Title: Most influential magazines, sites & blogs for publicity?
Post by: pops on November 17, 2018, 04:52:29 PM
Howdy folks,

Just thought I would ask opinions and recommendations from you regarding which magazines- print and digital, websites and blogs you consider to be the best for
publicizing a new product or product line. Venues that:
1. Have a large following
2. Review & recommend new products
3. Cover historical and pulp genres
4. Allow advertising

Thanks for any and all recommendations.

Frank

Besides LAF, you have TMP (I don't like the guys who run it, but that doesn't impede me to recognize they have a big following)

Magazines the most relevant is Wargames Illustrated, no question, followed by Wargames: Soldiers & Strategy (disclaimer: I was one of the editors, before it was sold to the British, when it was published in Spain between 2004-2006)

Table top gaming news is worth checking out - https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com

There's a similar site whose name escapes me just now...

Really depends on the genre

Beasts of War/On table top are probably the best online presence these days in terms of the coverage they give.

I think the most influential site out there right now is Beasts of War (now OnTableTop) https://www.beastsofwar.com/ (https://www.beastsofwar.com/). Another content creator that might fit the bill is Guerrilla Miniature Games. Ash's popularity has really taken off over the past year and he likes to work with smaller publishers - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbO4Vs1vlAA9hz7Ad7IMgug (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbO4Vs1vlAA9hz7Ad7IMgug).

There is also this forum and The Miniatures Page both seem to do fairly well.

Not sure if you are after smaller sites, but Must Contain Minis might be of interest to you too (Shameless Plug). I also write a weekly column for Bell of Lost Souls where I generally cover either Historical Games, or Games published by Osprey.    :)

Shameless plug for my own Wargame News and Terrain website currently at around +100.000 monthly views. Mostly do news postings but also reviews and tutorials to name a few things. Think around 1700 Twitter followers so not bad either, if interested feel to get in touch.
