I have been long considering diving into the world of Middle Earth. the world is so well established and so rich it offers itself for a lot of cool narratives. I was also very inspired by the pictures created by the hobbyist known as HVM. If you don't know him, look him up on facebook.
I bought some Uruk Hai miniatures on Ebay to make a start with painting something before I dive deep into the rules. I'd like to just paint something. In general I like to just make the estetics count for more than the rule efficiency
These are the miniatures I managed to salvage from my first Ebay order. 5 uruks with sword and board, 5 with pikes and one Uruk captain.
I will be going for a non traditional colour scheme for them. I rather have them look like other great orcs than the ones hailing from Isengard.
And So It Begins.

I wanted to post a quick WIP picture of the first 2 uruks I finished. Before I started I looked some reference material and I found this art that is from the Shadow of Mordor game I believe.

These are the first two I painted as a test.

I have another update for you on the Middle Earth SBG force.
First off some of the first Uruk Hai Warriors. These are the second hand miniatures from the first post.
The Uruk Hai captain.

I have also been collecting some more miniatures and finished the first few.
Lurtz and some of his friends. I think the bulk of my army will be these guys simply because I love the models so much.

Yup... That looks pretty fine!
-
Very pretty.:) I like the weathered metals best. What's next on the list?
-
They lok particularly worthy of Mordor. I can see Gondorians running from them.
-
They truly are worthy of Mordor :)
If you really want to set them apart from the Isengard Uruks a big old Eye of Sauron on the shields would look great.

Thank you all for the kind words
@Sigur: first of all thank you, next up are probably more of them. I had a few more second hand warriors underway but they seem to have gone lost in the mail. I decided it would be best not to take my chances with questionable buying sources again and would instead just order me a box of fresh ones (for as far as we can call orcs fresh). I have also dug up some riders of Rohan that I am thinking of painting up a few to maybe take a cool picture with to show the new force off with. To sum up... lots more orcs first.. then probably a troll or 2 and then on to a good force to hold them off.
@Operator5: thank you. Funny you should mention gondor because after this is finished I will most likely also build me a force of those.
@Munindk: I have thought about that. I will probably give it a try on one of the remaining models to see if I like it. If so I can always go back to these to add it. But I do like the pale weathered armor look they have now too.

The uruk hai were always among my favourite models in what is now known as the Middle Earth range. Very nice paint jobs.

I am currently throroughly invested in the middle earth SBG and I love it. The more I know about it the more I want to play it and work on cool things for it. I got me the starterset and started painting the Morannon orcs. I created a captain for them out of some of the models I didn't use and since it has been a while that I posted something here I figured I'd just share this quick snap of him that I took.

I leafed through the new books, and they look really nice. Made me wanna play that game too. :D Your Orcs look delightfully evil. Love the skin tones.
