Title: CMP Chevrolet 15cwt (15mm)

Here's my 3d printed CMP Chevrolet 15cwt light truck, all painted and crewed. The gunner is an assemblage of various bits and pieces out of the spares box; I think (though I'm not sure) that the figure is a gunner from a 25 pounder. It's from Battlefront, in any case, as is the Bren gun.

I have a bunch more of them awaiting paint, but this is the only one I've printed with the roof hatch open. Which turns out to be a relief, since putting the gunner together was kind of a pain with my decrepit eyes and fingers.

The markings are entirely specious; I know almost nothing about British WWII softskin markings, so I just made them up.

Looks great Fitz.

From tabletop distance no one is going to notice, but I have to say the striations left by 3D printing do bother me though :?

A really nice piece of unique kit that would look even better in my collection!

RASC Troop-Carrying Vehicles (TCVs) in Infantry Divisions (which were mostly QL 3-tonners, but also included some 15cwts) would have a red/green diagonally-split square with either 70, 71, 72 or 73, depending on the company.

In Armoured Divisions the companies were numbered 81, 82, 83 or 84.

N.B these serial numbers are only good for 1944-45.

Some divisions permanently assigned TCVs to infantry battalions and these would have the infantry battalion's marking painted immediately above that of the RASC company.

The bridge classification disc number was typically '4' for 15cwts, though '5' also sometimes pops up.

I take it that's the yellow disc? In that case, this must be one of the special "heavy class" 15cwt trucks with the depleted uranium chassis* :)

* Note: I made that up too, just in case it wasn't obvious enough.

Sorry, yes, that's the yellow disc. It's basically the 'all up' weight of the vehicle in tons - bridges would have similar yellow discs nailed to the end and if your vehicle's number was greater than the number on the bridge, you couldn't cross it. Simples.

Vehicles with trailers or towed guns would have two numbers on the same disc, one above the other, showing the weight of the vehicle with & without the towed item. So for example, a 15cwt towing a 6pdr gun might have 4 over 5.

Too late for my period. If I was doing any camo at all, it would be the KH#3 and DG#4 scheme.
