Title: 28mm Women & Civilian figures?
Post by: robh on April 16, 2019, 07:10:55 PM
Old West is not my sphere of interest so I have no idea which manufacturers to check out but......

.....who makes 28mm models of civilians (especially female) in pioneer or homesteader clothing?  I need regency 1830s-40s style rather than later Victorian and day wear not the big hooped ball gowns.

I am actually trying to find figures that can be re-purposed for pre-mutiny India and Afghanistan. Most of the figures in Darkest Africa ranges are too obviously late Victorian so I am hoping Old West players may have different options.

Dixon miniatures have some plainly dressed Pioneer women that might work?

Mutineer miniatures have a pack of indian mutiny civilians with some ladies in

Perry Cape Wars Boer women and children? Or ACW female rioters?
On a similar line  The Virtual Armchair General does females in the Bhoys line that might work?

Redoubt does quite a few civilian females which may be suitable. Front Rank do Regency civilians and I am sure Perrys do some.

I second Knuckleduster - lots of really good female miniatures of the sort you're looking for.

Knuckleduster is heads and tales above anyone else right now for Old West minis, but they will be larger than some older lines, so if you're matching you'll want to do a comparison.  They're not "heroic" etc..., but solidly large 28's.  He has civilians and a handful of gunfighter womenfolk, armed prostitutes, etc.

Knuckleduster
If you are looking for old 28's go to the O gauge train figs. This was the original line prior to the introduction of the Gunfighters Ball figs. GB figs are bigger and will not match.
