Title: Pieces for a library
Post by: NickNascati on April 03, 2019, 12:47:04 AM
All,
I decided I wanted to add a library reading room to my pulp settings.  The pictures below show the results of my efforts.  Everything is made from scraps, leftover balsa, some foam core and corrugated paper for the book spines.  I was able to find a couple good images for book insides and maps on the net.  Please understand that I build these for my own fun, and do not intend them to be scale models.
                                                                                                                  Nick

fantastic detail. this is gone way above "terrain" to scale modeling status.

Very nice.  I may have to try my own hand at this.

Beautiful work Nick.  I know you are quite creative and talented at this.  I bought your western town!

Great job and best wishes!

Great looking library - will be useful in many games/periods. I only hope you have not got a copy of  the "Mad Arab" Abdul Alhazred's famous translation... it will only lead to madness, madness I say!

Jerm,
It may be hiding in plain sight, in an innocent disguise.

Its no secret that I'm a fan of experimenting with zero budget projects.
Yours has some simple but effective solutions such as the book spines.I can see each item being useful in their own right rather than as a single set dressing . Which only adds to their overall charm and storytelling potential . Nicely done.
I'd not even blink at the idea of scale .Back when research ment bracing yourself for a degree of manual labour reading rooms use to have some massive and bloody heavy books in them . Especially those rooms hidden away where you couldn't borrow the books from.
Which is probably the most pulp setting in a library ( your not going to have acts of daring do amongst the Mills and Boon shelves.where theres alway a hint of lavender and incontinence.)
Once again nicely thought out pieces.

Mark.

Mark,
For a few seconds, I actually thought about following your lead and using cereal box cardboard.
