Title: (AP 2019) WWII Swedish Armed Forces
Post by: Hammers on January 16, 2019, 09:26:00 AM
I've had  these in the pipeline for some time. They are intended for a contra-factual invasion of Sweden in 1941. I may throw in some German  Fallschirmjager and SS  recon in the lot.

I've got converted bicycle troops, AT gun, two Stridsvagn m/41 (Skoda), a Stridsvagn m/21 (LK II) and, hopefully, if I can get  my hands on one a SAAB b 17 dive bomber, just as a terrain piece...

Sounds interesting, what background are you using for the invasion?

A scenario from a book called "Attentatet i Pålsjöskog". There is no translation of it, I'm afraid. The invasion is triggered by an attack by 'activists' on German transit train to Norway, carrying troops but also high ranking nazi  officials (and Eva Braun). It is a quite plausible what-if, well researched and engaging.

Sounds good and I assume it gives you the option for intervention from other powers if you fancy painting something different.

By 1941 I don't think much would come other than that the British would bomb the shit out of the harbors of Malmö and Gothenburg. After 1942 I suppose the Russians would consider the same about Stockholm and the iron ore shipping harbors of the north. But land troops? No, sir.

So the Stranglers were, essentially, correct? ‘All quiet on the Eastern front’.

I’ll be following this with keen interest, Swedish kit for the period is so wonderfully eclectic. Are you going to use the Adalen figures for the Swedes?

No, mostly conversions from British, Chez and Finnish miniatures. I had forgotten about the Ådalen miniatures. I think they could be good gor Home Guard (Hemvärn) if I remeber correctly.

EDIT: yes, they would do for Hemvärn. I will order one pack with tricorn'd soldiery to see how and if they fit withte rest.
