Does anyone know if Renegade are totally out of business, have sold their ranges or are simply 'resting'?
-
I hope they are just resting.
-
It would be too bad if they were gone. They were my first ECW minis.
-
They do seem to come and go. So, they may come back yet.
I always loved the heftiness of the miniatures.
-
If they have gone you would think they would at least sell on their ranges?
Money for them and availability for the figures again for us.
-
I was just wondering this myself.
-
No, they have not gone for good. They put the business on hold indefinitely due to work and young family commitments. They both have said they intend to return but no decision on when.
-
I see companies do this - often they will have gone for good.
I really don't know why they don't give the masters to Nick Eyre to cast and sell for them. They would make a good living out of the increased exposure Nick could provide - and he has cast for them in the past.
If anyone out there knows them please pass on this idea. I miss their ranges and would love to throw them some money. If they have a young family this would sure help! ;-)
Cheers
John

Reading the posts here I'm reminded of the Monty Python sketch about the Norwegian Blue....
-
I wonder if Nick would pick them up? It would certainly help me finish off my early WWI armies.

There have been packs of WW1 figures for sale on eBay in the uk from Gravesend Models
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F283431936411
Limited stock or not I'm not sure. They're not the blister packs, but bagged and in different quantities.
-
Has there been any update or further reliable news on this? Many people will have partially completed armies and would love to throw some money at them. Anyone... anyone? ;-)
-
........and this is why you should always try to buy everything at once.
Granted, with Renegade, I was lucky to hit their regiment packs at half price, buy four get one free - giving the unbelievable price of about £0.40 a figure (if memory serves). It gave me a reasonable amount of figures for the Punic Wars.

I have tried to contact them in the past both about restarting the range and also enquiring about purchasing the range. I've never had a reply.
-
olicana. 'Reasonable amount of figures' ????????????
I would hate to have to paint a large army for you.
-
I came across some of their British Airborne figs on a Bring & Buy, the PIAT teams, and they are gorgeous. I wish I could put together a whole platoon.
If they are ever back on sale, I hope someone sends me a PM.
-
It would be good to have their ranges back into production... any news on that? :?
-
Yes! I have been waiting for years now to buy more of their excellent minis - does anyone have any news?

I've sent several emails and not received a reply. I'm assuming their business email address is not one that they check with any regularity if at all.
-
Could Northstar buy their moulds...?

To be honest that was a problem when they were still in business!!
As much as I would like to be able to buy their figures again, I feel some of the moulds for their ECW figures should be remade/remastered or whatever you have to do to them when they are past their best?
-
I'm sure it's incredibly frustrating if you need more figures to build up units. I'm also interested in model railways and there was a manufacturer which started up in the mid-1990s but was only around for a couple of years before stopping. I bought some of its kits but not enough - I had other commitments at the time such as getting married, buying a house etc.. Now, I search Ebay every week to see if someone is selling its products and, when they do come up, which is very rare, I have to pay ridiculous prices to get them. But I feel I need them because no-one since has manufactured the same things.

If the moulds are worn out you need the masters made from the silicon moulds in order to do that. Either that or the original sculpt to then make a master mould.

Keep looking on Ebay. You would be surprised how often Renegade ECW comes up for sale either unpoainted or painted but still cheap - and repaintable. I needed to add a couple of ECY cavalry regiments to suit a new set of rules we were using at the club and over only a month or so found more than enough figures on Ebay to suit my needs.
-
Weren’t the Renegade and Redoubt Enterprises figures done by the same sculptor so are interchangeable?

-
Bicorne not Redoubt.
-
I saw the new 1st Corps ECW cavalry last weekend at Hammerhead and I think they will go great with Bicorne and be a good substitute for Renegade.
-
Bicorne not Redoubt.
Yeah, definitely Bicorne. Redoubt are actually huge even when compared with the relatively large Bicorne and Renegade mini's.

Oh dear, sorry for the mistake ;D

I have to challenge you there Atheling! I mix all three together and they look fine together. I started using the Bicorne spare heads on Redoubt bodies too and that makes them even more compatible.

Each to their own :)
I would happily mix Renegade and Bicorne and Renegade in the same units but definitely not Redoubt. Also, the quality of the sculpting with Renegade and Bicorne is superior IMHO.

Anyone in old blighty rang them at the number on their website?
-
Each time an old manufacturer closes it leaves a gap for a new one to fill.

I think their site is long gone ???

Funnily enough, The Nick Collier's ECW sculpts he did for Renegade Miniatures were done quite some time after the ECW sculpts he put together for Bicorne. Both ranges are very similar in sculpting style and fit together nicely.
Happily, the Bicorne Miniatures ECW range is still available.

And now we have Bloody Miniatures (https://www.bloodyminiatures.co.uk) too, by the same sculptor. :)

Yep, Bloody Miniatures are more refined/mature in style than the Regegade and Bicorne miniatures Miniatures I think. :)
