 44 and into 45. My grandfather in the BEF had a twin who was in the Buffs and he was captured out at Alem Hamza at the massacre of the Buffs and went on to escape his POW camp when Italy changed sides.
So no family connection just one from seeing so many DLI men in Normandy graveyards and their exceptional le
.vel of service across all fronts. One of the premier British infantry units and one not given enough attention in my opinion.

Cracking job :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

Thanks for the reply V, an interesting and worthwhile unit, let’s hope they distinguish themselves on the tabletop as well as they did in real life! If the old war gaming superstition of well painted new units doing badly you must dread games ;).

Took a break from painting and built a Grille Ausf. H for my Italian front project I hope to work on next year.
Bit of a hybrid this as the Attack kit was utterly hideous to work with, a carve your own! So got donated the running gear from the PSC kit and parts from my UM Grille that is already done to replace the gun and other bits. Then a load.of stowage to hide faults!
Its a heap, but its done...

V that’s rather charming and you’ve minimised the few niggles I sometimes have with MDF design (stark tabs and corners on walls), I mainly use mdf buildings I just know that at some point I’ll have to attack them artistically and pretty them up so they don’t look like I just bought them, put them together and plonked them onto the table.

Having not been on this board until recently, I have just discovered this thread and read it through from the start. I am immensely impressed with your painting on these 20mm figures. I shall continue to follow with interest, not least since I have just started a 10mm WW2 late war German army and will use some of your work as inspiration.

The German MG08 saw plenty of service during WW2, from 1939 to the wars end. A variety of units can be seen using the weapon, and in Normandy many of the static divisions and bunker complexes utilised the MG08 to increase firepower along with many other exotic weapons.
This model has been done with a generic Heer crew by AB Figures and the gun from CP Models. Its based up with a summer theme for use in Normandy, as at least one was captured around Carentan in the first few days of the fighting and many were issued to divisions like the 716. Infanterie Division and to the Ost Truppen battalions serving in the West.

Is the bofors gun scratch built?
-
The shading/layering of colours is quite impressive and I really like the transitions. Will you add scratches and some weathering to them or paint the details and use them like that? Either case, looking forward to seeing whatever you go with!
-
Lovely :-* :-* :-*
Is the bofors gun scratch built?
I believe it's the Zvezda 37mm (which was, as I understand it - more or less a Soviet copy of the Bofors?) in 1/72nd slotted into the new Zvezda Gaz trucks.
-
Yes... Zvezda 37mm AA gun.
Which if course should not be mounted on a Gaz-AAA as it wasn't rated for that load.
Generally the Gaz had the 25mm AA gun, which looks similar. The 37mm was mounted on the Zis-6 that looks similar... just heftier!
However... and there is always a however with WW2.
In 1941 the Red Army did trial mounting several 37mm on GAZ trucks. The attempts on the single axle version show exactly what a bad idea it was...
Also its known that local unit factory workshops also tried it and a pic exists of one on a double axle Gaz-AAA.
Whether or not they would have lasted long with the weight and force of recoil, probably mattered little at the time. So its an almost unlikely combo... but maybe not. Plus I have it magnetised so can pop it on the ground mount and swop it for a quad Maxim AA gun.
Anyway... stuck decals on them all. Got to love the Soviet lack of markings!

What did you use for the glass and also the rubble?

Glass was just old blister pack cut up.
Rubble was beach sand, some grit and various bits fron the bits box!

Just trying a little 4 x 4 to see how it looks now...

Speaking of rubble,
may I ask what material did you use to make it?

Last piece for my Winter Waffen-SS, the rather esoteric 7.5 cm Infanteriegeschütz 37.
Not often seen but 1300 odd built on old Pak36 or Soviet Pak158(r) gun carriages and barrels intended for the IG42.

Matching up my Sherman command tank of 13th/18th Hussars, to go with my other tanks, when with 27th Armoured Brigade in Normandy.
In this photo they had moved to 8th Armoured Brigade on disbandment of the 27th in late July after Goodwood. The photo was taken near the River Waal at Nijmegen, 15 October 1944, but you can still make out the sea horse badge of 27th AB and the new badge of 8th AB being placed in the centre of the transmission cover. Uniquely this vehicle carries two Brigade emblems. Mine will be as in Normandy. The vehicle has an added Browning MG and what seems to be a cable dispenser on the rear turret stowage bin.

Tonight... last three of the current British NWE batch - a Wasp, a Badger and a Crusader AA tank!

Not sure I knew of the Badger before - I assume its a Ram flamethrower variant?
-
Those 3 are cracking!
Not sure I knew of the Badger before - I assume its a Ram flamethrower variant?
Yes the Badger took the Wasp MKII flame system and installed it in the Ram MKII in place.of the bow MG and then added an MG turret from the Ram MKI to the old turret opening. Used briefly by the Canadians in April 45 after testing in Feb 45.
-
Thanks - mounting the flame thrower in the Ram would make it a lot more protected than in a carrier. But on the other hand its a lot bigger and more obviously a tank, so may get shot at by heavier stuff if its around, that might well ignore a carrier.
-
Completed the first figure for my Balkans/OZAK project - a member of the Croat Legion. An NCO from the 359th Division that supported Prinz Eugen in anti-partisan operations.
Like many will be for this project he is a headswop using an AB DAK MG spotter with a tank crew head to give me a generic gent with binoculars. Gone for the Mouse Grey woolen uniform as a change, and all the specific Croatian models will get this. They will then mix in with the zeltbahn clothed Germans to form the 359th for games.

