Lovely looking table - the scatter flock is messy post game, but definitely worth it.

As always a great job on the set up. I am both looking forward to the game & desperately
re-reading the rules, well it has been quite a while since we last played Ambush Alley.

Well here we go.
American special forces leave Alpha base in the south of the town, looking to pass QUIETLY thro, without any trouble, as today is market day, so what could possibly go wrong ?
The Afghans have other ideas.
Maybe they can stop Colonel JC Cunningham the 3rd, in his tracks.

The rules are Ambush Alley, and the figures are 20mm.

The Americans firstly mark out their planned route for leaving the town.

(https://i.postimg.cc/0NKjcK1v/865-FC755-1-E45-4870-9-BBD-CBEA749-C16-F7.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/hJgKGjGZ)

The Afghans then get to place 10 markers showing where their 5 possible units can be, so 5 good ones and 5 duff ones.

(https://i.postimg.cc/9M3MSXc7/B7-CECD94-4757-4-B7-C-8282-2-B7-C108650-CD.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/McDqfSM6)
You can see here that they place one in the Alpha base compound !
With cries of “I never trusted that local chef” the special forces debus, and carefully approach their own base building.

(https://i.postimg.cc/Y9wrRXxN/AD2-CBAA1-A984-453-C-A5-AA-5-E7897230-CDF.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/7CmrYndb)

But after having a quiet word with the chef and checking his credentials they are happy to move off and leave the compound.

But immediately they run into trouble as Afghans open up on them from position 3.

(https://i.postimg.cc/tJqXQYwY/F4-C3-F0-E8-AEC7-49-F0-A758-E372-C878-E32-D.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/9Rk3yFWh)
The yanks drive them off successfully.

They then progress down the road, only to encounter a Russian made HMG right opposite their base.

Luckily the Afghans miss.

So the first American vehicle crosses the bridge over the river, only to trigger an IAD.

Close, but no casualties.

The Americans progress thro the town, only to find a hornets nest of trouble coming from both compounds on the far side of the river.

The first vehicle is hit badly.

The second and third vehicle get a hurry on to support the first vehicle.

A traffic jam develops as the Colonel comes racing thro in his HUMVEE.
Men were being shot at, and running between vehicles, trying to get them, started and trying to get them moving.
The Colonel almost spilt his Jack D at one stage.

The Americans call in urgent air support in the form of an A10.

But as is normally the way, it overshoots the action and take out a civilian vehicle. Halfords what get a chance to fix that one.

Back to the action on the ground, as the lead 2 vehicles safely exit the board.

Unfortunately the Colonel takes a wrong turn, only to end up in a one way street, without a driver.

The Colonel is captured along with many severely wounded American special forces.
Not a good day in the office.

Great game, good fun, and the first time the special forces Toyotas have ever been used, after sitting on a shelf for several year.

I hope you enjoyed.

Yes I did enjoy it thank you, but then I was there wolfing down the very nice butties
(bacon and sausage ones).  Many laughs were had, shame for the Yanks that just
about everybody in the town seemed to be a close relative of the base chef.
Definitely loosing the 'Hearts & minds' there Col. J.C. Cunningham III.

What happened to the drone photo?  Deleted in the national interest?

The original Ambush Alley was a great game, played it quite a lot several years ago.  It strikes me though that your table set up is too big.  Isn't AA designed for a 3 x 3 board?

Looks great! Seemed to be plenty happening in this game with these rules. Great vehicles and terrain.

All
Thanks for the comments.
Ref playing on a 3ft by 3ft table.....why restrict yourself ?
We had a 4ft by 6ft table, good company, a few beers, some butties and a real laugh. Now that’s gaming.
