Guys, I need your help....
I am sourcing figures for a future wars game we are playing next month. The Presidents plane has crashed in the wastelands. Fortunately the president has survived along with his wife, some political advisors, a TV reporter and cameraman and FBI bodyguards. A rescue team has been dispatched find them. Will they be rescued in time or will the various nomad gangs, scavengers, punks and bikers find them first....?
I am using the excellent Copplestone/EM4 figures for the various gangs, Government rescue team, FBI agents and TV camera crew. :)
But I need suitable figures for the President, his wife and their aids.
Ideally they will be unarmed, dressed in suits and look like politicians. Any suggestions?

Sounds vaguely like Escape from New York!
(Says LA endlessly trying to convince any sculptor to do a set of "Kurt Russell, Action Hero!" sets w/ Jack Burton, Snake Plissken, and the guy from The Thing...)
Can't really help w/ your question. Didn't em-4 do an eyeglassed poli w/ briefcase? Matakishi used him as John Major getting eaten by zombies, or aliens, IIRCC.
-
Wow! What a great idea for a game!! :D

They do: http://www.em4miniatures.com/acatalog/SUITS.html
I have used him for a very similar scenario "Escape fron 10 Downing Street"

if you have a use for the rest of the minis in a pack, you can try the casual look with the guy in a jumper in copplestone's gangster honest citizens
http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/range.php?range=GAN
or pulp figure's sinister spy, if you are trying for a lex luthor look
http://www.pulpfigures.com/catcode.php?range=Personalities&code=PHP&number=3&custID=2021561321172934704
this pack has a few possibilities too, maybe a David Letterman look and a possible first lady as well.
http://www.pulpfigures.com/catcode.php?range=Gangland%20Justice&code=PGJ&number=11&custID=2021561321172934704
if you are after a hard as nails first lady, maybe the shadowforge team owner
http://www.tritex-games.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=120_124&products_id=1076
have a look around the pulp and wild west figures from the usual suspects in addition to the modern ones. They have a higher chance of appearing unarmed.
Also check out hasslefree's kids if you want the first family to tag along

See RAFM's figure, "Burt Jackson, Trucker" - http://www.rafm.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=RAF&Category_Code=RAF
-
Saw it. I'll make that "any good sculptor to do a set..."

If you cant find a suitable figure for the President, how about the King...

Guaranteed to make the opposition feel "All shook up"
[Elvis] Thank you very much [/Elvis]

There is the Copplestone "Not Predator" pack that includes both Governor Schwarzennegar AND (my) former governor Ventura.
-
What "Not Predator" pack are you talking about? Please give some link :?:

Its pack FW7 "Mercenaries" under Military Types

Thanks for the suggestions folks. It seems like there is a good choice fo me. I will probably go for the Pulp Miniatures new pack - Boss Mc Coys office:

There is a nice figure in double breasted suit, fortunately not armed that will make a great president. I think he looks like Paul Newman! :) and a secretary figure. :) The safe is a bonus, - not sure what I will do with that!
-
Copplestones used to make a "Grey Man in suit" figure with a briefcase, that looked suspiciously like John Major. I've seen the model for sale on an "archive miniatures" site, but I can't remember where!
-
You're right! I remember that John Major figure! Anyone know where I can get one?

Would it be the chap at the bottom of the page?:

Yes! Thank you! :D

It would have helped if I'd actually read the thread is less of a hurry!
-
Ah! Thanks a lot! Now I know where to get it!
-
That John Major Look a like is a great figure, but not quite what I had in mind for my game.
I like the idea of Escape from 10 Downing Street though, but who will play Snake Plisken - John Prescott???

Has to be. After all he has 2 Jags with which to make to make good his escape!

I don't have any help for the President figure, but this scenario calls for some Redneck Militia from Old Glory's 25mm Fantasy Roadkill line:

If you want the President, or one of his staff to be armed, then you might consider this figure in shirt and tie from Hasselfree:

Actually, some of the other Humans and Adventurers from Hasslefree would be great for this type of scenario.

If you're still looking for a Prez then Gripping Beast have a figure in the Mo-Fo Falklands range. He's in a suit but wearing an parka over the top, it's cold in the south Atlantic...

Soaps.
-
Soapy, Thanks for the heads up on those figures. I hadn't seen that one before.
-
Did you play the scenario? It would be great to see some pics of what went on.(Or even a battle report!)

Not played it yet. :(
I am in the middle of painting the rescue squad at present. The various punks and bikers are ready as is the terrain and the buildings. But I still haven't got the president figure. I can't decide which one to buy!
Hopefully we will play the game in june/july. I will post a report and pictures then. :)
-
Look forward to it.As with a lot of my stuff, I've got a load of Future Wars figs that are still awaiting painting but it's a genre that really appeals to me.
-
General - I know what you mean. I have had the figures lying around for years then a friend of mine got the bug to start a post apocalypse collection and we haven't looked back! :)
I think part of the appeal is you can go in any direction you want. We have opted for the burnt over wasted desert look with fortified settlements made of any old rubbish people could salvage. The roads and wastelands are run by the gangs and the only law and order is quazi military groups and shadowy corporations :)
We are keeping it fairly low tech, so basic modern/ near future weapons, trucks and equipment.

How about one of these ?

Doesn't the Atomic Cafe 1957 range have a pack of Nixon and his security detail? A little out of contemporary style perhaps, but he might be a fun choice...
