Title: AP 2019: The four pronged fork - photo evidence of progress
Post by: FifteensAway on January 29, 2019, 03:25:09 AM
The four prongs on my fork are:

Finish the French and Indian War
Get enough AWI painted to play a game
Get a good start on the Old West figures - painted (primed and ready to paint helps but doesn't count)
Paint all of my Plains of Africa animals (2/5/19 edit: 24 additional giraffe almost done!)

Is this a plan or a wish list?  Maybe both.

By the way, for some reason I don't see the workbench button any more.  I have to use the Search feature to get to the Workbench page.

Most of my painting plans are true fantasy wish lists lately.  You on the other had have a good track record...
Looking forward to seeing progress for each of your planed forks.

Button seems to work today.

Borderguy,

I have lots of my FIW already finished but not very well photographed - and it is in 15 mm if that makes a difference to you.  I just decided today to run a game at a convention in March but will only be completing barricades and some bases to get ready, not working on painting figures for the game.  But I may paint some FIW figures as an aside.

Here is a link to a game I ran last March showing a goodly portion of my collection: http://steeplechasingzebras.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2018-04-20T19:47:00-07:00&max-results=7 (http://steeplechasingzebras.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2018-04-20T19:47:00-07:00&max-results=7)  Just scroll down.  Can also use the page link at the top for French and Indian War for some additional figure photographs.

I have completed 20 of 28 total marching companies (counting the native war parties, though).  Some of the rest are partially painted and all are primed and ready for paint.  Just needs time.

Speaks for itself (photo also within a colonial thread).

No difference. FIW is FIW!  Nice looking giraffes. Getting real animals to look right is a talent.

Holy what the heck!?  This has absolutely nothing to do with new stuff painted but surprised me.  I did a reasonably careful calculation of what I have painted - men, animals, equipment - for my historical war-games and arrived at a number substantially higher than I'd been "guessing".  I figured I was probably over 4,000 pieces, probably.  But it turns out I'm at or over 5,800!  Still a vast array to go to get anywhere near finished but nice to know I'm closer than I thought.  And maybe 4,000 (5,000?) primed and ready for paint.  Hmm.
