Finished a Varanguard for AoS as kind of painting challenge to myself. Being woefully bad at painting yellow, it had to have that as a primary colour and it had to be bright.

Very nicely painted! Super clean job, and the metals look excellent.
From these angles it's slightly hard to make out where the model's head is, but that's GW's fault not yours!
-
Very nice. Great colour choice
-
WoW.
Yellow make this model
Totally different from drab black and silver Ive seen and so much better looking.
Hard to forget.
Great job.
-
Looks superb! Well done! :D

:o :o :o
-
:o Fantastic work!
The really bold yellow has turned out great! Can I ask what your process was for it?
-
Thanks guys! The yellow was averland over White primer, seraphim sepia thinned with medium, averland again thinned with medium, and finally a thin coat of yellow glaze.
-
Beautiful work on the yellow.

Lovin‘ the troggoths and the skeletons! Really like your color palette. In fact even the miniatures I am not a huge fan of come alive because of your paint. Great artwork!
-
Lovely work all around, particularly those varanguard, your yellows really popped on those.
Two sets of braziers, not entirely satisfied with the 'normal' ones, but good enough for now.
I'm not in your league, but maybe just a hint of sooty black/brown would help? I find the strong contrast really helps, even if it isn't wholly realistic. Examples at blog: https://brokenstarsburningships.blogspot.com/2018/02/you-may-experience-burning-sensation.html
-
Thank you very much. Also, i tried the 'soot' suggestion and it worked great!
So I bought into Warcry, the models are just awesome and I have yet to see a warband that i don't like. Started with the Iron Golems, but as a friend of mine is doing his in the 'traditional' candy red and brass, I decided to go another way…

Love those. Great to see something other than red on these guys.

Thank you. Next up, the Untamed Beasts. This time in a more traditional scheme.

A friend of mine is starting up a RoSD campaign and asked if I wanted to join in. Having never played I decided to paint up a new band of adventurers

There's some great face on those figures, plastic?
-
Love this - that's a particularly atmospheric band of rangers. Good use of the Oathmark/Frostgrave kits there. Take some pics of your games and let us know how it went!
-
Loving those henchmen!
-
Great kit bashing and painting on those adventurers.
-
Thank you. Yeah the minis are kitbashes from Oathmark and Frostgrave with a few GW shields. With the Cities of Sigmar battle tome coming up, I was looking around the net for ideas for when the faction hopefully gets rules in Warcry and I fell across the awesome Ashen Stairs fanmade setting(?). Suitably inspired I made a trip to my FLGS and this is the result.

Very smart work

Those look great! Would be curious to see how they come together pre-paint if you make any more.
-
Very cool!
-
Thank you. I'll be sure to do some WIP if I come back to them later on.
Got a start on my Warcry terrain

That's disgustingly good.
-
I agree with the above sentiment. Lovely PJ
-
Nearly too clean for a Great Unclean One! Well done!
-
He failed papa Nurgle so his punishment was a wash.
-
Loving the Warcry barbarians! Had not seen the terrain piece before - going to need one now myself!
-
Thanks guys. Yeah I wanted to try something different than the 'normal' green. Next batch of Nurgly goodness, a gang of plaguebearers.

Decided to take a small break to paint something non-nurgle, and after a rummage through the Grey Mountain I decided on these generic fantasy objective markers from Mantic. Nothing too crazy, but a nice palette cleanser, so to speak.

I think the black horns on the nurglings look very nice, they work very well. Great looking force so far.
-
Those look amazing!
-
Thank you very much. So another batch of plaguebearers. Last of the nurgly-stuff, for now at least. I still have some blightkings and a gnarlmaw to go, but the army is big enough to do some smaller games.

Going back to RoSD, the planned campaign has been put on hold, due to workstuff, so I decided to try my hand at it myself. I gifted my last warband to a buddy, who's just getting into wargaming, and so I found myself with a excuse with doing up a new gang, while I gathered the needed pieces for the initial scenarios.

Thank you, what flash?

Dave. You can never have enough Dave's.
-
fantastic, nice clean painting.
-
I really love your color palette on these fellows. Inspirational really.
-
Very smart painting. Very crisp pallette choice.
-
Loving the new warband. Would really like to see some battle reports, should you have a mind to take pics!
-
Thank you. Did up some Oathmark goblins to use in RoSD, as I like the idea of a more 'traditional' opponents than gnolls, though I do really like the Frostgrave Gnolls. I will definitely try to get some pictures during the game, when we kick off.

Great looking paint jobs, especially like the band of adventurers.
My leader. (I'm taking suggestions for a name)
Dave. You can never have enough Dave's.
I second the suggestion of Dave for your leader’s name...good solid name for a leader.
-
Thank you. Your wish is my command, although I didn't not get any pics, Dave 'the Dank' and the gang has completed their first mission cleansing the overrun village and the infested woods. I'm still looking around for ideas to make the river for the first scenario in the second mission.
In other news I finished a unit of blightkings for the nurgly boys, painted them to match my Varanguard.

A new year, a new army. I've loved the gitz since they came out and with work finally winding down to a point where I can get some more painting done I finally got around to pick up some greenskins.

That's a great collection you're building.
-
Thank you. Given the health situation, my self and my regular group of opponents have been forced to think creatively as to how we hobby. So instead of playing games we've all agreed to pool our ressources and prep for when we can game again. So to that end we decided to revisit Mordheim, and use the time apart to build/create terrain and warbands for when we eventually can get a campaign going. So I've been going through my pile of shame and older stuff to see if there was anything I could use, and I found these. Treasure tokens from a long time ago, for a Empire in Flames campaign that never got off the ground.

cracking painting :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

Very nice
-
Really nice, even better if you had cleaned all the flash off
He's talking about the mold lines you've left on many of the figs.
Your technique with the washes or contrast paints or whatever they are gives pretty satisfactory results but imo the overall effect is spoilt by all the mold lines and gaps you haven't bothered to fill.
It's a shame as the the pj's are quite nice, I lke the colour pallets you've selected and your basing is good.
-
Fair enough. :)
-
look great to me - and I'm quite sure they do from playing distance too.
this whole mouldlines etc thing is exaggerated to a ridiculous degree in our hobby.
-
I agree with Bloggard.
