Hi guys!
Thought I'd make a thread for a group of robots I'm working on, somewhat inspired by the ABC Warriors.

Off to a great start by the looks of it!
Was it weird to chop into one of those old androids? :)

Great stuff - I've come over all inspired now :-)

Hehe, I love the old stuff but I'm not nostalgic. ;)

Edit: added to the opening post
-
Amazing work!
-
Very nice.
-
I really like them all!
-
Some great ideas here! :-*
-
These are stellar. I love the creative reuse of other models to create robots that all look different but nonetheless have a unified feel.
-
Appreciate the comments guys! I've got plans for a few more!
I took an "action" shot of a Tech Baron and the War droid facing off against each other

I have few chaos androids i got as junk ages ago and now Iam tempted to build one just like yours.

I'll say it again: Amazing stuff, Nicklas!

These look GREAT! Love both conversions and painting.
-
I concur - wonderful stuff!
-
Thanks again guys. I got plans a few more, just need to find the correct bits.

Great stuff keep it going!

Is the camera lens done freehand?
-
These are fab! May I have permission to share the pic (and links to your Instagram) with the guys in the Zero Dark FB Group?
R.

Thanks all!

There is a sculpted lens but the reflection effect is painted on.

Of course : )

Those are fantastic. They would make a great Pulp Alley team too.
-
I'm stunned.
You are extremely talented!
-
Oh wow. That really is something! Great conversion, and that painting is superb.
-
Very nice work indeed.

Very nice indeed.

-
very nice! who is that Psygnosis class war droid cyber wizard from?
-
Cheers all!
I'm stunned.
You are extremely talented!
Many thanks

It's a conversion based on the Genestealer Cult Locus with the head from a T'au Crisis Suit and the hand from an old Necron Lord. There's a pre-paint pic on my instagram.
-
Hi guys! I've painted up their leader, a Psygnosis class war droid cyber wizard. Very much inspired by Deadlock from the ABC Warriors.
I love it! What a fabuloous palette. Any hint to Amigo 500 Psygnosis games in it? ;D

Hehe, no direct references. But part of the inspiration was old video game graphics and music from the 80s and early 90s.

I've knocked up another robot using bits from a Necron Warrior, Eldar Wraithguard and some Mechanicus bits.

Neat.
-
Nice conversion :)
-
Great stuff :) It makes me happy to see a Space Crusade Android/Necron getting some love!
-
Painted up another 40k robot. Although not part of this group I thought this thread was close enough. He's made with the body of an old Space Ork tinboy and the head from the recent Gellerpox mutants from the Kill Team Rogue Trader box. I added some lenses with putty to give him a little more character.

-
Another great character. Nice work on the weathering too.
-
I really like that, conversion and paint job :)
-
It's another amazing conversion with a fantastic paintjob!
-
I've painted up another member of my robot gang. A "Junker" class assault droid based on an old Epic 40k Squire Knight. Arms and guns from the Necron and Ork range.

:-*
Great mini, so original.
-
great conversion :-* :-* :-*
-
That's a beaut 8)
-
Just brilliant, how did I miss this thread? The robo-conversions are great and the painting faultless (as expected from NickP) but it's the little touches I love. The way the eyes all have a different sort of light and character in them, the way the bases show an overgrown urban environment, hinting at post-apoc settings. Lovely.
-
Thanks guys!

Many thanks, Cubs.
Here's yet another member of the robot group. The paintjob was inspired by old WW2 fighter planes, but I realized afterwards that the colours are quite similar to the old Lotus colours of British racing green and yellow.

Very creative.
Nice painting.

Nice painting.
Cheers : )
Thought I'd post a pic of the whole robo-team. I'm working on a new one and got plans for a couple more. The challenge is to keep each one distinct but also fit within the group.

That is one really awesome group of mechanical men!
-
Those all look great together, given the wide variety of sources for the components. Excellent group of robots!
-
Looks like R2's had something of an upgrade
Just gets better and better :)
-
Great group photo
Stunning building
And stunning painting :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Fantastic 8)

I once made a conversion using a dwarf ironclad from Man O’War and was told there is a special circle of hell for people who cut up old classics. It’s nice to know I won’t be alone in there. I am quite sure you are going the same way as me...
Your work is way better than mine though..

Wow, that's something else! :-*
What a beautiful project; I love the repurposed shapes and the natural flow you managed to achieve. You made it look purposebuilt.
The only thing not quite meshing is the head. It lacks the flowing lines of the rest of the droid, but then again, it does add to the overall look.
Also, for a moment I thought this already was the final paintjob; the plastic and putty colours work well together in a muted, 'realistic' way. Will you be painting it something garish, or will you keep it muted?
-
Amazing detail and the smoothness of the putty work is outstanding :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
Looking forward to the paint job
-
Really loving that kitbashed droid.

Is it bad that I thought it already was painted? I was thinking that grey yellow scheme is unusual and quite striking then I read your post... lol
Great thread some really nice bots on display.
-
Thanks guys (:

Cheers, man. I liked the contrast between the body which is like a jet fighter and the somewhat goofy head, almost a bit friendly. A couple of people have made similar comments about the paint scheme. Not quite decided on the paint but I'm leaning towards something militaristic, Heavy Gear style.
-
Another awesome thread Nicklas!
Really love how well the Eldar and Space Marine bits mesh. Seems sort of counterintuitive on its face since the aesthetics are pretty different, but it looks awesome. Really looking forward to the paintjob.
-
That kitbash is simply amazing! I also thought it was painted .
-
Lovely work, friend!
