Hi All!
New project on the go... Hope you like!

A lovely start. A practical question - how will you attach the gate to the plinth (due to its weight)? Epoxy glue?
-
Very much looking froward to seeing what you do with this one! Looks like a cracking idea and a really good component selection.
More please.
-
Thanks fellas!
Von Lucky - you just stopped me making a mistake! Never mind the weight of the gate - the cardboard panels underneath were guaranteed to tear!
Modifications underway!
-
Welcome back!
This latest build appears to be going places!
-
Thanks Fram! Good to hear from you!
More progress...

Oh, that really needs a built in Van der Graaf generator for blue sparks while playing... calculated insanity.
I have to ask, are there actual games played with these contraptions, or is it the joy of building?
-
That's a good question, Shahbahraz!
I've been out of the hobby for a while, but I generally build VSF with the G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T system in mind. My wild west town, Leadwood was built for The Rules With No Name.

https://colonelotruth.blogspot.com/p/leadwood.html (https://colonelotruth.blogspot.com/p/leadwood.html)
I'm easing myself back into gaming, and may dabble in other areas too - fantasy, sci-fi, perhaps lacepunk.
-
Those are looking great, I can't wait to see the finished results.

Ooh.. that's very nice indeed. I have to assume you have an underground lair with an acre of storage space. Me, I'm pushing it to get my boring old 28mm buildings for Normandy, the Desert and North American AWI stashed away safely. For some reason my wife seems to think the shed should be for storing power tools, lawnmowers and so on..
-
Colonel - if I wasn't clear I was a fan of your creations before, then let me be clear - this (and Leadwood in particular) are absolutely pieces of art. Thank you for also taking the time in sharing them.
-
Thanks Von Lucky! You're too kind!
Shahbahraz - I too have storage issues, but where there's a will there's a way! Leadwood unfortunately spends 99% of the time in two cases I made for it, but at least being made on two boards with everything glued down, it takes less than a minute to set it up!
Some of my other creations - Gargantua, Pantagruel, Shandy Tanglefoot's Overcompensatory Death Ray Of Doom, etc. are in glass display cases in my living room. Others have been sold to a collector - although in the case of Big Mike and the Faraday Galvanic Field Gun, and the Bazalgette Light Armoured Perambulatory Contrivance, I wish I had kept them for the British army - so I plan on making new ones.
I'll probably start posting shots of actual armies soon, and maybe the occasional battle report.

Seconded. Inspirational stuff. Love watching the Colonel's creations grow.

More today! I'm ready to start painting, after adding 1,317 rivets...

Brilliant!
-
Its good to see you've started this new project its been a while. Love your work :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Thanks Supercollider!
Warlord Frod - thank you for that. Sorry I was away so long.
-
Lovely.
Do you hand or spray paint? (Or a bit of both?)
-
Hi Von Lucky.
I very rarely use spray paint. This will all be hand painted.
-
That is insane! :o
Fantastic work!
-
Holy Moses, that's the business!
-
Thanks Ray and Fram!
I did some painting today and I'm really happy with the results! Watch this space!
-
Great to see you back working on VSF builds. This one looks great.
More today! I'm ready to start painting, after adding 1,317 rivets...
However, I am beginning to question your sanity :o
-
Excellent work - I honestly find VSF a bit marmite (ie hit & miss) but really admire the consistent quality of your work, which always has a “logic” to the design.

That question was resolved years ago with the yet-work-in-progress which, at last report, had ten times that number.
Glorious madness it is!
Hadn't seen the town, mind you; have played in similar, though smaller, for GASLIGHT and In Majesty's Her Name. Wouldn't mind, in the least, playing on your table, Colonel. ;)

Great work building your Stargate, looking forward to seeing it painted up.

Yeah... About that... I'll be getting back to Lord Smudgington Smythely-Smythe's Hydraulically Motorvated Sextupedal Land Traversing Vacational Domicile in the not too distant future.
And this Stargate thingummybob is nearing completion...
-
Like what you have done. Want to see it painted.
-
That is an amazing but very compact build! I too cannot wait to see it painted.
-
Thanks gents! Painting is almost done...

Here's more, folks...

Absolutely superb Sir!
-
Green was a good choice.
And I am interested in how your base will turn out.
-
The green is very Victorian, well done.
-
The green is very Victorian.
Well done sir.
-
That has come out lovely!
Agreed - the green works really well. What paint/process do you use?
-
Thanks fellows!
Yes - I'm a fan of green for the feeling of weight it gives to machinery.
The paint process is just acrylics and inks - I went into a bit of detail on the blog:
Should be finished with this one pretty soon!
-
Glorious - I envy your imagination, skills and passion for rivets :-*
-
lol I wondered if you'd use the rest of the motor.
Nice to see you back and rooting through the bit box.
Mark.

Lots of pics on the blog!
Hope you like!
-
Very well done.
You're to be commended for going back and fixing things you believe could be done better (control mechanisms, coal bunker/shovel to fill an empty corner, MSPB replacement, etc).
-
All I can hear are the background sound effects used in "Yellow Submarine".
-
Cracking work, worthy of praise 8)
-
Thanks! I'm pretty happy with this one!
Just so long as Ringo doesn't start singing...
-
Wow that is glorious. :o :o :-*
-
Thank you, sir!
-
Simply outstanding in every way!

Awesome work. The recycling of scrap electrics to perfection that is!
-
Stunning build :-* :-* :-*
Have you ideas for games played around it or is it just scenery?
-
I have some ideas for games, but haven't played anything in a while...
