Title: Some Burrows and Badgers Figures [Mole and Weasel added 22 Jan 24]
Post by: Genghis on December 04, 2018, 08:37:44 PM
I normally hang out on the Future Wars thread, but these little chaps don't really fit in over there.  Whilst I have no intention of playing Burrows and Badgers, I absolutely love the really characterful sculpts, so got a handful to paint as an end in itself.

OUTSTANDING! Those are a BEAUTIFULLY painted & based band of anthropomorphic scoundrels. I love your metalwork, & those purple flowers work wonderfully with the wild grasses. You have a fine eye for colors. VERY WELL DONE!

Very realistic tones as well. I’ve played the game. It’s good.

lovely painting and figures (*looks like you've got a bit of flare or similar in the lens when taking the photo btw).

Thanks for the nice words.  I'm really pleased with how the metal came out as it's the first time I've painted plate armour.

The photo is just with my phone, which is only just about adequate for the task, but adequate is good enough for these purposes.   ;)

I've painted up some more of Oathsworn's rather splendid Burrows and Badgers critters to use as a pirate crew in a 40K ork pirates game we play at my local club.  They'll just get used as proxy orks, but it was a good excuse to paint some more of these lovely figures.  I haven't grassed/flowered these bases as the bare earth will look a little less incongruous on the deck of a ship, and I can still flock them at a later date if I ever do actually play Burrows and Badgers.

superb figures- beautifully painted.

photos a bit dark now  ;) can see more than enough that they merit a little bit of post-processing to do them full justice.

Thanks.

I've always been a bit of a luddite with photography and have never explored any post-processing type stuff.  Maybe I'll have to put my big boy pants on at some point and investigate...   ;)

think you said you take your pics on a phone - there are free photo apps likely to have an auto 'improve' function which may work well.
got one on my phone which is quite well featured and no ads, will check which one it is.

* Aviary is the one I have- Android app.

Some lovely paint jobs on some excellent looking sculpts.

I just hope my daughter doesn’t see these, otherwise there will be no end to the pester power

Thank-you for the nice words, although at almost 2 months' work for those 10, I'm not sure I can lay any claim to fast painting...

I've added another figure to my growing collection of Burrows & Badgers critters (by the time I recieve and paint the ones from the latest Kickstarter, I'm going to accidentally have enough to actually start playing the game).  This is Old Tom Badger, I've no idea how the rules work, but he's a mage of some sort; plus, I figure he's learnt some moves with that stick over the years.

Thank-you.  I'm pleased with how the scarf came out in the end; at one point I thought I'd over-reached trying to paint a Tom Baker Dr Who pattern, but I think I pulled it off.

I've finally finished another pair of the rather lovely Burrows and Badgers figures - the puss-cat duellist and hare mage from the last Kickstarter.  Despite my initial doubts about my ability to pull it off, the leafy cloak tutorial in the KS updates was spot on.  Now I've got some fantasy terrain to go along with my growing (accidental) B&B collection (in the form of the new Battle Systems village) I'll hopefully be able to try actually playing the game, once the dust has settled on my impending move.

Thank-you.

Great job on the cloak - I'm glad the tutorial was useful!  :)

Your original was dauntingly impressive, but the tutorial was clear enough that I took the plunge; I'm glad I did, it really makes the figure.

Wow, some serious threadromancy here, it's been a while since I've painted any woodland critters.

Starting the year with something a little different, a trio of moles from the rather wonderful Oathsworn Miniatures Burrows and Badgers range.  Maurice (red neckerchief) and Marco (blue neckerchief) are destined for my wife’s and my monitors at work, whilst Mylo the rogue (who gave the short-sighted mole a firearm!?!) will join my accidentally growing band of Burrows and Badgers woodland critters.  Despite originally having no intention to ever play the game, they're so fun to paint that I've somehow ended up with enough to play, and one of my colleagues also has a small collection, so hopefully later this year I’ll get to try the game out.

Not long after I joined LAF in 2019 I remember seeing this thread and being inspired to buy some of these miniatures.

Took me a while to build up the courage to paint them as I was worried they would look awful compared to yours.

Whilst yours are definitely better than mine I did a good enough job to buy some more, and some more, and even more - last count I have 24 all painted.

Hope to see further pictures on this thread.

Sorry for the slow response, I don't frequent the Fantasy corner very often; I've just checked out your Rangers of Shadow Deep thread - your figures are very nicely done, I'm glad I inspired you to take the plunge into this thoroughly splendid range.

Meanwhile, as a little bit of a palate cleanser amidst all the grimdark Necromunda that's been monopolising my painting desk of late, I’ve painted up some more of the ever-lovely Burrows and Badgers woodland critters: Sgt Fred Colon the town watchmouse*, Fiona Ferret the landsknecht (gotta love the outlandishly flouncy clothes) and Harriet Hedgehog the alchemist.

* At some point I’ll do his compadre: Cpl Nobby Nobbs the watchweasel, also armed with a crossbow.

In what seems to be a 6 (ish)-monthly occurrence of late, I’ve taken another brief holiday from the grim darkness of the Necromundan underhive and returned to the green and pleasant land that is anthropomorphic Northymbra.  Added to my slowly growing collection of Burrows and Badgers woodland critters from Oathsworn Miniatures are Cpl Nobby Nobs the watchweasel and Montgomery Mole the landsknecht.
