Started this a while ago but of course Photo*#@! put paid to that.
I’ll be starting in earnest again after Salute but I needed something to break up the prep monotony :)
Firstly, the (small amount of) figures I’ve got painted.

And I made a quick start on a suitable village abode. Still debating on the roof; thatch or tiles :?

That’s all for now, I needed a break from Salute lol
-
Thatch!
-
I agree with ST- thatch.
The ECW is a great period; every time I get the notion to paint something else I get sucked back in by the frilly shirts and bright clothes. :D
-
This is going to be another sit back with popcorn and enjoy the show thread :D 8)
-
Nice little cruck frame house. For one that size I'd go with a thatched roof too.
-
Thanks chaps :)
I was hoping people would say ‘tiles’ but I knew in my heart it would be ‘thatch’ lol
-
Turbo weak lol
Thatch!
-
Gonna watch with interest
-
Very nice painting on the figures :-* :-* :-*
Looking forward to seeing how the expert does THATCH ;D
-
Thatch it is then :'(
lol
-
Thatch it is then :'(
lol
If you have any left over, I suspect the mounted figure could do with some.
-
Nice start 8)
I go for two thatched roofs, to include an alternative with a blackened hole burned though it :D
-
Very nice painting on those minis. :-* :-* Sadly I have to go with thatch for that building but if you were to build a small inn, then tiles would work well.
-
So it begins...
-
Thanks chaps :)
A second roof that’s slightly burnt out is a good idea but I’ll have to see how the first one turns out.
I’ve got a potential field commission so thought it would be a good idea to have a quick go of one so I’m happy with the process. The furrows need to be smoother of course and maybe a bit more variation for the hedge but it’s not far off.

Nicely done. 8)
-
Nice start. Good idea about adding some additional species.
-
Nice shrubbery! 8)
-
Thanks gents :)
-
Nice looking field piece - but it does look very small, more of a garden than a field?
-
You should see the size of my woods lol
-
Looking forward to seeing this progress!
The hedge around the field sample looks great, what product is that?
-
Cheers fellas :)

Well, it is a test ;)

Some sort of filter material covered in a flock mix with a few trees and 'shrubs' poking out of it.

Had some partially finished figures sitting in the queue for a while and the current game that Richard is kindly hosting has gotten me inspired to finish them off.

Septimus Appleyard’s company I deduce? ;)
Quite possibly Sir Royce Puddean (a descendant of a long line of Puddeans) ;)
-
They look absolutely splendid 👍🏻
-
Splendid James. :-* :-* Are those Bicorne figures?
-
Nice job on those James 8)
-
Thank you kindly chaps :)
Are those Bicorne figures?
Yes apart from the chap in the purple jacket who was a Black Powder freebie form Warlord (I think).
-
Very nice.
-
Cracking start to this project, are the figures Bicorne?
-
Nice work thus far!
-
Great brushwork! Smart looking troops and terrain.
-
Thanks gents :)
are the figures Bicorne?
For the most part. Purple jacket is Warlord along with the dismounted cuirassier I believe.
-
I think this chap was a freebie from Foundry (can’t remember though). I’m quite happy with the armour but looking at the photos it does appear a bit haphazard in places.

This is a Foundry figure. I think that for a long while it was not released by Foundry but photos of it, painted by Kevin Dallimore, were on the Foundry website. Foundry then eventually released it - probably as a freebie. I put out an appeal for it on this forum and I've got a couple - for which many thanks. Dismounted cuirassiers are rare, although Foundry do do another one.
-
"now..where did I leave my horse?" pose :)
Nice addition James :)
-
Bastards! These threads have re-wetted my appetite for ECW,I did have a rather large Royalist Scots army, gave them to a mate... lol
Cracking work James :-*
-
Lovely blackened armour James
-
Many thanks gents :)
I keep threatening to get out the fortified manor house out that I started a few years ago...
Let's see :D
-
Please do!
-
Got six more done but for a red regiment. Very probably for Sir Marmaduke Rawdon (my old regiment in the ECWS) or for someone else if I can think of a suitably silly name :)
Not a patch on the good Captains of course but they'll do when they're winning :D

Thanks :)

Pikemans Lament, large skirmish.
-
Very nice - mine are still gazing forlornly at the painting table but those pics might put a smile on their faces.

Looking good, mate.
