Before Christmas Crusader miniatures we’re having a sale. Having just purchased the Battle of France book form Warlord I wanted to start assembling a French force. I had admired the Crusader range for some time and with the sale I could not resist. They are lovely figures. I don’t think my painting really does them justice, but here they are.

I think they look really nice! They are certainly really nice models and I was very tempted with that sale myself. In the end I resisted because I know what I'm like, and if I get a 1940 Battle of France French army I will also end up with a BEF force and Blktzkreig Germans.
Look forward to seeing what gets added to the army.

You've done a great job on them Mark :)
I am also discovering Crusader, having some of their WW2 Brits on the table that were bought during the New Year sale ;)
I will admit, I was initially reluctant to go the Crusader route because the sculpting style is a little pulp-y for me (eg large weapons) and overall the figures are a bit bigger than I would like. But I would agree with you that they are a delight to paint, with things like straps, pockets, and clothing seams very cleanly moulded. The faces are a little bland when you look at them unpainted but also come up nicely.

Nice, I like the flowers.

Lovely work on those French. I am also a big fan of Crusader, and was also pleased to find that they fit well with Artizan.

nice job, sir . ;)

Thanks for all your kind comments. I now have a few more figures to add to the army. They are currently on the painting table.

My buddy put together a platoon for my for Christmas from the BTD sales...painted them up over a weekend and the rocked a game in a few days. The BTD figures IMO are a better quality cut from Warlords stuff.
Your figures look pretty cool!

Currently painting up some Crusader French for CoC Blitzkrieg, and I have to say, while they are nice sculpts, I was disappointed at having to clean up flash from virtually every face.
Coming along - plus supports - https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oXXsbNC_ZBw/XEYx8wQGoNI/AAAAAAAAD4M/rLFemFanNLY3FRVTOEpwrfuNFejRhjsOwCLcBGAs/s1600/1-french-2.jpg (https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oXXsbNC_ZBw/XEYx8wQGoNI/AAAAAAAAD4M/rLFemFanNLY3FRVTOEpwrfuNFejRhjsOwCLcBGAs/s1600/1-french-2.jpg) This is after the first airbrush pass.

More figures added. If you want to see them all you can see more on my blog https://marctgames.wordpress.com/2019/03/02/no-game-but-some-more-painting/

Looking good! But from what I can see you‘ve put the gun together the wrong way. The gun shield is sitting much too high and the elevation is too steep.
-
Thanks. I will have another look at the gun.

I have finally added some armour for my French army. It is a Panhard armoured car from Warlord Games. I am not a great expert on French armour but it seems a decent model and went together well. The resin only needed a little bit of tidying up.
If you would like to see some more pictures and other things I have been painting you can find it on my blog https://marctgames.wordpress.com/2019/03/09/a-little-more-painting/
