Mark Copplestone has just sent us the pictures of the new 15mm Ice Warriors he's making to accompany the Ice Giant.
Should be available to buy next week.

Yeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!
-
Lovely as always.
-
*#$*&* it! >:(
there goes my money, ace stuff! :-*
-
I am not really into 15 mm fantasy myself, but it is always good to see Mark Coppletone release new models for his own ranges - I have for long had a soft spot for his work.
(Admittedly I have also bought two of the giants from this range, but they are intended to be used as ogre-sized models in 28 mm.)
-
Lush
15mm Wildlings....
-
Some company for my giant, and we didn't really have to wait any length of time for them either :P
I'm so glad I decided to hold my discount coupon a bit longer. :D
-
Oooh excellent! Where do I sign? :)
Thanks Nick.
Um...any sense whether these chaps will get a command and / or characters pack like the barbarians and northmen (but unlike the poor old Picts)?
-
Command? Pretty sure it's coming soon, along with the Pict command.
-
Grand news. Thank you :)
-
Great news! Well chuffed.
-
I....must.....resist... :-* :-* :-*
-
As people are always looking for his old Grenadier barbarians or figures to match them, why doesn't he do these and the 15mm barbarians in 28mm?
-
Not enough time in the day basically. He isn't a 30 something sculpting powerhouse with 20 20 vision and not a care in the world anymore.
The ability to just knock up a 28mm range isn't there.
-
Well that's a shame. In the words of Sheldon Cooper "personalized robots can not get here fast enough". Maybe try to find him a lackey? ;)

Understandable, but a real shame. I’d happily trade a kidney for this range but in 28mm.
-
A lackey?
Many have tried to walk in the mans footsteps but they just can't manage it.
-
Really nice. From were does Mr. C. intends these guys are from? Thule? the sinking lands (netherlands!)? Northland?
Not that it really matters but I like that map.

true that.

The two packs of Ice Tribes are available to order now.

Wahoooooo!
Brilliant and with a great Bronze Age feeling. I love them! Will they also get heroes? And command?

Reading is very much overrated in our society! lol lol
Good news then. It seems I was a bit overexcited when I saw them.

Besides the reasons that Nick gave, maybe also:
1.) the old Grenadier barbarians (or at least most of them) are still available from eM4 and Mirliton, and those sculpts have stood the test of time very well (I think the oldest ones date back to 1991 or so)
2.) Sometimes sculptors just like to move on and do something new (even if it is just sculpting in a different scale)
Sculpting is an creative process, and thus requires plenty of inspiration and motivation, and to maintain that may require moving from a topic to another - sometimes this leads to rather obscure releases when a sculptor gets inspired by something odd, at other times it may lead to ranges left incomplete as the sculptor just loses the inspiration.
While I would not mind seeing Mr. Copplestone sculpting more 28 mm barbarians (which I would likely purchase), I think it is more important that he keeps on sculpting subjects that will help to maintain his own interest and productivity.

Is it wrong that after waiting so long for additions to this range I find myself hanging back? Just feel I want to buy a whole force and not be stung again like the Picts.
-
Not really :)
Nick suggests command is likely to be coming soon, so I too am waiting for the lot to be available before ordering, rather than going piecemeal now.
-
Yeah me too - though I’d push came to shove I think I’d be more confident converting a commander and standard for the ice guys than the picts. Easier to match the clothing style and tweak the poses than on the picts. Still - command would be very welcome!
-
The same here. I lost my motivation when the picts were never finished, too. Should these now be completed and another faction quickly follow...well...I still consider these the best 15mm ever made lol
-
They are incredible figures and a must buy. But must admit I feel a bit disheartened. Could be spending more time and money on ranges that would never be finished.

You could try praying to Crom ... but I seldom pray to him, he doesn't listen.
