Delayed by various health challenges in our home, today's addition to my ongoing collection is depicted as the 13th Light Battery in 'summer' dress, from the 7th Division, VI Corps, at Borodino. Breaking slightly from past practice, the figures are 28mm Perry Miniatures (rather than the older Wargames Foundry sculpts by Alan Perry), as I find the more recent gun sculpts to be more 'proportionate'. Only a brigade leader stand remains to be painted in order to complete the project, then it will be on to the additional cavalry support 'options', in the form of two hussar regiments, also using Perry figures.

I like those a lot. The paint jobs are lovely and crisp.

I always love seeing your Russian Nap forces! Keep up the great work!

Very nice looking battery.

Excellent paintjob!
More glad because I was an avid Achaia Clauss wines consumer ;)

Exellent paintjob. It looks like a typical massive russian artillery battery. Eye-candy.

Beautiful work! I have a question for you (I know next to nothing about Russian Napoleonic forces). how many guns did the Russians have in a battery? What is the ratio for the guns you are portraying (1 to 1, 1 to 2, something else)? Thanks in advance.
-
Russians batteries in the Napoleonic era were typically 12 guns - 8 cannon and 4 unicorns (Russian howitzers); my figure scale is 1:2, so one gun model represents two real field pieces. The unicorns were typically deployed on the flanks of the battery, due to their superior throw weight and range of canister fire against attacking cavalry (well learned by the Russians in their numerous long wars against the Turks).

Excellent looking Russians! I've always enjoyed watching this army grow over the years. 8)

Indeed I concur with the Axeman

Cracking work.
Quick question on button colour. I'd gone for brass buttons on the leggings, but note you've chosen white. Did I get it wrong?

Sweet looking figures.
Can't go wrong with big guns. :)

Nice work!! :)

Janner, all sources I've seen say white cloth buttons for white linen 'summer' gaiters, brass/yellow metal buttons for black 'winter' gaiters. Shouldn't be too big a fix, if you think anyone will notice?

great looking unit :-*

Yes, easily corrected.
Many thanks for clearing it up for me :)
