Title: Painting for Cruel Seas
Post by: ErikB on January 15, 2019, 12:01:57 AM
Has anyone purchased a Cruel Seas navy?

How has the painting gone?

I am wondering if people are using a cold/black-ish or a warm/brown-ish wash on the wooden decks on some boats.

And, of course, I would LOVE to see everybody's work!

Not that they are particularly good, but you did ask!   :)

Two Vosper Mk. 1s,

...and an S100.

Trying to do them quickly so I can play a game. I just washed the whole thing with Army Painter Soft Tone.

They look great!  And thanks for showing how warm ink looks.

Cheers, tomrommel1 and ErikB,

I'm working on the merchant tanker and the armed trawler now. I'm finding it a bit tricky to work out colour schemes because I don't want to paint every ship grey!

It would be interesting to see what other people are doing.

They look just fine to me. Not being picky, but weren't RN lifebuoys completely white?

Volleyfire!, I'm sure you are absolutely correct. However, I couldn't resist  a splash of colour and the red and white looks so good against the drab grey!   ;)

Finished another Vosper MTB, this time a Mark 2. I used the same wash but added a basic camouflage scheme to the hull.

Cool!

Does that S-Boot come with those railings around the outside of the deck?

No, the are photo etched ones in 1/350 so nominally to small but they fit nicely. They are from Eduart.

Thanks all for sharing!

After playing Bolt Action for about 2 years I am really tempted to give naval warface a try :)

Keep calm and Kardashian.

(Relevance debatable, but I had to).

I don't know which of the Kardashian Klan interests you most, but I'm reasonably sure images are not too hard to find, if hard to justify on this forum.

I was once very tempted to produce a poster including the above phrase - which, while my own coinage, I have neglected to TM -  as well as a striking image of the Kallipygous Kim, but not only were my Photoshop skills inadequate to the task, but it occurred to me that use of any such image would fall foul of copyright laws, and possibly a few others.

To keep the discussion vaguely on track, however, my planned US Navy flotilla will undoubtedly include USS Kardashian, which will almost certainly be an aircraft carrier.
