Moving on with this project at last (I am sooo very slow to make things...) and I'm excited that I can begin playing with something other than proxy-huts. Working on the actual terrain next! Whoo-hoo!
I put these together using bamboo place-mats & teddy bear fur. The shells are styrene (plasticard). The photos are too warm & yellow, they don't catch the grey sun-bleached, washed-out look of the thatch, but I'm no photographer.

These were built with my 20mm Hut Templates; if you think they would be helpful to you I'll gladly share them. Send me a PM.
Painted with Golden Airbrush colours, Liquitex & Daler Rowney Inks, powdered chalk Pastels, Matte Medium, Future Floor Finish & Tamiya Flat.

You seem to have linked to the thumbnails - clicking just gets a photo the same size as the ones above.
They look great in the small pics anyway!
For the colour balance (or even color balance, for the Yanks present ;) ) see if your camera has an internal colour-correction or white balance setting for shooting under incandesant lights - these are noticably (to a camera, anyway) more yellow than sunlight or flourescent bulbs, but most cameras have an "indoor" mode or something to help correct.

Huh. Don't know why it's doing that... The same links work just fine over at Fields of Fire. I've edited the post and added some additional links that seem to work ok. I must be missing something obvious. Usually do. o_o
Thanks for that Wirelizard!

Testing...
(pulled the actual image because they're Mr. Peabody's, not mine, and he's gotten them working in the original post now!) :)
Seems to work. If you use the Forum code in Imageshack's "Embed This Image" block - to the right and below the image - that works. Links back to your Imageshack page too.

Cracking! I love those.

OK! I live, I learn. Once again thanks Wirelizard. That took a slightly different approach, but it works like 90!

Those huts are awesome. I just saw them for the first time today, and was wondering what manufacturer made them until I read that you had made them from scratch. Excellent work...very realistic!! Thanks for sharing..