Cracking game last night – Delaying Action with 350 points aside using Battlegroup Tobruk. First WW2 game in a while...
Italians took heavy losses but managed to breach the British defence line and manage to break the British BR… though not within 9 turns. We play on however, and in turn 10 it all went wrong for the British.
Highlight was the 2 Pounder, down to one crewman, despatching two tankettes with one Open Fire order – VC for him. For the Italians their single sniper did sterling work, while their infantry failed to assault! Runner-up prize goes to the Vickers MMG team who cut down the section of Italian Engineers as they reached the barbed wire…
(https://images.beastsofwar.com/2022/08/15595717-20220821_214853.jpg)
The Italians however managed in the final turn to drop a mortar shell on the Wire Team, causing a 5 chit to be pulled, then a dead 2″ mortar after that resulted in another 5 being pulled! Up to that point, the British were in good form, hardly any casualties (except the FHQ!), the trenches doing the job and the Italians on the edge of their BR…
(https://images.beastsofwar.com/2022/08/98818500-20220821_222915.jpg)
Clearly with the communication to Battalion HQ gone, my plucky British had to withdraw… so all over on turn 10, but they had held past turn 9. So an Italian victory, but at high cost, and the British withdrawing successfully to their second line.
Italians by my chum to face my own British troops.

Finally finished the final batch of infantry from AB Figures using their new range wearing the M43 Uniform to go with their Greatcoat wearing range to give me a nice rag-tag looking bunch for late WW2 battles over the Autumn/Winter of 1944 and into 1945 to the wars end.

Vehicles next…

Excellent work 👍
I started my WWII early War forces using 28mm figures but then had my first CoC games using 20mm figures and immediately saw the advantages of 20mm.
So, I have just purchased the AB Early War British and German packs 🫣

Those Americans look like a hard fighting bunch of desperados. Great job.

Photoshoot this weekend for Battlegroup Westwall, so had to quickly bash out some scenery… not much, but enough for the pics!

Quick job on this 3d printed house by Vulcania3D/Plana Mayor.
This is the building that served as Dakota Command Post in Krinkelt during the Ardennes fighting in late 1944, but I've painted it up in a more generic style. It comes with a second, more ruined 2nd floor to allow it to be in various states of destruction!

Brilliant work, mate! 👍

A little 500 point clash using Battlegroup Westwall. Very close battle, but the US managed to push the Germans past their Battle Rating and force the to withdraw, but it was very close.
The US had the better of the tank fighting, losing one M10, while the StuH42 and the Panther went down to 76mm rounds from the Shermans. The Germans though had the better of the infantry fighting where the MG42 teams excelled in ambushing enemy units among the village buildings, pinning them down and causing casualties.
It wasn't enough though, and German losses, coupled with the US holding on too several objectives, was enough to force the German withdrawal. Nice to be back playing games again, especially WW2!

First up, a new ETO44 German platoon leader, using one of the figures from the new DAK Officers pack from AB Figures.
Gives the guy a nice veteran look using the DAK model and painting him up for Europe…

AB Figures are excellent and whilst extremely well detailed, paint up very easily.

Fantastic looking figures! Especially in 20mm! I've seen a lot of 28mm not done as well as yours!

Like most German Generals of WW2, I never seem to have enough soldiers… so I painted some more.
One last rifle section in tunics to join the ‘standard Summer 44’ Germans.
Thay seems to complete the Summer 44 German infantry, given a large base to which the troops in smocks and zeltbahns can be added.
Of course… nothing is ever really finished.

If you allow me, I will give some tips on painting Soviet partisans.
- in my opinion, prtizan figures will look more interesting in items of clothing made from clearly “civilian” fabrics (striped, checkered, etc.)

- in addition, due to natural supply problems, the partisans often used captured uniforms (German, Hungarian, Romanian, Slovak) with their insignia removed.

You mean like the civilian clothed ones I've painted above...
Be odd to paint the ones in airborne jumpsuits (they dropped to support Partisan operations) in civilian colours. Same applies to those in scout Amoeba pattern suits, kinda got to be in camouflage really.
-
They’re great V, I’m looking forward to seeing them in action ruining the fatherlands plans in the new book.

Naturally, I meant partisans from the civilian population and the remnants of defeated military units that were surrounded, and not Red Army scouts and NKVD saboteurs operating behind enemy lines together with partisans.
By the way, the Amoeba camouflage suit had several color options for different seasons and areas, so for different colors of the figures you can use different colors of this fabric when painting.

That gun is an excellent Heinz ‘57 model. Is it wrong that I instantly recognised your table and river set up method (being used as advertising by Cigar Box Battle Mats) on sight? lol
Keep up the good work sir!

Lovely paintwork. Just a minor thought…
Definitely more British than Canadian. The Canadian battledress is dramatically darker than that. I spent three years in the Military Museums here in Calgary; I absolutely know Canadian WWII battledress. lol
-
Yep, defo... but its painted for the tabletop, so had to be lighter for scale effect. Always a balance between realism and something that pops on table at 3'. To be honest, he has a brown filter to tone him a little to match my British.
Some of the Canadian BDs in Normandy, are pretty much same colour as British ones too. Quite a bit of variation at times.
-
A last handful of AB Figures Normandy British - MMG team, a few infantry and an MP to add some colour!
